The dealerships hate seeing me walk in because I buy the bike and nothing else. I tell them if Harley-Davidson were so bad that you have to purchase coverage then I wouldn’t buy a Harley-Davidson to begin with
@ Then they have the nerve to catch an attitude when you decline everything except the bike. 😆 but to be fair, it happens to me at GMC dealerships as well, so I assume that's just how these salespeople are trained
Congrats to you my brother. Shop wisely and you will get a great bike. Remember that if you choose a Harley you will end up putting more money in that bike to get it to where you want it to be. Find the bike that has most of what you think you would want. That will cost less in the long run.
Great and informative video! I just got my endorsement and now looking round my area for for bikes. I notice some dealerships are upfront and some try to hide what they do. I'm definitely going to get a bike sometime within the next three months from now. Thank you again for the video and keep doing what your doing!
To add to that. The dealership will have quotes for the month so go at the end of the month and it will help too bc they are trying to do so many bikes per month.
You’re entirely correct about avoiding the dealership. Either buy from a private seller or buy from an independent dealership who sells used motorcycles. The majority of the independent dealerships don’t hit you with all those BS charges, etc and they can secure you financing if you wish to live outside your means. Harley, specifically, is the worst dealership to go to if you want to buy a Harley lol.
If anyone is considering buying from a brand dealership, always very carefully review the paperwork because they will always slip stuff in without telling you. A Harley dealership is gonna hit you with at least a $1k dealer fee plus another $500 or so for destination charge and if you’re not careful they’ll slip in stuff like lifetime tire program, lifetime battery program (Ducati dealers do it too). So if someone wants to go the route of a brand name dealer, always always always carefully read the paperwork. I’m with you on this one. There are a lot better alternatives out there than going to a brand name dealership, no matter which brand we’re talking about because they all use the same tactics. I’ve bought 2 new bikes from dealers (Ducati and Harley) and 2 used bikes (Norton commando and a Harley) from independent used motorcycle dealerships and the experience between the 2 was worlds apart. I dig your channel. Keep the videos coming.
Definitely go to a dealership if you want an older bike. You can go at the end of the year to get a bike because they’re trying to get rid of inventory to make room for the next year models.
I bought my Freewheeler late November 23 with a 1 year warranty. A couple of weeks ago I went with the after-market warranty. Finance quoted me a 2 year Harley warranty. For the same money I got after-market warranty for 4 years plus tire coverage.
If if you don’t know what to get 2 all rounders for touring, on and off road and commuting, KLR 650 S and Africa Twin. They are good at helping you pick a specialty type riding later on.
I've bought 7 bikes used. Only had problems with 1 of them. Look at the Sellers eyes & body language while they are speaking - for deception clues Last bike I bought - the Seller swore the was in good condition After a few basic repairs - it was the truth - the bike has run great
I love this topic… I have this conversation all the time. I would love to debate this conversation! I definitely work at a dealership, It would be mad fun!
No need to debate, just make a great video on the dealership where you work and educate people on what you do differently versus all the snake dealers that are out there. Also keep in mind that ai still bigged up my dealership. Let me know when you post the video so I can share it. 💪🏾💯
We just want the price of the bike up front! No dealership fees, no back and forward negotiations, yes offer me warranties but at a reasonable price. Is this too much to ask???
Bro. I’ve personally seen bikes with missing bags and chipped paint on the frame in the same place Mention. I don’t make videos speaking out of my ass. The issue with making content is that people choose what they want to hear and take everything literal. I’ve seen bikes that starts right up with zero motor damage just like my Softail which is salvaged. Please read this message from love and not from anger.💪🏾💯
Good stuff Sensei💪🏿!! I've never got suckerfied😅😅. I always buy private owner used. Found some good deals too. I'm good at maximum motors website, these bikes are cheap👀. Make a brother wanta jump😁. Stay safe!!
That's not always true with those salvage bikes. They are good if you have the time and money to fix it. Facebook market place, craigslist and offer up and so many more place is your best bet and some states Still have a iwanna magazine in the gas stations deep south and they have tons of bikes in them. Also talk to people when you see then riding the bike your looking for. I found 2 Harleys through my mom working in hospice in mint condition 2007 street glide and a 2008 road glide both were under 12k miles from a older guy who wanted to thank my mom for her care. He only wanted 6k for each bike in mint condition. So pray TRUST GOD and look. They do have a lot of back stock bikes for sale every year that they never sale and that's when you can get a great deal look in the PA and TX areas they are super cheap around the tristate area trust me and Georgia i got a 2008 bussa from the original owner that sat in the driveway for 3 years for 4500. trust me they are out there you have to be on the lookout.
When they stop adding all those B.S Fees and stop insulting buyers with the lowest trade in values. I will return to buy from dealers. (Probably never)
Horrible advice. Definitely go to a dealership, but know how to negotiate, and if at all possible never finance. Buying a salvage bike or used from someone is playing with fire.
I don’t know about this being horrible advice. But this is your truth and I respect that. But keep this in mind, most people cannot afford to buy a bike at dealer cost straight up cash. And the scammy dealers will make you feel like you’re negotiating but then they add on a lot of hidden fees. ( do you work for a dealership?) I’ve done everything I stated and came out winning before buying a new bike from the dealership. Have you been to a salvaged dealer to check out the bikes that has minimum damage? I have people who did exactly that and is completely happy with the purchase.
@ No, I don’t work for a dealership. Knowledge is key. It’s very easy to find out what fees are necessary and which the dealers are adding on. Just tell them you aren’t paying those fees, they will take them off because they don’t want to lose a sale. Tell them what you want to pay out the door, and if it’s reasonable, they’ll ask you “If we do that, can I earn your business today?” Just be prepared to act on it. Salvage titles should only be explored by the kind of people that are proficient in working in bikes, because not all information is disclosed, and there is no warranty if things go bad. These aren’t cars, if you have an issue on a bike, that can be the end of your life
