What's been lost on a lot of people is Russell is helping Justin. Justin said he's learned a lot from Russ. A QB with with 13 years in the league that's seen so many defenses, been to playoffs, Superbowls and won a SB has INVALUABLE experience. He is also well known to take care of his body, which is why it took until his 10th year to miss his very 1st game. If people seriously think Russ couldn't be put into the game right now, they're sadly mistaken. The calf thing is minor and it's not a matter of he can't it's a matter of let's not risk making this worse because we'll need him later. Steelers fans and the media will implode when he is starting again because the media dislikes Russ and wants him out and Steelers fans think sitting Justin and putting Russ in will ruin their chances of winning. Do not act like the first 3 wins weren't because of Defense and a good kicker. However, to think the D will be lights out every game is foolish. There will be games against teams who WILL put up points and your offense will need to score and score early to win. You will also need someone who can close those games and maintain composure when the game is on the line and you need to score. That's what Russell is known for doing best. He did it in his supposed "down year" in Denver and all the years before that in Seattle. I don't understand why Steelers fans have married themselves to Fields. There should be a part of you that at least wants to see what Russ will do on this team with his arm. He had 9 passing touchdowns this time last year. He doesn't turn the ball over, and he doesn't routinely fumble. For Steelers fans to vehemently reject the idea of Russ starting is odd considering they want to keep wining games and that's something Russ can do. It's almost as if they don't want to see him start because they might be proven wrong about him. If he looks good and possibly elevates that offense, you should be a happy fan. If he doesn't and he looks terrible, and the reason they lose games, bench him. Justin can't be upset or discouraged by Russ starting because Tomlin hasn't named Justin QB1. It wouldn't be a benching, but an undersanding that he was the backup filling in for an injured starter. He did his job which was to not lose the game and theres always a possibility if things get really bad or injury occurs he will be starting again. Meanwhile, he gets invaluable lessons from a HOF QB and coach. Justin wanted to come to the Steelers knowing he'd likely be the backup to Russ but was humble enough to know he could learn from him. It's a great situation people are trying to turn into something bad.

I’m glad the bears let us get fields. He’s a dynamic playmaker that we haven’t had since been got Tommy John surgery. We need to let the offense play more free earlier in games. I’m not sure if it’s Tomlin or Arthur smith but we need to be more aggressive earlier in games

Agreed. If anything I thought Russ over-achieved last year. Nobody expected the broncos to win 6 out of 7 games at one point last year but they did and they beat some good teams. He could go to Miami and ball out right now. If Pittsburgh decides to give him a shot I think he would boost their offense immediately. Agreed. If anything I thought Russ over-achieved last year. Nobody expected the broncos to win 6 out of 7 games at one point last year but they did and they beat some good teams.
