I didn't have any pets but I watched this one episode of AWOG about gumball going about his day while no one is there but at the end its revealed that he just couldn't see anyone for some reason, and I lived in fear of that happening to me one day. To the point that I'm sure that episode was at least 20% of the reasons for my anxiety.

That's honestly the first thing I thought. And I'm not sure how it is in other places, but where I live the daughter doesn't even have to do any naughties. If they're "just" filming her in a state of undress that could already be taken as production of child p**** imagery.

also, depending on where the daughter put the bear, they could possibly have video of her changing her clothes, which in the eyes of some juries and/or judges, classifies as possession of child naughties.

When I was a teenager, we had a strategy for that, that every teenager would tell other teens who found cameras in their rooms - masturbate or get naked in front of the camera, subtly remind your parents child pornography is illegal and a nude teenager qualifies, or imply to a mandatory reporter that your parents have underage pornography.

@@witherschat if by "one part" you mean 99.99999999999999999999999999% of what gets you addicted then yes.
The real secret is that the majority of the addiction is mental and would still be present, and just as intense even if ciggarettes were not physically addictive.
It takes 3-5 days to recover from nicotine withdrawls, and thus the physical addiction. It takes months at best, decades if you struggle, to get over the mental addiction.
For me, and most smokers I know, the real draw of ciggarrettes is getting to go outside and put the world on pause for 5 minutes. Especially working. A lot of jobs dont bat an eye if you step out for a smoke for a few minutes but if you stop to sit on your phone for the exact same amount of time you're getting a write up.
Its also why Ecigs dont work for everyone. They fix my cravings for nicotine. I stop being shaking and anxious, but I still want a ciggarette.

I got better at reading out loud by reading to my mother's horse while he was healing from an injury. He had to stay in a stall because running would have reinjured him. He seemed a bit down, so I would go out and read to him ( I also brought a radio out to the barn and put it on the classical music station for him during the day when I wasn't reading to him). I got way better at reading out loud (I have ADD and though I was good at reading, reading aloud was was something I wanted to get better at because I tended to sound monotonous and stilted when I did so) and the horse seemed to appreciate the company. Having a listener who just listens can be very helpful.
I had previously attempted to practice reading aloud to my pet goats, but they would sometimes try to nibble on the book. The sheep would listen, but didn't seem interested. The horse was a very good listener and did not try to eat the book.
Animals can be therapeutic in so many ways. I would love to see more programs that utilize that. Perhaps a program could be started to have kids read to dogs at the pound. It could benefit the dogs and the kids.

Putting aside the fact that professors would not be amused by that, mother's random nonsense was never anything important. When she didn't take the hint on the schedule he just left his phone off and ignored her calls and when she didn't take that hint, he changed his number and she nearly lost her mind over that one.

My parents did a lot of the classic insane parent stuff in the past, like "you'll miss us when we're gone", invasion of privacy, taking things hostage, etc. They'd spank me, and whenever I cried, they'd yell at me or spank me telling me to stop. They locked me in my room many times which definitely scarred me emotionally. They'd strap me to a chair with a belt until I finished eating. They deny a lot of things when I bring it up, and I'm not sure if they actually don't remember or if they're trying to gaslight me. Recently me, my siblings, and my mom ended up having a huge conversation about childhood memories, and I brought up how she would ask my younger sister if she did something, ask me, then automatically blame my older sister when we both said no. She admitted that she had thought we were "too young to be capable of lying", which I think relates to their "you don't know anything / you're my child so I own you" type of attitude. Then they say that we (me and my sisters) say we know better than them, which we don't, and it's exactly what they do. They've been a lot less "insane" lately but they've openly admitted to being "scared of me" retaliating. Again, can't tell if that's true or if they're just making it up, and intimidation or talking negatively about me right in front of me is all they've done my entire life. I have no idea what to believe. And when I found these videos, I was convinced I had always overreacted about them. I mean, she's not antivax, she openly supports the queer community, she even pays for my estrogen pills. But who says she won't hold that over my head later? Both of them have already admitted how they feel about feeding and housing their kids. She's pro-life and so many of the other things on the subreddit, and there have been videos in this series where the two of them and maybe sometimes just one of them are represented in just about every post. I can't express how many times I watched one of these and was like "woah, they're actually even worse than I thought". I feel like if it weren't for these videos, I'd have convinced myself they did nothing wrong and possibly even that I deserved absolutely everything. Thank you.

I remember being scared to check out this subreddit because I thought it would falsely make me believe I was being abused. I know, that’s really dumb, but it was the way I thought, like not saying anything to people about things that were done to me because it would “hurt my mother”. I now realize my hesitance to admit I was being abuse, even to myself, was just part of their manipulation.
That whole “I never did that, you’re making that up, you’re exaggerating that to make me look bad, etc…” is part of that manipulation game. They’re not dumb. Your parents do remember a lot of what they did imo, but I’d believe they’re not lying about not remembering it all. Abusers often don’t remember specific small events like victims do because it’s nothing special to the abuser. It doesn’t hurt them when they beat someone. It doesn’t hurt they when they say something horrible to someone. They have no strong attachments to these events, and can forget them more easily. In my mothers case, she has a lot of NPD symptoms, so it would make sense for her to really not remember doing anything wrong to me, as in her mind, beating the shit out of her child for having a verbal spat with their sibling is completely justifiable. But your mother might just be in denial, which a lot of abusive parents seem to be.

My grandparents were pretty awful to my mum and her siblings at times, too. They do the same thing that your parents do when they're confronted about it: deny and downplay. I think they genuinely don't remember some of it, other things they don't believe were "that bad", but there's a strong element of not wanting to admit that they did an awful thing (especially multiple times). Think of how difficult it is for some people just to say they were wrong and apologise for something quite trivial. It's extremely frustrating and disappointing to hear them shirk responsibility, even if they have grown as people.

This mom is nuts! I was 22 when my cousins (18F from Tunisia) was coming to Canada for university and I had more commun sens than her to at least advise my cousins to have some self awareness and protect herself. I mean, I warn her to not play "chicken" with a guy that she reject but still let him flirt with her. And this mother allow her teenage daughter to go meet a stranger (a BF that you never meet in real life is a stranger : his is just a bunch of words and probably a face on video chat and we all know that filters doesn't exist!) that is 1 hour away without any plan of general physical protection (even seem to be happy about that) and actually wish her to fall pregnant. She has no commun sens about life as a mother at 18 in 202x. I guess she think that the guy will provide (money wise). And if they believed that the guy is also 17, it's weird to believed that at this age he is ready to provide for a family and she probably has a blind trust over responsability that young boy are ready to take at this age. If they believed the guy is older... eeehhh... kind of illegal and we call it pe******* and she is ok with that. I'm kind of disguss. The parent should be the one that stop their children that is about to do something stupid (I mean.. when it can actually be very harmfull in so many ways), not give a pat in the back and asking for more stupidity!
Btw, if I'm right, the bro has the good idea with the pill. But, if my memory is good, doesn't take a couple of week to be fully effective as a contraceptive (and I'm crossing my finger he is providing the condom ~ not the mom after reading the head comment here ~ and explain to his syster that pregnancy can be a small problem beside some other stuff that she could get from this stranger and that the pills wont protect.

36:24 I went to Church a lot for a few years, and while everyone there were well-meaning and certainly not biggots or anything, I stopped going cause I didn't like how discouraging they were of new ways of thinking. However, there was one story a priest once told during Mass that I really loved and think about all the time. It was about a religious man who lived in a town that was suddenly hit by a huge flood. The water kept rising and rising and he climbed up on the roof of the church to avoid it. While he was climbing, a boat full of people came by who offered to save him, but he dismissed them, saying "Don't worry, God will save me." Then a bigger boat came by and he did the same thing. Then when he was just at the top, a helicopter arrived and he dismissed that, too, refusing to take their help because of his faith in God.
Then, of course, he fucking drowns, and when he gets to heaven and meets God, he gets super mad at him, yelling, "Hey, what the hell! Why didn't you save me? I had so much faith in you!" And God is like, "YOU FUCKING IDIOT! I SENT YOU A BOAT, YOU DIDN'T TAKE IT. I SENT YOU AN EVEN BIGGER BOAT, YOU DIDN'T TAKE THAT EITHER. THEN I SENT YOU A FUCKING H E L I C O P T E R AND YOU DIDN'T TAKE THAT EITHER. THIS IS YOUR FAULT!"

that person probably was experiencing low blood sugar, and the parent dismissing it was doing something INCREDIBLY dangerous. one time I wasn't paying attention after a long day and by the time I was home I was incredibly shaky and weak from low blood sugar, so I put the quickest thing I could prepare into the oven, chicken nuggets. but I did so in front of my grandmother, who called me a pig. when I explained I had low blood sugar, something a diabetic family member backed me up on and later confirmed with a glucose test, she said I couldn't be because 'I know what that's like and this isn't that' (a while ago she was pre-diabetic, but she immediately was placed on medication and has had nothing on her blood tests for at least a decade) and that I must actually have super high blood sugar because that's the only reason I would want to eat 'fried food'. if I didn't guard the oven to prevent her from removing the tray and binning the food (something which has happened before) I would've been in a lot of trouble. so I really hope the op of that story was able to eat/drink something because it's really dangerous

    • @gypsydanger1013
      @gypsydanger1013 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

Yep, MEGA dangerous. One of the first things I learned in medical school that I didn't know before was why it's vital to test the blood sugar of EVERY person who comes in drunk/high/suspected of abusing any substance. I had 2 cases in my first year in Emergency of people who seemed absolutely drunk out of their mind (slurring words, threatening to strangle everyone, forgetting their age) turn out to be completely sober and suffering critical hypoglycemia. These people were like moments away from a diabetic coma. It's scary, especially when it's things like insulin pump malfunctions or people who live alone.

      @gypsydanger1013 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@crowdemon_archives so whether or not it's more dangerous to be hypo or hyper is dependent on what that specific thing is. For instance, it's more dangerous to have low blood sugar rather than high, but alternatively it's WAY more dangerous to have hyperkalemia, hypernatremia, or hypertension. We should all just be thankful that our bodies are so effective at maintaining homeostasis. Thanks body lol :)

Like, I don't know, maybe just deal with the fact that your child is an adult with their own life now? You're gonna have to learn that lesson anyway, whether you like it or not.
Either you learn to stop now and accept that your relationship has evolved from parent/child to peer/peer. Or, you continue to incessantly check in on their life, and they cut you off because they're tired of being treated like they're still 12.

but she doesn’t HARASS me about it! she’s happy enough with a general plan! and that’s what “i just worry if i don’t know” should mean - they just want to have an idea so they know when worrying becomes reasonable (for instance, if you’re late but haven’t let them know) and when to try and get in contact with you

Now, they already know their mother and obviously knew how she felt about the father. How the hell did theyexpect it to go after that? Maybe when you want someone's help, don't start out by telling them how you're mad at them. She always fancied herself as some sort of financial genius and would lecture us endlessly about not being smart enough with our money if we got normal things like underwear or toothpaste, but in reality she was just a very gross hoarder.

Help that never came. Not many people heard about it but my grandma did and she didn’t treat me much differently. She didn’t tell me that those thoughts were of the devil or that I should feel bad for them, she just made an effort to do things I liked, make me feel more loved when we visited. One of the best bits of advice I got for helping my child’s dyslexia was that books are not the only place that reading happens. Many computer games have a lot of reading involved and it’s such a fun and low pressure way of engaging children who have reading difficulties. Also, putting the subtitles on when you’re watching tv, playing board games and card games together, even playing ttrpgs. It all helps to build those reading skills without making it an ordeal.
There’s so many places that reading is needed that aren’t books. Parents often hyperfixate on books even when they’re the most intimidating option for dyslexic children.

My mum taught special educational needs for most of her career. So many times all it took to give the kids a boost was to TALK to them about their interests and find something they wanted to read. She had children that were deemed a system failure reading material way above their "level" just because they wanted to. She also learnt some really wholesome facts about these kids along the way, from classic motor bikes, to budgies, horses and astronomy. Even to this day (she's been retired 15 years) some of these kids still write to her/ run over when they see her around town.

I wonder how many people are in a similar situation, mainly the aphantasia part. being able to picture things in you head seems important with fiction, so I wish more people knew about this and could possibly stop believing that they will just never enjoy reading

the last one, especially with the comments about SH and stuff, was really relatable. My parents always knew I was depressed, but never sent me to therapy because it was "too expensive" (it is) and "we sent you once, and you never opened up". Like okay? Maybe that shows I have trust issues or refuse to talk to people? That doesn't mean ignore my failing mental health.
During the pandemic, my parents isolated me, legit isolated me - phone once a week, no outside, all I had was online school and that's it. They could go out and stuff, but I was stuck in my room with nothing to do. I don't exaggerate when I said I could feel myself losing touch with my sanity as well as what little mental health I had gained. I became very depressed and lonely since they were very neglectful as well, hardly speaking to me at all beside to wake me up or call me for dinner.
eventually I lost it and hurt myself. I confessed to my friend, feeling both guilty but also scared because I didn't like how good it felt. My parents overheard the phone call and demanded to know what "I didn't want them knowing that I shushed my friend". Knowing I couldn't lie, nor think of one, because they'd just weedle it out, I confessed and they GUILTED me for it. "How do you think we would feel if you killed yourself" "I had a girl I used to babysit and she killed herself" "That was a really selfish thing to do" and blah blah blah. Not once did they ask WHY or how they could help, only how they felt in the situation. They then acted as if it never happened, which made me feel even more alone. They still refuse to acknowledge I need help. I've fortunately moved out, getting free from them and joining in on the "pretend nothing happened". They only know of the first time, and they don't even know how suicidal I truly can be, or how long (since I was 10, which is NOT GOOD when a child is feeling that way). They just refuse to admit I have any issues, yet still claiming I need help no one around me, including myself, can afford

Their child was underage when the camera was installed! Those parents are criminally liable for making CP!!
If the camera records any minor getting undressed at all even, then it's legally CP and they should rightfully go to prison
That's even without them recording anything between their daughter and her boyfriend who was also a minor most likely too

I'm on the autism spectrum and have dyslexia. Special education classes actually made me fail in elementary and early middle school, I decided one day to try on my own and scored a 100% on the test where going to the special class made me score in the 40% and below. The classes can be rigid and force students to learn in the way they expect which doesn't work for a lot of kids.
I also found a way to read that I loved and began excelling in school and reading because I figured out a way to learn that works for me and my disability. (Note this was a tiny school in a tiny town so there was no one on one learning plan for children with learning disabilities, and I'm incredibly lucky to have been able to find what works for me at a young age)

That makes sense to me. There needs to be a huge degree of flexibility and student-driven learning to help kids succeed, and there’s just not really enough good teachers and resources to provide that. Good teachers need more financial support and deserve more understanding and cooperation from parents.

That teddy bear recording shit is so incredibly illegal. For an 18 year old it could fall under wiretapping, stalking, harassment, illegal surveillance, or even some type of revenge porn laws. Since they've had this several years, that means they were recording her as a child. On top of all that, they've also got child abuse, maybe sexual abuse depending on the content, CP production, possession, and possibly distribution
I pray that this kid finds out because her parents were fucking idiots, and it's well within the statute of limitations. I hope somebody "helps" them and talks to her. This is a written confession, along with all the tapes, the bear itself, wherever it was being backed up, and everyone they undoubtedly told about this scheme. If there is any sort of karma or justice in this world, they're going to be rotting in prison

35:08 I totally agree. I am also dyslexic, and I hated reading so much when I was young. I never read anything I didn't have to for years. It wasn't until I got into gaming that I started getting better at reading. I played World of Warcraft with my GF for a long time, and needed to read chat a lot, and the quest text and lore was very interesting to me. So I would read it and after a while I started getting a lot better at it. Now I read quite a bit and really enjoy it. I also struggled with typing really bad too. Not sure if that is related to the dyslexia or not, but gaming also helped me a lot with that. I used to type with one finger, now I am not a fast typer but I am far faster then I used to be. Finding some thing that you enjoy in the things you struggle with is extremely important.

My parents had an absolute mess of a divorce, and even both my father and step mom checked in with me and my sibling to see how we were doing and if we were okay when my mother passed.
The person who messaged her kid/stepkid bashing the kid's father in that way is an absolute disgrace of a human being.
Edit: uh, the parent threatening to break into their kid's house - yeah, so for context, I was scared of my mother ever making it to my state for similar reasons, I stopped sending her pics because she'd immediately post them online and talk about how expensive stuff was, and even stopped sending pics of my dogs. So yeah, there are parents like that, totally acceptable to cut off or reduce ties if you can without jeopardizing you or anyone else involved

Oh, God - the mother who freaked out over the 19 year old who slept in reminded me of my mother. After I was well on my own - a married homeowner - she went into a panic because she “saw a car that looked like” mine in a ditch. It was justification for her to call and then come by unannounced when I didn’t answer.
My car was a green 4 door sedan. The car in the ditch was a blue 2 door sedan.

Yep, my parents once freaked out that I'd been pulled over because they drove past a car that looked just like mine. We live in different cities and I drive the most common color of a very common make and model. Like the model was basically the same for 6 years, a lot of cars look like mine. They should be well aware of this since the car used to be theirs and they tried to get into the wrong car more than once growing up.

44:50 I know these parents don't think because of the obvious (Jesus being king of the jews and being jewish). But I'm sure they are also the type to think that the American flag is sacred. So wouldn't the flags that are supposed to look like the American flag being stood on being disrespectful? Like they could have just bought a regular pride flag but they chose one that looks like the American flag.

51:14 Regarding the last post: As someone who has been hospitalized for SH and game ending attempt, it makes me so grateful to have the parents I do. They aren’t perfect (no one is) but after hearing how some parents reacted to the same situation I’m very grateful. When they found out I was in the hospital (I was an hour away at college, I was not the one to tell them so I didn’t even know they were coming), they dropped everything to drive to see me. I wasn’t ready to see them for a couple days but they still came back every day during visitation hours in case I did want to see them. They were with me through all of it and gave me space when I needed it. They didn’t always know what to do or say but they tried their best and I love them very much.
