    Your videos always make me so happy! 😁
    It's interesting to see how the magnets pull out that yellow/brown color from the pigment.
    I'm guessing this stuff is made similar to how ferrofluid is made, but enveloping iron nanoparticles. Instead of coating them with oil, they're enveloped in a reflective colorful coating. I think the yellow/brown is just tiny particles of the iron/iron oxide that hasn't fully been coated with the color. 🤔
    I actually think it looks pretty cool! Reminds me of the dust clouds around nebula and galaxies with millions of stars all around.

    • @resinAce
      @resinAce  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The yellowish brown pigment also shimmers but only when the light hits it from a very wide angle. The coloured shimmer is produced when the light hits it from the front. It's an interesting effect that I would like to experiment with some more.

    Am I the first one to like this video? 🤔 Either way, I wasn't quite sure on the results were at first, because after they dried, I thought the star dust glitter had totally retracted, but at the end was please to see the results and thought that it was probably just the angle/light of the camera at the stage of reveal. I would love to start using the same in resin along with semi precious gem stones.. I just need more room to start.. You were one of the first people that I started watching, so you gave me the inspiration to want to start using resin 😊👍🥰

    • @resinAce
      @resinAce  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The resin is clear but the cats eye powder looks yellow/brown unless the light is reflecting on it so it changes to a dazzling colour. It was difficult to demonstrate with my lighting and camera in a fixed position but all the yellow will shimmer and shine at the right angle.

    First mold, my eyes ((👀))!!! These are very cool! So many options!!
    I have those measuring spoons, I love them! I have so many questions!
    How did you know the powder would react that way?
    Can you do thin layers, alternating colors and epoxy them together?
    Or could you do one thin layer, allow it to set, then rotate 90° and pour again?
    When you stacked the magnets for the kaleidoscope did you find they provided a stronger pull?
    Is it possible to first color the resin then add the powder?
    This is just great! I really enjoyed it! Gotta get over to Etsy!

    • @resinAce
      @resinAce  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cats eye powder was developed for creating effects with magnets on fingernails, and it was videos of that process that inspired me to try the powder in epoxy resin. Yes you can do it in layers as long as your magnets are powerful enough to produce a magnetic field beyond the first layer (you could always suspend magnets over the top instead). Stacked magnets will produce a stronger pull until the stack is equal to the width of the magnet. After that it gets no stronger. You can try tinting the resin but I haven't tried it yet.
