The 2.0 litre motor is a great idea. I think it opens a whole new category and level for future machines like you guys said. As for danger, thats all down to the rider's responsibility. You could have a 1000hp machine and still be a curtious rider. Knowing when and where to open your machine up is very important. I'm a Pro Xp rider. 181hp is nice and its alot when on tight trails, but when im on the open fire roads i wouldn't say no to a 300hp SXS. Neither would you any of you out there!!
Love you guys. Been watching Dirt Trax and Snow Trax TV since the beginning. Just wanted to remind you after listening to you speak about naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engines and horsepower claims. Honda has a 2.0 litre engine in the S2000 that produces 240 hp. They are also the number 1 manufacturer of engines in the world. If there is one thing that is proven over the last 30 + years is the Japanese manufactures of 4 cylinder engines absolutely destroy any and all others in terms of dependability and reliability. All of the 1 liter super bikes make over 200hp, that's 200hp per liter, so there is that! The Yamaha engine in the wildcat XX makes 130hp per liter also besting the Honda and Polaris.
Honda doesnt make the S2000 anymore. I wasnt commenting on any engine in history, I was speaking about the current marketplace. Everyone has a different story about reliability or durability. I have friends with 20 year old Polaris ATVs that are still running. I know multiple people with original RZRs and RZR S's that are still running great. Nothing is bullet proof. But there is not "actual" evidence to support the idea that Polaris SXSs are not durable. Every MFG has weak points.
Polaris has basically created a new category, this thing is aimed at the guy in Baja or Moab where 40k is just a starting point to build a toy. And like both Lester's said, it will be sold out fast. I gotta give it to Polaris, it's damn impressive on paper. Let's hear the ride reviews
These are desert rigs, my state has 65 inch and 2000lb limits. I run a 61 inch and that is tight on alot of trails around here. Trails keep getting shutdown due to damage, almost all private land. Rite now I can ride from my door yard, I'd guess soon I'll need to trailer it to ride.
I think a lot of us are thinking the same. This is getting a bit ridiculous. These are track machines. No longer trail machines. So can we still classify them as SxS?
We need to have the discussion that this machine and the can am that follows are to big and fast to be on trails with atvs/dirtbikes. 2000# plus machines have not business hitting 80 mph on tight trails, and most trails are 2 way, making it even more dangerous.
I think we crossed that threshold a long time ago. The machines already on the market are powerful enough and heavy enough to kill somebody if driven recklessly.
@@NSER164 quads dont have the suspension or stance to fly down the trails like modern sport sxs do, even a new rapter 700 or scambler dont keep up with sxss in rough trails, and any idiot can press a gas pedal, where to be fast on a quad takes talent and practice, plus a 600 pound quad compared to a 2500 pound sxs loaded with 4 people pushing it over 3000 pounds is dangerous.
So I have a grizzly 700 and a Pro XP. I live in Oregon and we have every kind of trail here. On sand or open dessert my Pro Xp would destroy my 700 all day long but on rocky and dirt trails that twist and turn through trees my 700 would smoke a Utv every time. I guess it depends on you’re skill level but this is my own experience I’m speaking to. I will also say as a guy who rides 40 or 50 days a year I got hit once this year and had 3 close calls one which put me in the brush but all 4 were Atv riders being reckless not one close call with a Utv. That’s not to say I don’t see people in Utv’s driving like idiots because I do but let’s not act like it’s not a problem with Atv’s as well. This year I have put over 1000 miles on my Atv and almost 700 on my pro so it’s not like I’m a 2 weekend a year rider. We all need to be cautious and respectful on the trails regardless of what we’re driving and we all need to remember we are there for the same reason which is to have a good time with our friends and family. Be safe everyone and let’s stick together and look out for one another!
Lol, yeah, we honestly did know that, but we like to make fun of how they claim "useable" travel. No other industry does that. Wheel travel is whats valid and is all they should talk about.
So awesome. I've already got mine on order. Can't wait. I love the innovation from polaris and can am. Seems like the other oems are quickly getting left in the dust
My guess is the “useable suspension travel” is including tire compression. So measure from the bottom of the tire from off the ground to full compression on suspension and tires when it hits the ground.
@@drew4769 any atv trails in NC/VA/WV The state classifies all atvs as less than 999cc, even NC who just went street legal with sxs has a 999cc motor size limit for it to be a sxs and get tags on it. So if you want to ride any atv trail in NC/wv/va it will need to be no more than 999cc
What are your thoughts on other brands? Will this set off another boom in side by side sells? When is enough toy enough, like the argument between buying a jeep compared to sxs? I agree if you have the money to spend, and you want the best of the best. Buy once cry once.
Sweweeee. I’ll be sorta the price guy lol. I’m not hating on anyone with the cash , heck if I had the cash I wouldn’t care either lol. It is kind of scary to think about the amount of people who will buy one and after taxes , prep , filing fees even the low end one will be well over $35,000.....beat them to pieces in 1-2 years and depending on said persons financing clout , this is one machine you could wind up wayyyyy upside down on fast ! And at least in my state , trade ins or down payments do NOT effect your sales tax on OFF ROAD machines , only on road . I’m all for whoever can afford it of course , just hope some are careful with their financing and treatment of the machine . It’s exciting for sure ! I’ll keep enjoying the X3 lol.
the reality is, its basically just the suspension. There are a few other changes like the unitized hubs and other stuff but for the most part, its a pro XP thats got all new suspension and Dynamics DV
SORRY BUT THIS IS GOING TO LEAD TO RESTRICTIONS PLACED ON TRAILS. I am an avid UTV rider have had ATVs since a Honda Big Red May be relegated to the desert?
Why? Its too wide to fit on most regulated ATV/SXS trails. Its no more or less dangerous than the Pro XP we currently have. They both do over 80mph. How is the R any more dangerous?
People say Honda have more than 100hp per liter engines.... and they talk about civics and the s2000..... Think motocycles ... Honda had more than 100hp per liter engines at the end of the 70s ! more than 40 years ago... 225hp from 2.0L may be a lot or not..... it depends of where on the powerband are you getting those 225hp.... or how much torque you´re getting when you get those 225hp. On the Polaris RZR PRO R specs you can´t find those numbers of course.... they say "horsepower 225" and that´s it. All 1000cc sportbikes engines have more than 200hp.... so allmost the same horsepower as the RZR with half the displacement... but at nearly 15.000 rpm ! That´s not very useful on the trail... The S2000 gets it´s peak horsepower at half the rpm of a sportbike... but the engine is twice as big... A car engine is diferent than a motorcycle engine that is diferent than a big rig engine. If you want to compare cars between cars, SbS and SbS you can talk about horspower, but if you´re going to compare a SbS engine and a car engine... you need to talk about TORQUE.
Over 150ft/lb of torque. I think I was told its an 8200 or 8400rpm redline. Max HP and torque are made in the high 7000's and low 8000's I agree with the point your making though. 225 naturally aspirated hp thats made at a more useable RPM level and with big torgue to match is more impressive. However, your comment about "all 1000cc sport bikes make more than 200hp" Thats not true at all.
What are they doing to help it's turning radius? Being wide is great, but not when you're trail riding. Maybe they could do something similar to what Ford did with the new Bronco.
I’m on a 4 month hold for my 2022 turbo r 2 seater, coming out of swfl. I wish they was 10k more so less people would be buying them and we didn’t have to wait 4 months to buy one. But I’m pumped can’t wait!
Yes, you are correct. It no longer uses the "on demand" system. Its an electric locker with a dash mounted switch. 2X4, 4X4 unlocked and 4X4 locked. The Turbo R likely wont get this setup.
I'm not complaining about price, I'm saying just saying I won't spend that on a sxs. It's not that I don't want too, it's more like I can't. Maybe one day
Come on man. Your not comparing apples to apples and you know it. If it were fair and both were turbo'd, the Polaris motor will be capable of well over 300hp... Not to mention, your not even comparing a stock can am.
It has a completley different chassis, longer wheelbase, more rear travel, stronger roll cage, different 4X4 system, bigger clutches and belt.... and more I cant remember off the top of my head.
I think they made there line up easier. Xp’ are all 64 wide. R is 74 wide. Pro is top of the line turbo is not. Example is Turbo xp versus top of the line pro xp.
And before that Can Am had to update to have something that even compared to a polaris. Whats your point. Its alway a game of cat and mouse. Its the same in ANY industry. Thats why there are toasters with bluetooth. Because the competitors toaster didnt have it.
Can Am claims that the smart shock setup on the Maverick XRS adjusts rebound as well as compression. But im wondering if maybe they are linked... not separate. Going to ask next time im with a can am engineer.
Slingshot used 2.4l gm eco tech until 2020. Then in 2020 Polaris made their own similar to a Honda motor in house 2.0. It’s a Polaris in house motor that’s only been in slingshots a year or two.
@@Upliftyourbrothers Thanks for the info. I didn't realize the Slingshots were using a Polaris engine now. So the new SxS is probably using that engine.
I think u consider what u get vs what u would have to buy to be comparable suspension it’s priced fair. Trophy truck keeps getting thrown out there cuz it’s the only thing with this kinda wheel travel. Price those and think about maintenance cost, and warranty, good luck lol. Not a Polaris guy but i own one and a yxz and I will be upgrading when I can actually buy one. Will not order anything, same for the speed utv.
Honda doesnt make the S2000 anymore. But give me a break man, I dont have time to research every import car on the planet to cross reference the HP numbers. My point is, its a big deal to make 225hp out of 2 liters NA. And weather theres one or two automotive motors out there that do it to is irrelevant. There are MAYBE a handful of STOCK motors that can boast these numbers.
Right! People are so sprung on this engine, I think it’s going to have tremendous issues with belts. Every single time I’ve gone to the dunes I’ve changed at least one rzr belt and I don’t think this will be any different. What the fan boys are failing to realize is that these things are flat out ugly, always have been. They look like a Pontiac Aztec. I’ll stick with my 2020 turbo RR. Can am will continue to step up with future models and still be on top of the industry
Nice machine. Too bad it will never make it to northern New England. Maine has already given the middle finger to non resident riders with units over 65”.
@@pavmentsurfer13 when there is a turbo already on it, it's easy for an average person to flash it. A full on turbo kit is much more expensive and harder to install. Anyway, with an accessory belt drive now, I hope we see some supercharger kits.
You never gave an answer about being over 1000cc so here it is. According to the Shock Therapy video, Polaris said that the SxS manufacturers had an agreement that they wouldn't make a SxS over 1000cc. Well the manufacturers got together and rescinded that agreement thus the new engine
People only blow belts when they dont treat them properly. The Pro R has all new, much larger clutches and a way bigger belt with better cooling. I think it will be fine.
Im trying to figure out why polaris made that claim of being the first with independant compression and rebound control. Im wondering if the compression and rebound are linked somehow with Smart Shox.
It's supposed to be a toy. The 4 door launch edition is 55k! Fifty five thousand goddamn dollars. You can buy a new quad cab 4x4 truck for 5-10k less. The previous set was expensive this is stupidity.
@@fozzybear9114 then go buy one. A truck or jeep can't touch what these machines can do. My pro xp could junp.over a house at 130kmh and be fine. It would take 50-60k of mods to get a jeep or truck close to what these (basically baja trophy trucks) can do
@@ShannoMan90what the pro xp can't do that the rubi can.... use public roads. So not only do you pay 55k for the new 4 door but you pay 4k for a trailer and 45k for a truck or large SUV to tow it. Plus all associated fuels and insurances. Want to know what else your pro xp can't do? Use 1/2 of it's potential we as Canadians simply don't have the wide open space to open it up
You do understand that your not required to buy one right. The price is irrelavent really. Those who can afford it, will buy it. Those who cant still have dozens of excellent options to choose from. Why complain about stuff like this. Do you stand outside the Ferrari dealership and complain about how much they cost too?
@@pavmentsurfer13 I understand that completely and I can afford it but the prices are so ridiculous from a financial aspect it behooves one to examine their life at a level that makes a 55k side by side purchase a bad proposition. Unless you're making 250k a year have no mortgage wife or kids there's 50 other things 55k should be going to. But hey it's their money and life choices not mine. No I don't stand outside a Ferrari dealership bitching about the prices. Their prices have been astronomical for 50 years, and they can command those prices for the technology, brand equity, materials and residual prices, none of which Polaris can claim. If price is irrelevant why not charge a million, maybe 5 instead. Of course price is relevant and I understand it's a halo product, but at least with say a new corvette Z06 I understand why it costs what it does, and not chasing a market with tech and parts that were sorted and established on Ivan Stewart's race truck some 30 years ago.
great infos from you 2 , moreandmore horses....everything improves, but the weakest point thins dozend of years are the belts, i dont heare about this point anything !?!?
@@holladay08mtm I’m just going off what Dirt Trax said at the beginning of the video. It’s cool that they’re making more than 100 Hp/Liter, but they’re coming across like they think Polaris is the first to do so. Hell they even brought up Honda in the first place.
@@holladay08mtm let’s be honest, that Honda had to go through far more regulations and crash testing back when it came out than side by sides ever have or will.
@@Trek_tread I agree completely. It's relatively easy to achieve high power per displacement if you make an oversquare engine. But that also means you get very little low end torque and have to rev high before getting into the powerband. Those Hondas like the S2000 didn't make much power until high in the rev range, and this engine will probably be the same. It doesn't make for a fun car engine because of the lack of low-end torque, but I imagine it will work much better in a SxS due to the CVT allowing quicker revving to the powerband.
People are so sprung on this engine, it’s comical…I think it’s going to have tremendous issues with belts. Every single time I’ve gone to the dunes I’ve changed at least one rzr belt and I don’t think this will be any different. Can am will continue to step up with future models and still be on top of the industry. Can-Am is not all that far off anyways regarding horse power to weight ratio. I can’t wait to see a drag race between the two. Even if the Can-Am loses all you have to do is slap a tune on it and say bye-bye to this thing and look wayyyyy better doing so.
Walked into a Can Am dealer not long ago, and the first thing he said was that you are going to blow belts with the X3. 1600 miles on my 21 Pro XP and not a single issue with the belt -- it has never slipped either. Fast, slow, rocks, water, dirt. Just returned from 3 days in Moab, and it killed it.
@@rodneysessions7463 You are probably a good driver. Belts slip when you abuse the machine and/or if they are not maintained. These UTV's are designed to be driven, even hard but not abused or revved super high immediately after water submersion. Moab is also a very dry climate which probably helped somewhat (it would dry quickly.) If the belt was in water for hours, then driven like you stole it, I can assure you that it would slip. While in MOAB, I hope you took on H*lls Revenge. I just completed that epic trail in a rented KRX-1000. We had too much fun. We are headed back next year for round #2. That first fin will wake you up. Which trails in MOAB did you explore? If you didn't do Chicken Corners, you will definitely want to add it to your list for next time. Shafer Trail are White Rim are also great but SxS's are not allowed since they are in the national park (we rented a Twisted Jeep.) Long Canyon is fun as is Fins N' Things. On the way to Sand Flats on the left is Baby Lions Back (they closed the big one.) It is still a very steep but short slickrock section (only 5-10 minutes to complete.) There is a ton of great riding to be had in Mill Canyon. It also offers some of the most diverse terrain in the area as well. You have sand, rock crawling, hills, water/river beds, open sections, etc. You can actually ride from that area (behind the airport- "Blue Hills Rd.") all the way to the very fun White Wash Sand Dunes in Grand County- about 25 miles SE from Green River.
@@MOAB-UT I have been to Moab over 20 times, I live in Utah so it is one of my favorite destinations. I have hit all the major trails in Moab multiple times. South of town, there is Hook N Ladder that is very fun and Flat Iron Mesa. The trails in Moab are endless, I am still hitting trails that I have never been on before.
Its cool but I can't wait to see canam answer to this. 1600cc ace 350hp from sea doo. The 2.0 will be an issue in some areas but will any law enforcement be checking, possibly not. The independent C and R on the fox live valve is gonna be sick. Its different because with the SS when the shock is stiffened the rebound will also become slower which is ok for a big jump but it can get loaded up in big whoops. The motor isn't moving that fast, its just the speed the computer is scanning.
We had the actual information and specs before the public did. We thought people might be interested to hear out thoughts on it. If you dont like it, dont watch it. Its really simple. No one is forcing your eyes open and making you watch.
Usable travel is from the bottom of the tire at full droop to the skid plate. They do this because can am has travel that’s above the frame so it’s not usable in any way
Welded aluminum box control arms huh. Trophy trucks don't use that, and the new polaris dosent use that either you guys sure no alot about thus car for it only being out for a short time.
Not a trophy truck guy. But my comments about the suspension on the RZR were correct. Boxed and welded A-arm and trailing arms. Only mentioned aluminum in regards to trophy trucks, which, I had always thought they were. But if there not, I just learned something. However, I never said the arms on the RZR were aluminum. They are, in fact, steel.
Wait tell people start putting turbos on them. Oooooo boy. 225 is not much when you can get a x3 with 200 hp and with a 500.00 tune to max out the turbo and hit 250 but to have a 225 hp motor and add on. Can’t wait to see it.
Have you looked at it? There will be turbo kits available in 5 minutes. The exhaust manifold is entirely exposed so adding a turbo manifold would be SO easy. Then, youll be able to make close to 400hp. No to mention, you can get parts at an actual dealership whenever you need them. Any word on the Speed UTV's dealer network or parts availabilty.
Built for west coast riding. Too long, and too wide for us here in Ontario. I'm on the fence of buying a SXS mainly due to where I live and not being allowed to use the roads to access trails. I understand what you guys are saying about price, and I don't disagree. That said these are supposed to be toys. While this isn't multi million dollar yacht territory, we're well in excess of nice truck for the family territory. Live within your means etc etc. There's guaranteed to be some stupid kid who'll wrap one of these around a thick ass pine forcing some kind of gov legislation.
I dont necessarily disagree with you. But the truth is, the 181hp Pro XP is a way faster vehicle than any trail in ontario can handle. And anyone who buys one of them could wrap it around a tree any time. The biggest limiting factor of these new R models is the width for places like ontario. If your looking for the top of the line Polaris for riding around here, you want the Pro XP. Its 64 wide so it fits just about everywhere (but not literally "everywhere"), its ridiculously fast, comfortable, great features...
@@pavmentsurfer13 Hi Luke! I hope all is well out there in Haliburton! You're 100% right about the width and power of current machines, with the new 72" offerings from Can-Am scraping that 200HP mark. Down here just east of the sh*t hole known as Toronto in Clarington, our trails and trail access is extremely limited, and sled trails are generally what we'd be using so width isn't so much of a concern as I used to run my Jeep down a lot of them. I want one pretty badly but having to deal with fines and the fuzz on top of paying some 28k plus taxes for a base Pro XP just seems to keep pushing me away, not so much the price of the machine but regulations.
All of the 1 liter super bikes make over 200hp, that's 200hp per liter, so there is that! The Yamaha engine in the wildcat XX makes 130hp per liter also besting the Honda and Polaris.
No thanks. I will complain about price. A lot of people can swing the prices of these things and for me I'm priced out the market once these things hit $20k. Plus this machine just won't work here in the Northeast.
So, what your saying is that its not a vehicle you would ever buy because its not suited to where you ride... so its not a vehicle you would consider anyway, but you still complain about the price.... even though youd never buy one anyway. Did I get that right. Besides, what does YOUR budget have to do with the price of the Pro R or Turbo R. Theyre both out of MY budget too, but Im not complaining about the price. Id just buy a cheaper model that I CAN afford and be happy that, in time, the technology used on the R models will eventually trickle down to the ones I can afford. stop complaining. Buy and drive what you can afford and be happy about it.
I can see your point when it comes to trails. But in the dunes, this isnt ridiculous at all. Its too wide to fit on most trails anyway so I think that point is going to prove to be very minor.
If your making the point that we dont have one on hand... they were officially released the day we filmed. We'll get one as soon as polaris releases them to the media.
First of all, I am not impressed with squeezing all that HP out of a small motor. That means it is going to be overworked, high revving and less reliable long term. This machine is also heavy and will get poor fuel economy. Starting out the video by disparaging your audience is probably not going to win you more fans. People have a right to "complain" about an overpriced machine. It is what killed the ATV market. Potential customers have a right to express their concerns. No need to insult them. People work hard for their money and want value. They appreciate new machines and want them but not at prices that most cannot afford. A 2020 KRX can be bought for about half the price of the RZR. In no way is the RZR twice as good or twice as capable. This machine would be decent for $25k. I like the new roll cage and suspension but it is going to be too far too wide for most trails. The new shocks will be very expensive if you ever have to replace them. The shoulder harnesses need to attach below the shoulders. 225HP, very heavy and still running a CVT=FAIL. Save the smart shocks and give us a real transmission. Learn from Yamaha. You said we can ask questions- here is one. Did they ever get around to fixing the infamous RZR fire issues that they delayed for many years and as a result hurt so many people? If so, what specifically did they do to address their well known design problem? Not good to put profit ahead of safety.
Side by sides killed the atv market not the price if atvs. You act like this is the only option. Polaris has a whole lineup of RZRs. Many are below 20k. You don't need to buy the PRO R you can buy an xp1000 or rzr trail
People do have a right to complain. But I have a right to say that theyre being ridiculous. Do you stand outside the Ferrari dealer and complain that theyre too expensive to everyone who walks out? I can say whatever I want. If a viewer is offended by my point about complaining about price, theyre too sensitive. Like Drew said, if you dont like the price, buy a cheaper one. Sounds to me like your just a polaris hater who wants stuff to complain about anyway. Also, did you just complain about FUEL ECONOMY? Man, I laughed out loud at that one.
@@pavmentsurfer13 You can say and do whatever you like- have at it. I also have the same right to express my opinion (not a complaint.) Personally, "I" would go with a slightly used KRX1000 for about half the price. If money is no object to you, feel free to buy 2 of them. I am not sensitive because I genuinely do not care what you do. I won't miss a minute of sleep if you buy several of them. A Ferrari is not a good comparison. I know people who buy them. Many do so as investments. Over the last few years they have appreciated quite a bit. I'm not sure that will be the case for your RZR but again, go for it. Your only point that I might agree with is that I am not a huge fan of the brand. Whereas this machine does have many good things going for it, I simply do not appreciate a company that clearly puts profits ahead of it's customers safety. They knew all about the ongoing fire dangers for many years. It was like pulling teeth and took numerous lawsuits to get them to make changes to the design. Even after the recall and cheap, quick fix, fires still happened far more than amongst other competing brands. Where we ride in MOAB, two women from Arizona died horrible deaths over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 2016) in a Polaris. I will spare you the details but it wasn't pretty. It tipped over slowly and they couldn't get out fast enough before it became a fully engulfed fire ball. They did not stand a chance. On a properly designed machine, this would never have happened. The design of the fill tube was such that it cracked the cap when it tipped on it's side. Fuel then rushed out, hit the exhaust and only seconds later it was all over. I did comment on fuel consumption, yes. So what? I'm not sure if you ride much, but where we go (very deep into the canyons of MOAB, UT), it is not always convenient or particularly safe to carry extra or enough fuel. One trail alone (White Rim is 100 miles.) The terrain is many areas of MOAB is very challenging and roll-overs are not uncommon. In the KRX, I appreciate that I can ride an entire day of moderate to spirited driving on a single tank- without the need to carry extra fuel. No, I am not sweating the extra $20 for fuel so no need to LOL. You seem to be making a lot of assumptions about things you appear to know very little about. It's just a thought but in the future, it might be better if you first asked people why they have certain opinions, before replying emotionally, absent of actual facts.

Polaris has basically created a new category, this thing is aimed at the guy in Baja or Moab where 40k is just a starting point to build a toy. And like both Lester's said, it will be sold out fast. I gotta give it to Polaris, it's damn impressive on paper. Let's hear the ride reviews
Ill be rocking in the trails as well. Why not?
A couple years and we may have a v8 in one of these things
Great overview, looking forward to shoot outs!
Boy, the trails are going to be a DANGEROUS place when these overpowered things show up! It’s already sketchy out there with the current ones.
The 72's barely fit going by each other on trials these wider ones aren't gonna fit! Hahahaha
Hahahah most of us are over 200hp now. I run a x3 and run 205hp at the wheels so about 250hp at the crank. More the the rzr.
lmao where I ride every side by side makes more power than this one.
@@silveradoguy87 turbo S is actually 74 inch.. idk why polaris is claiming 72 inch
I agree with what you said at 4:05. If you don't want to pay those prices, then buy a different model.
I think a lot of us are thinking the same. This is getting a bit ridiculous. These are track machines. No longer trail machines. So can we still classify them as SxS?
Yes.
Polaris clearly said these are desert and dune SXS's. Doesn't Polaris offer a number of 64" and under "trail" SXS's?
We need to have the discussion that this machine and the can am that follows are to big and fast to be on trails with atvs/dirtbikes. 2000# plus machines have not business hitting 80 mph on tight trails, and most trails are 2 way, making it even more dangerous.
I think we crossed that threshold a long time ago. The machines already on the market are powerful enough and heavy enough to kill somebody if driven recklessly.
The quads have been hitting 70-80 mph for years
@@NSER164 quads dont have the suspension or stance to fly down the trails like modern sport sxs do, even a new rapter 700 or scambler dont keep up with sxss in rough trails, and any idiot can press a gas pedal, where to be fast on a quad takes talent and practice, plus a 600 pound quad compared to a 2500 pound sxs loaded with 4 people pushing it over 3000 pounds is dangerous.
Great point Kimberly. I ride these trails and agree- they can come up on you fast around blind corners.
Can’t wait to see the walk around and test drive review.
So what's the verdict on the engine displacement and how they are able to do this
Super high revving motor mated to....a CVT! I have to question long term reliability.
@@MOAB-UT yeah we will see. Not a cvt fan
@@MOAB-UT The CVT is considerably larger with a larger and WAY stronger belt.
@@pavmentsurfer13 I would still prefer a real transmission. If you have even been stuck on a trail with a bad belt you would too.
Useable travel is how much travel it would have to cycle through before the underside hit the ground.
Lol, yeah, we honestly did know that, but we like to make fun of how they claim "useable" travel. No other industry does that. Wheel travel is whats valid and is all they should talk about.
Bro, you guys need to do a CFMoto lineup update! These things are sick!
Hell yea we got money over here 😂😂😂 I tell ppl that’s called really good credit lol these things hold value is why I love it
Glad to see Polaris raise the bar higher.
They mentioned lower gearing in low for the new models. I hope that goes for the normal pro xp too.
So awesome. I've already got mine on order. Can't wait. I love the innovation from polaris and can am. Seems like the other oems are quickly getting left in the dust
very informative thankyou
When polaris talk of usable travel, they add 4" because the tire can compress 4" before the frame hit the ground
My guess is the “useable suspension travel” is including tire compression. So measure from the bottom of the tire from off the ground to full compression on suspension and tires when it hits the ground.
yep, they mounted the 4 cylinder longitudinally vs transverse like most FWD car 4 cylinder motors
The 1,000 CC displacement is not a government mandated limit.
Not yet. Let’s go Brandon
there is a 999cc limit on lots of national forest and blm land for "atv" trails as well as a decent amount of off road parks.
@@AboutaMileAdventures please name 1 national park that has a 999cc limit

First like. And first comment 🤘🏼
Whats the difference between the rzr pro xp and the turbo R ?
64” width on the rzr pro xp vs 74” on the turbo r
the reality is, its basically just the suspension. There are a few other changes like the unitized hubs and other stuff but for the most part, its a pro XP thats got all new suspension and Dynamics DV
SORRY BUT THIS IS GOING TO LEAD TO RESTRICTIONS PLACED ON TRAILS. I am an avid UTV rider have had ATVs since a Honda Big Red
May be relegated to the desert?
Won't be legal in WI due to 65" state max width
This! This machine could spark a whole slew of new regulations that affects everyone
More speeding, accidents,noise etc…
It’s been happening for years obviously but this should speed the restrictions up a bit.
Why? Its too wide to fit on most regulated ATV/SXS trails. Its no more or less dangerous than the Pro XP we currently have. They both do over 80mph. How is the R any more dangerous?
What’s the weight difference ? Also you mentioned stopping power. Does it have automotive rotors ??
Aluminum Top Hat rotors with 6 piston front callipers.
Only question I have is how am I gonna jam this thing down the trails in the northeast because I need to have this machine it's sooooooo bad a!!!!
Max HP and torque are made in the high 7000's and low 8000's
I agree with the point your making though.
I believe Polaris also builds trail model rzrs… This is not one… I believe this Pro R is purposely built for wide open range like the desert and Moab…
@@reddzrzrrider1086 exactly, I have a rzr trail 900. It’s the only rzr that offers a selectable open rear differential for tight turns

I would like to know if the Turbo R has the same drive train as the Pro R, not the motor, but the axles and diffs.
Pro R has a different front diff with a locker and in the rear the diff is separate from the tranny so completely different than the Turbo R
Does the pro R sport come with a roof?
Thanks
I saw the drive systems were different between the Turbo R and Pro R. The Pro R got a front locker? Are they going to offer that for the Turbo?
Yes, you are correct. It no longer uses the "on demand" system. Its an electric locker with a dash mounted switch. 2X4, 4X4 unlocked and 4X4 locked. The Turbo R likely wont get this setup.
Glad they beefed up chassis. Now can am will too

Come on man. Your not comparing apples to apples and you know it. If it were fair and both were turbo'd, the Polaris motor will be capable of well over 300hp... Not to mention, your not even comparing a stock can am.
So let me get this right, the Pro R has a bigger better engine and more hp then the turbo?
It has a completley different chassis, longer wheelbase, more rear travel, stronger roll cage, different 4X4 system, bigger clutches and belt.... and more I cant remember off the top of my head.
I think they made there line up easier. Xp’ are all 64 wide. R is 74 wide. Pro is top of the line turbo is not. Example is Turbo xp versus top of the line pro xp.

Its probably first shock cause it adj rebound electronically, can am is manual adj for rebound
Can Am claims that the smart shock setup on the Maverick XRS adjusts rebound as well as compression. But im wondering if maybe they are linked... not separate. Going to ask next time im with a can am engineer.
Anyone gonna make a turbo kit for the pro r?
Is the motor based off the Chevy Ecotec?
I didn't think of that until you said it, but that would make sense considering it's what's used in the Slingshot.

Honda S2000 made 240 hp out of their 2L back in the year 2000 so good try.
Honda doesnt make the S2000 anymore. But give me a break man, I dont have time to research every import car on the planet to cross reference the HP numbers.

Long Canyon is fun as is Fins N' Things. On the way to Sand Flats on the left is Baby Lions Back (they closed the big one.) It also offers some of the most diverse terrain in the area as well. I dont necessarily disagree with you. But the truth is, the 181hp Pro XP is a way faster vehicle than any trail in ontario can handle. And anyone who buys one of them could wrap it around a tree any time. The biggest limiting factor of these new R models is the width for places like ontario. @@pavmentsurfer13 Hi Luke! I hope all is well out there in Haliburton! Down here just east of the sh*t hole known as Toronto in Clarington, our trails and trail access is extremely limited, and sled trails are generally what we'd be using so width isn't so much of a concern as I used to run my Jeep down a lot of them.

Belt drive🤦 but it's a completely insane buggy.
I'm sure its awesome but this is just too much its ridiculous and I'm not referring to the price
Agree
I can see your point when it comes to trails. But in the dunes, this isnt ridiculous at all. Its too wide to fit on most trails anyway so I think that point is going to prove to be very minor.
@@pavmentsurfer13 yeah you’re right. This is a dune/wide open desert track car. For trails, the normal pro is excellent.
Costs as much as a 2021 jeep rubicon.
Haven’t been to a dealership in a few decades, huh?
TRX $110,000
really dont have the machine
If your making the point that we dont have one on hand... they were officially released the day we filmed. We'll get one as soon as polaris releases them to the media.
this is stupid imo unless you are dune racing across deserts
The Tesla "Cyber-Quad" is going to destroy this entire Industry let alone this ahem "value added product"(NOT!) ahem.
