We are def. compatible in the areas we overlap (a lot of horror), so I need to check out some of the other books you mentioned!

I loved shel silverstein! I picked up the poem books from costco a couple months back for my boys. 😂 The boxcar children was also a fave of mine growing up. 🤗 So glad you did this tag. I definitely understand your reading taste more and kinda wanna pick up some of your faves in horror. I can’t lie though i am a scaredy cat 😅

      This tag was so fun!
In terms of horror, maybe don't start with my recs because they can be pretty brutal tbh hahah
I'll think of some beginner friendly options for you & send them your way!

Loved Charlotte's Web and The Boxcar Children as a kid! Shel Silverstein was always a favorite of my students, and who better to introduce them to as a way to pique their interest in poetry!
I also consider The Immortal Life of Henrietta Locks and Home Going 5 star books. I am intrigued by several of your contemporary favorites - The Bluest Eye and the Secret Lives of Church Ladies.
I'm not so much into horror, though you may convince me to pick one up someday!

So excited to see you mention The Long Walk. It’s one of my favorite King books. Ahh I didn’t love I’m Thinking of Ending Things. I found it a little predictable. If you liked it though, you may like A House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward. Ring Shout is so good. Tender Is The Flesh is on my TBR for July.
I’m not big on thrillers either. I find they’re either super predictable or so far out there that it might as well be aliens. Coincidentally, I loved The Push and Bright Young Women too. Have you read Notes on An Execution by Danya Kukafka? Not really a thriller, but it takes a similar approach to the subject as Bright Young Women.
The Ocean At The End of The Lane is one of my favorite Gaiman books. I got through American Gods, but it’s not my favorite. I definitely recommend checking out The Between The Earth and Sky series by Rebecca Roanhorse.
    Chain-Gang All-Stars. So good!
Luster is a book that’s been on my TBR for a long while. Maybe I need to bump it up. I just finished Homegoing like a week ago. Really well done. Yes, Emezi is a fantastic author. I just picked up Little Rot last weekend and am looking forward to reading it.
Yes to As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow! One of my all time favorite reads. Monday Is Not Coming has been on my TBR for ages. Definitely need to bump it up.
How To Be An Antiracist is fantastic. I just picked up Stamped From The Beginning a few weeks ago. Henrietta Lacks is heartbreaking. I read Know My Name in March after avoiding it for years. It was so good. I just finished In The Dream House last week. Fantastic read. Some other nonfic that I’d recommend if you haven’t read it is The Bone Woman by Clea Koff, Between Two Worlds by Suleika Jaouad, and Unbound by Tarana Burke.
Btw. So happy to see you back to posting and congrats on your channel growth.

I'm just now catching up on comments. 🫣😂
      - MORE PEOPLE NEED TO READ "A LONG WALK" hahha
      - I've had A House on Needless Street recommended to me quite a few times so I'll check out the synopsis and see. 👀
      - I really enjoyed Notes on an Execution. My only gripe was that I think the male murderer's POV almost overshadowed the female POVs which is almost the inverse of what the point of the book was....imo. The writing was exquisite though & I will definitely pick up another book by this author.
      - I haven't read Roanhorse yet it is on my TBR!
      - Have you finished Little Rot?! If so, your thoughts?!
      - Never heard of those three nonfiction books so I will go check them out. Our tastes are SOO similar in almost every genre! It's pretty wild!
      - Thanks so much! 💛

Since you love The Color Purple, I highly recommend In Search of The Color Purple: The Making of an American Masterpiece by Salamishah Tillet. I read it earlier this year and it made me love The Color Purple even more.

I love this compatability book tag. I definitely feel you on Fantasy. Check ✔ for Mistborn, Tress, Chaing-gang All Stars and GOT. In terms of classics I too love, The Color Purple. In terms of Akwaeke I read and loved " You Made a Fool." I lean more on the romance reading myself. I don't really read Thriller/Horror, but my favorite include The Walking Dead comics, The Passage by Justin Cronin and Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King. Based on your video I didn't see any romance besides Heart Stopper. If I were to rec anything in romance based on your taste I would say Tia Williams or Donna Hill. Specifically Seven Days in June/ A Long Song for Ricki/ Confessions in B Flat and I am Ayah as I think these titles offer romance, but with topics such as history, art, culture etc.❤

You're right...I don't read a lot of romance but I am starting to dabble in it a bit this year! I will definitely be checking out "You Made A Fool Of Death With Your Beauty"! ☺️
I've also heard great things about The Passage so I'll look into that book as well.
      Thanks for the recs!
