    After watching you for the first time last year and seeing the beautiful spuds you got we decided to do the same with out year 1 class at our school.
    The kids were overjoyed to see the crop we got approx 30 kilo from 12 50lt pots. All the children in the school got to eat roast spuds and still a few to take home.
    Thank you for the inspiration.

    Gorgeous crop! I have never heard of the Blue Danube variety of potatoes, but they look amazing. I once made a winter beet borscht using all blue, purple, dark green and black ingredients; purple beets, blue potatoes, purple onions, seaweed, kale, and a little blackstrap molasses. Incredible! I'll bet those Blue Danubes would make a rich, flavorful addition to my borscht.

    Okay, I've found you have several vids on spuds so I'll be viewing those. Grown them for years on the farm in soil but it gets more difficult every year with excess rain, wireworms, weeds, heat, cold, you name it. I'm excited about containers in a hoop house and I can thank you for that. At my age it's been awhile sense I've felt motivated by excitement. Failures have become all to common. Thanks

    I just love the way you treat your produce. In so many potato reveal they throw them in buckets or on the floor! You on the other hand treat them nice. I wonder if those persons realize that they may cauae damage to the spuds. Anyways keep up the good work! And I'll be trying your recipe see if I can have better luck this year.

    Wonderful harvests! I'm trying to get better at container gardening potatoes. I'm not sure whether to harvest when the plant dies back or at the suggested harvest time period. If earlies mature at 70 days, should I harvest at 70 days or wait for the plant to die back? If it's when the plant dies back, how far back? Complete dead foliage or yellowing and dying leaves?
    I have been harvesting at the recommended amount of days, but in the videos, folks are telling me to wait till the foliage dies and the potatoes will be bigger. My concern is that the potato might continue growing for a lot longer hurting the potatoes by either allowing them to rot or sprout. I've come to you as the known expert on container taters.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks Dan.

    • @Allotment-diaryUk
      @Allotment-diaryUk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just harvest when they die back, no need to leave any longer as you say they may rot.
      If you're not sure just empty a pot out whenever you think and judge it that way.
      For me as soon as it starts to yellow and look sad it's time to pull 'em up.
      Cheers, Dan.

      I think it's not what you meant, but the rats moved out of our place after we introduced feral cats, from a feral cat rescue. They are cats that will never be domesticated but will hang out if you them feed and offer them outdoor shelter. Ours have a snug dog kennel now, which they have come to feel safe in. They are neutered/spayed, and catch the odd squirrel/ pigeon / mouse.
