I don’t know if this is right but this is how I see it: The monster is his illness - always there in the background, following him. He tries to escape from it (drown) and then to ignore it (he’s not alone) but it’s always there. Perhaps when his soul ascends he sees it. And when he faces it, it brings him gifts (apples). He learns to use it.

Anthony Ray - I love that you brought up “the victim and student “line from hi ren. That is a line that so many people seem to have slept on. I find it to be very telling about how he can be so positive in the face of such adversity. He doesn’t look at himself as a victim. He is the student, and is choosing to learn how to live with his pain and illness.. He is really amazing.

“Shakespeare re-enacted, adapted for music, it’s too sick” only Ren could do this line then smash a Kubrick scheme, I’m pretty sure Ren will move into film directing

While Ren is brilliant I think we have to give credit where credit is due to Black Pegasus & Anthony Ray for their ability to tease apart the lyrics & music. Kudos to you both

One of my favorite and very underreacted to works of Ren. The lyricism is cool and the musicality is amazing. It's a very yin yang vibe, which even is shown in the black and white theme of the video. I won't pretend to understand all of it, but I get the overall arc of the thing. Very very cool. One of his best works.

He can't beat his demons they will always be there and follow him. So Ren comes to a realization that it is less painful physically and mentally to share with his demons and except they will always be there instead of fighting them. The demon could not grab the apple, it needed help, Ren was going to help by sharing.

Wow, the Shinigami catch is amazing Mr Anthony Ray! Kudos to you. I've seen this video literally hundreds of times and never even thought of that, but you're spot on, it must be. Now you've got me looking at Death Note and Japanese folklore, goddam it! See you in about 4 hours! Glad you both enjoyed this, because this is one of my top 3 go-to songs (of anyone, not just Ren) - the mixture of lyrics and vocals is just beautiful. Can't believe it still has less than a million views.

This is literally one of my top 5 Ren favorites, which changes often, but this seems to always be in the top 5! This and Hold On!

BP hits on something about those of us that connect because of our pain. A tragedy or a miracle, It happened on these very streets

This is one of your best reactions, to me. I liked your interpretations of the video by Ren. As a person who suffers chronic pain everyday, this particular song speaks to me, especially where he ascends & leaves his physical body. It’s emotional but empowering!

Stanley Kubrick was 71 when he passed away. The references I picked up on here were to

  • @davidmarcus5833

For me One of Ren's best pieces of writing.

  • @mrdarengilbert3907

    Such an awesome reaction

  • @MissyGail4eva

I love how raw Ren's voice seems in this. 🌈ᥫ᭡

  • @jamesh2401

This and Diazepam are my favourite Ren tracks. Easy. The Kubrick scheme is brilliant.

  • @sorenm.lairdsorries7547

Thank you 🙏❤ Anthony Ray & Black Pegasus ❤ for your 🐷 Ren - Heretic reaction!

  • @Silkytoaster

This is one of your Ren reactions that I enjoyed the most .

  • @twistedpixel756

all the Kubrick references in that one line: The Shining, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut. You might even throw in Dr. Strangelove from the Atom Bomb mention in the lead up....like bro, chill

  • @katinka4288

found this song only two days ago, because ren dropped an accoustic version on his patrion of this and now im obsessed 😅

Your Hero's Story analogy is in a ton of his music, His transition from darkness to strength, "Power" is an obvious one, "Genesis" is more covert, so I'm gonna break it down fully. It's gonna be a book, but i'll skip the more obvious or less important points. It's worth it, trust.
