Hi Bro I have a router provided by my ISP its a fibre based. Can I configure pfsense using this? Also what do I need to do physically on it like which port is required etc..?
hi , what kind of router your provider gives to you? is that possible to install any operating system on that ? if not you can use any old pc and install pfsense on it
@@sinaonline This is the model :- dbc HGU-V210-4AC you can check it on google its a fiber optic based router. I don't think I can install any OS inside this router. Also as you say I can install pfsense on a PC. I am already using a PC can I install pf sense on the same system also do I need to use any ports on the router after I install the pfsense on PC ? There are total 4 Ports on the router 1st port is PON (fiber optic cable attached) 2nd port is a telephone cable port nothing attached to it 3rd & 4th are LAN ports one of which I am using on my system
@@sinaonline Hi Bro so the router that my ISP has provided is DBC Technologies HGU-V210-4AC 1100 Mbps Router, which I don't think I can install any OS in it. Also I have this router connected to my PC. In your above comments you have mentioned to install pfsense on an old PC, can't I use this same system to install pfsense on it? On my Router there are 4 Ports. After installation of Pfsense do I need to use any of these ports? 1st port is PON (fiber-optic cable is connected to this port which directly comes from ISP) 2nd port is a phone line port nothing is connected to it 3rd & 4th port are LAN ports one of which I am currently using on my system.
Hi , you can use DMZ feature on your Router so every packet comes to your public IP address will forward to DMZ port , and connect your selected DMZ port to your PC. you can install pfsense directry on your PC or if you are using windows you can install pfsense on windows hypervisor (Hyper-V). if you are using for first time install pfsense on hyper-v may be not so easy to configure the network interfaces.
Could you please provide a video on how to setup a lab like yours
sure, i will do that as soon as possible 😊
THANKS
you're welcome 🙏
