That is their advantage as when you see XD matches the male and the female would normally have a clear height difference but they can play whatever they like as their both around the same height so they can play like MD or XD but because MD is obviously stronger than XD most of the time they play like MD just because they know they can lose in XD so they play like MD to stand a chance

I watched this match in 2018 and i thought japanese pair had lucky won... however after i saw Watanabe in late 2019 and all england 2020, he is one of the greatest double players right now aside of kevin sanjaya... Arisa is very good also, but watanabe is monster today

Need speed, solid defense and discipline... Japanese players have it all... In wd they have solid defense, in md they have speed, and they try to mix it in XD
tbh arisa have pretty weak defense, at least according to this final match. they won because in the second game yutanabe take more risk playing this placement shot trying to get the initiative rather than just playing it safe lifting and lifting again like the first game. yutanabe are so special though, incredible court awareness...similar to kevin.
I think yuta's racket skills, defense and smash are all world class. His cunning playstyle on top of all that separates him from others. Zheng si wei can smash well but it's not good enough to go past yuta's defense.
