Citrus gal here! I think the general rule is don't let it fruit for about three years so it can grow in size and strengthen its roots. If you think about that tiny plant trying to support that many fruit form its current blossoms it's not going to fair too well. However three years is a long time, life's too short, and the scent of citrus flowers is of the best, especially in the morning, so maybe leave one or two on there once the blossoms create tiny fruit, thats what I normally do! Loving the vids from Sydney Australia 🐞❤
Thanks for the tips! I'll leave just a couple then. They are kumquats so the fruit should be relatively small, and 1-2 seem like they'd be fine for the plant to support.
Zone 6b here, dry as you know what this year. I had to use tap for all annual plants (perennials had 0 issues; deep mulch). Typically this time of year I use my rain barrels to make tea for the emergence of my summer rotation; barrels are dry. Im going to add more barrels for storage.... My success rate with germination (summer) is half of what is typical for me. I think the tap could be the culprit.... I may be wrong( I hope).... I had some excavation done and reseeded my lawn at the same time. The grass seed was exclusively fed tap and is doing fine.... I don't know if soil temperature cooked the seeds or what.... I did screen the lawn; growing grass in the summer is impossible without it... Had to be soil temp, right?
It's hard to say. Soil temp can definitely be part of it, but to 'cook' the seeds the temp would have to be at least 130F for a week. They could just be dormant waiting for things to cool down. But also idk much about tap water in other areas. I know it's not as good as rain, but if it's safe for people to drink I see no reason it would actively harm your plants.
Same here with the heat and drought. I finally have ONE lone cucumber on the vine. It's bonkers! We have a cool down coming with like 7 straight days of rain in the forecast after none for weeks. Curious to see what that will do in the garden. Hopefully, everything will be so happy and start fruiting! Unless the forecast changes... Hmm. I wonder if I should harvest the potatoes. Plants are dying back. Was thinking of giving them a little more time but don't want them to split with all the rain expected. Really hope you get some peppers and eggplant! Love the spider! I love them in the garden! I had a baby praying mantis in the garden today. Such a cutie! Take care!
This time of year our forecast says rain possible every single day, but it's pop-up thunderstorms that if they do manage to hit will leave maybe a tenth of an inch of rain max, so it's so hard to tell when there will be actual rain. I'm happy for you that you're going to get so much good rain though! I'd say get those potatoes out, if the plants are dying back theyre not going to get any bigger. It's just more time for pests to make holes in them. I had a full grown praying mantis the other day, I wish I'd gotten a picture of it! I hope that means there are more, they're so hard to see. But having them is such a good sign!
It's so good to see what you got going on in the garden Rachel
I love relaxing on my patio. Someday my garden will be in my backyard

Hey what a fantastic garden tour thanks for sharing 😊😊
Do you enjoy eating tomatoes now ? Those "little sweeties" peppers look perfect.love the arbor and new furniture 👍👍👋🇳🇿👨🌾🐈🐈⬛ NZ 🌺
I'm still not a fan of raw tomatoes but I very much like the tomato products I make each year, such as sauce, salsa, and sundried tomatoes.

Nice video! Haven’t seen your garden for a little while. How big of an area are you growing now?
The main garden is ~30x30ft, and I have 6 raised beds as you saw, plus the berry patch including the fruit trees is about another 60sqft?
@@AuxhartGardening that’s awesome!
