- Megadeth playing The Mechanix from the Rude Awakening DVD. This is the original way it was played in Metallica before Dave got kicked out. Metallica then rewrote the lyrics and changed the name to "The Four Horsemen". AND IF UR GONNA CRITIZICE DAVES PLAYING THEN DONT WATCH IT, YOU FUKS. HE RECORDED THIS AT A VERY YOUNG AGE WHILE HIS VOICE WAS HIGHER. SO IMAGINE HOW IT IS TO SING IT NOW.
i am more of a metallica fan but i love this song more than the four horseman. Just the drum work alone makes it better but i also like the blazing tempo it is played at
This is like 1.5x as fast as the studio recorded version thats why.
Bruh the drums aren't that much different other than throwing bunch of double bass or triplets and like more fills, essentially its a complex version of lars's
Mechanix ---> Enjoyable for moshing, headbanging and more "thrashy". Much fun.
The Four Horsemen ---> Enjoyable for chillin' time, more melodic and musical.
I love both version :D
4:02 James??????
I think it's him. Looks an awful lot like him
Hahahahah maybe
only complaint is the bass drums is too loud in the mix
if you look paciently, you will see a hidden-Hammett backstage, trying to learn some tones
I love both songs for different reasons. I love the speed, rawness, and intensity of The Mechanix. I also preferr the lyrics to the Four Horseman and I love the slow section in the middle. I know Dave wrote the song when he was really young, but they really do sound kind of like Motley Crue lyrics. Either way the "best" way will always be with Poland and Samuelson!
My god!!! Never knew. Love this
megadeth and metallica are the best thrash metal bands! thank you for kicking dave out and giving us megadeth!
That's actually Jimmy DeGrasso on the drums.
Dave's such a nice guy, nothing like his songs, its all Inside :), Metallica, except for their songs i hate everything of theirs!
Hes not as nice as you think he is. I heard a story of a guy who went backstage to meet the band. This was in 2010, he was wearing a metallica top and dave told him to fuck off.
"There are two ways you can hear this next song: There's our way... and there's "their" way... So those of you that think this is "their" way, this song is called THE MECHANIX..." Definitely this is the one and ONLY, I love it!!!
....the BEST THING metallic EVER DID ..... WAS FIRE DAVE MUSTAINE .
RIGHT !?!
The best thing they ever did was Ride. Haven't done anything since.
Gwyn's Last Knight
You obviously haven't heard any songs in Justice
Mustaine is my favourite guitarist. But damn his vocals suck.
Honestly speaking Dave Mustain has one of the best and unique vocal in the world of METAL. And I absolutely love it.
james write better lyrics and sing better, but mustaine got better riff
MUSTANE WROTE EM ALL
almost
nayson gomes no, cowrote only 4 songs(being the principal writer in those) and some are the worst in kill em all
Nah
Dave Mustaine (guitar), David Ellefson (bass guitar), Al Pitrelli (guitar), and Jimmy DegGrasso (drums)
I LOVE THIS VID!! THE GREATEST GIFT! THANKU FOR POSTING THIS, IT REMINDS MI OF THE "GOOD OL DAYS" :)
With metal it's not about having a opera voice its about how you can display emotion and dave is great at that... he can really show anger and aggression and he can also pull off songs like in my darkest hour and a tout le monde.
"The Mechanix" is a song performed by American heavy metal band Megadeth. Dave Mustaine originally wrote the song for Metallica, and later brought it with him to Megadeth. He was kicked out of Metallica right before they recorded their debut album, Kill 'Em All. The remaining members of Metallica then changed the lyrics and added a new bridge section as well as a new, melodic guitar solo, and released it on the album, retitling it "The Four Horsemen". Mustaine was still given credit for the song
I missed this song when I saw them in Coruña... However, an unforgettable concert (3-29-2011). \m/
@jasko071 Well, he's said on multiple occasions that he's not a singer. He's a guitarist that managed to get roped into singing as well. Not to mention, it takes an amazing amount of skill to sing with the emotion that is on the record whilst playing incredibly fast and complex guitar parts.
dude, i'm a Megadeth fan and my fav band it's Metallica, and i gotta say thank you Dave Mustaine and James Hetfield for giving us this fuckin' awesome song
@TheOddin I love the bass drum in this, I wish I could hear it better in the Studio version, that's why I watch this vid so much.
Woooow....Crazy...wonderful...really fucking trhash speed metal..Mustaine is a METAL god....MEGADETH RULEZ
I still love Hetfield rockin out in the front row at 4:03
@MidniteHaze1 Man, what's wrong with you? Why am I troll? I know the song is called the Mechanix, but what riff they play at 0:41?
Yes, and in the band at the time was Dave Mustaine, who wrote the song. So no, this isnt a cover, this is his own song, He just changed the lyrics, added an intro, and turned up the tempo.
Metallica with Burton on bass and Mustaine on lead guitar would have been the most brutal, meanest, heaviest, incredible band in the entire world. Dave is truly a brilliant guitarist. Rest in peace Cliff!
Can't people just agree that both Metallica and Megadeth is equally good bands?
Dave wrote the Mechanix when he was in Metallica, but when he was kicked out James changed the lyrics and title to The Four Horsemen, and Dave wrote half of kill em all and some of ride the lightning(Including The Call Of Ktulu(Cthulu)
@Tarkess It's not only because of James' vocals....speed is not always a more aggressive way to play a metal song....Sometimes you must know when you must make a song more fast and when you must not.....
@TheBudgetGuitarShow the only dave's riff Metallica used in Ride The Lighning is in the interlude part before the solo , it's a little like the intro dave added for The Mechanix
now that james and dave are buddies again i would love to see them to some kind of colab with both versions
This is the right way for this song!GO MEGADETH
@01110206 the four horsemen is similar to the mechanix...read the infos...
*This is the original way it was played in Metallica before Dave got kicked out. Metallica then rewrote the lyrics and changed the name to "The Four Horsemen".*
Apples and Oranges. I still love both...
this is our way
MEGADETH FTW
oh also the lyrics were written by dave and changed for kill em all but dave used the original lyrics of the mechanix since there were his
@DaPitbull40 What does Meshuggah have to do with Metallica? Anyway, Meshuggah are Experimental Metal innovators, loads of people take inspiration from them, including Gojira and other huge bands
This is the best performance of the song you'll ever find!
could anyone WRITE me what says Mustaine at the beginning of this song? I don't speak english and i don't undertand so good.
Thanks...
"There are two ways you can hear this next song: there's our way and there's their way. For those of you who think this is their way this song is called The Mechanix", kick their asses, Dave!!
@mrfailsalot I know, but why " Metallicock " ?
love when both top comments are the same.
just to be clear on The Four Horsemen gets credits Hetfield / Ulrich / Mustaine - that s official on album Kill Em All.
@mattistheman1 he's referring to Metallica (their version of this song 'The Four Horsemen')
@skorpionrazor is that really james hetfield or a similar :)) ??
@inhuman96 It IS the four horsemen before it was stolen by hetfield.
That was sick!
so i dont know the story on this. Why the same song but different lyrics for each band? who's is the original? did something happen between the two bands? someone catch me up to speed plz
@cricetoslim How can it be a copy if Dave wrote it?!
Mechanix? HELL FUCKING YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
\m/ yes \m/
AWESOME!
Why are the bass pedals turned up so high my subwoofer cant take much more
Nope, The Mechanix was used too be from MetallicA too. But They have renamed and changed the lyrics when they kicked out Dave.
Sem palavras!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@MetaLManiA456 Slash played the solo for Sweet Child O Mine.. but GnR are playing it.. does that mean they stole it?.. Mustaine played that song while being in Metallica. so the song will be in the Band so as Mustaines.. it's called Sharing Custody. of the song
This song is amazing !!
There are two ways you can hear this next song, there's our way... and there's their way. For thouse of you that think this is their way, this song is call "The mechanix"
so this is what a megadeth concert sounds like from inside a base drum
@TheGenieMan5000 I agree with you its ridiculous I love both Megadeth and Metallica....They are some of my biggest influences, without them I wouldnt have picked up a guitar! Both Mechanix and Four Horsemen are equally awesome!
@TheBudgetGuitarShow i know it's dave's song ...i refer to Ride The Lightning ..that notes that he added on the intro of the Mechanix , are like the ones Metallica used in the interlude of Ride The Lightning ( and they mentioned that they're dave's ) ...
Que show é esse??????
@Wiktor0070
no. Dave wrote it.
read the book! mechanix is his song.
I love the intro!! lml
@snakepitrockerHQ
would be brilliant
but whose lyrics to use haha
"i do it for my life" i fucking love Mustaine's voice, fuck YEAH!!!
METALLICA AND MEGADETH
THE FUCKING BEST
from colombia
I think that on the big four tour that megadeth AND metallica all go out and play this song and have dave and james switch off on vocals, and when each guy sings they sing the words to their version.
i've finally heard mechanix live
why cant megadeath and metallica fans just go along
I'm a big metallica fan
but as i see this
I just see a young metallica.
cant criticise that
@dstncowles yes this is the original demo by METALLICA they maked it the four horsmen, and dave mustaine kept it like this,
so he stole it
heheh I loved the introductory words ;)
When asked if James Hetfield really attended this concert ( 4:02 )
Dave replied, " ( 3:51 ) , also when asked how he felt about it he said ( 4:11 )
AWESOME
with dave's way to play it and the lyrics that metallica use nowadays this would be the perfect song. (like dave's way more because there is more speed in it and you can still hear that its to F*cking awesome)
Hahah "theres THEIR way."
Your a funny, strange guy Dave your still a badass and we still love you.
--LET THE FACT THAT WE ARE ALL METALHEADS UNITE US--
4 fucking mechanicals horses YEAH ! Speed as hell !
Is that Colaiuta on the drums?
Jimmy DeGrasso
Actually it's Chick Corea on the drums
@kjn5991 "The Four Mechanix"?
you can tell how much he loved this song by seeing the way he gets into it its a shame METALLICA made it famous with a different version
@Chester1004 I didn't say in my last comment that cryptic writing was a failure , I said both risk and cryptic writings had mainstream music and 2 or 3 tracks in an album doesn't make a complete album thrash metal,Risk was a failure which made them go back to their roots. James currently may not posses that same voice that he had in late 80s or early 90s but the man has given 20 years of his life to make thrash metal famous among the people and at least respect him for that.
The fuckin solo in this song is just insane.
@Aashish343 Lol was that really him or a lookalike
buenisimo tema espectacular!!real mente espectacular!!!
well im a metallica and a megadeth fan so for me it doesnt matter who sings or plays this song or how dave sings it and how james sings it. they both rock and this was originally daves song and he is playing and singing this song great.
you can hate dave or metallica but you forget that there is enough place in this world for both bands so if you dont like one of those bands just dont say anything of that band and enjoy your favourite band. and then you have no f*cking problem
@traceurhero Daves voice is just perfect for Megadeth, its' raw, it's snarling, it's perfect!!
@GuitarGuru245 with respect their is more than one name on the song credits not just mustaine's i just wanted to state that if it had not have been for Metallica or (metallica did not exist) nor would Megadeth and we would all have a huge gaping hole in our metal souls. but I am glad he is no longer pissed, i realize that both bands are cool with each other now
i love both versions and i've heard debates about which is heavier. instrument wise, they're pretty much equal. lyrics wise - metallica own. the four horsemen of the apocolypse vs a mechanic? no contest
Metallica - The four horseman = sweet
Metallica - The Mechanix = fucking epic
Megadeth - The Mechanix = changing you pants
@biqMAKnificent he wrote the four horsemen, jump in the fire, creeping death, and phantom lord in full. he also wrote riffs for call of cthulu and ride the lightning, not to menbtion laid the base for all of kirk's solos on Kill em all. Lol,so to "help" write songs is an understatement :p
@MrBaphomet666 That would be the title track and When Hell Freezes Over (The Call of Ktulu). Half of Kill 'Em All really. Hence the title of Megadeth's debut.
I thought the kick drums were triplets on the verses.
I love the tempo of 'The Mechanix', although I love 'The Four Horsemen'. I'd give 6/4 towards TFH just because the nice chilling rythm part after the break. Matter of tastes I guess.
Our way all the way!
ok some one plz tell me wht he means when he says "theres r way and there there way"? i think i have an idea but not sure plz help
i like the four horsemen's lyrics more, but the tempo of the mechanix is just more brutal!!
still love both bands!
