@@notlucas6859 The USA’s war aims were the conquest of Canada, letting America trade with whoever it wants and stopping the impressment of American sailors into the Royal Navy. While at first glance they accomplished 2/3 objectives, when those objectives ceased being a factor halfway through the war with the fall of napoleonic France. Whereas the British objectives were keep Canada and prevent an alliance between America and Napoleonic France, I would say that of the objectives that remained relevant at the end, Britain met them and America didn’t resulting in technical US defeat.
This was so refreshing to see! My one big gripe with TH-cam alternate history (versus something like alt hist forums) is that TH-camrs are often much more interested in telling “objective” alternate history than they are in telling a story. Nothing wrong with the former of course, but it’s fun to see someone on here let loose and delve into a proper story rather than a simple what if
@@cosmosyn2514 it does. I have no clue what sort of Canada Elmo knows... On the national level, Aboriginal rights are highly protected and taken into account in Canada. I would love a part two for this video! Seeing how the great war changes with the addition of Mexico, a weaker USA, and a stronger Canada sounds so fun!
Canada has a weaker form of Government. It would’ve never worked. Hence why the US became the premier Super Power. Not just in this region. But the entire World.
As an American, I despise the state of the USA in this alternate history. That being said, please make a part 2. I would love to see how WW1 would play out with major fighting on both Europe and North America. I would bet on The USA joining the central powers, whether due to a higher percentage of German Americans in this timeline, or because America and Germany allying is very convenient. While Mexico and Canada both fight on the side of the Entente to get rid of the Americans, as they both hate America more than they hate each other. In this timeline I could also see America turn to more radical political ideas, fueled by hatred toward both Mexico and Canada for what they took from the US. Perhaps a much more politically involved military, adapting the constitution to replace the executive branch with the Military or something like that. Germany could use the USA to fight Canada to prevent it from supplying nearly as much to the Brits. In this timeline I presume Canada would take on a role similar to the USA in our timeline, selling and providing huge amounts of military aid to the Entente. I really don't see a reason for Mexico joining the Central powers, I would expect them to either join Canada to get rid of the USA or abstain completely in order to focus on internal affairs. Mexico would be fairly self-sufficient in almost every regard in this timeline.
Mexico may seize the opportunity to take Cuba. they attempted it with American help in real life but failed. But in this case its the perfect Cassus Beli to protect and possibly incorporate latin people, perhaps leaning on germany and italy as inspirations
"Perhaps a much more politically involved military, adapting the constitution to replace the executive branch with the Military or something like that." I can see that being much more like the Protectorate of the mid 17.c, like England had... AND... we learnt our lesson... thank god. A Lord Protector is what you would get. You'd probably deify Oliver Cromwell as the archetype of a strong Lord Protector... and his son... Richard Cromwell, (Queen Dick or Tumble Down Dick, as he was known after his deposition by the New Model Army... AND... the subsequent abolishment of the Office, 'Lord Protector', sliding back into the Council Governance that preceded the Protectorate's establishment in 1653, following the abolishment of our Crown, Priv-Council and House of Lords in the wake of the trial and execution of Charles I in 1649... with similar catastrophic consequences both times you attempt it),... as the archetype of a weak Lord Protector.
Even this bigger Canada wouldn't have the population & industry the USA had in our time. So even if they could supply the Brits or outright join the war, it wouldn't be as much of a game changer as the US joining the war was in our world.
The Canadian one theoretically could work however Mexico was politically to unstable and lacked the political infrastructure to ever control more than what it has now. An independent Louisiana would be a different story. However a lot would have to change.
maybe, maybe not. they were politically unstable, but i'd see a revolution happening, or an actually decent leader getting into power and making it at least a constitutional monarchy
@@adamelghalmi9771that’s half the political instability. Mexico honestly has absolutely zero ability to enforce any authority past the rio grande. At any point in this timeline when the Uk/federation is distracted elsewhere the U.S. could simply march into the Louisiana territory and Mexico would have no way to contest it if they can’t get full and immediate British/federation backing
This has been my absolute favorite scenario so far. I always thought that it was weird that an entire continent lacked the standard patchwork of competing nations that Europe, Asia and South America had at this time.
US forces only really arrived in Europe a couple months before the wars' end, though the US declaration of war did urge the Germans to execute the spring offensive early. Likely the war would be prolonged to early 1919, so by a few months. The Turks were doomed to lose to the British from 1916; likewise the British were closing in on the Bulgarians through the Balkans from 1917. The Austro-hungarians meanwhile simply expended too much fighting the Russians that when 1917-18 came, even when they had effectively won the fight on the Eastern Front, they were hard pressed in fighting the Italians. After those lads collapsed, it would only be a matter of time that Germany would fall too - as it did.
Here is a fun video idea how about asking your subscribers to give you fan-made countries and their history and where they are but give them different time periods like the Bronze Age the classical age and Medieval Times I think that would be a fun video😊 and they could be multiple videos on each time period
Even tho this was supposed to be fictional this is still a really realistic looking world, this could be any "realistic" alternate history and it'd work because its pretty realistic already
@@commandercody1210i feel the same although as a Midwestern I prob wouldn't be here at all. My current home would be on native owned land in the alternate time line.
You say as Canada is canonically still part of Britain in the video. They never even seceded lol some super power staying subordinate to another part of an Empire/Nation, wouldnt this make Britain the 3rd super power? Maybe he doesn't get that Canada wasn't independent until 1983 & should've just had that happen earlier. (Hell, id bet not wven you know that & if you do i bet you're in denial over it lol. Happy 30th Anniversary Canada!) Ita just odd that he keeps Canada as the status they had IRL when theyre a "super power" supposedly the strongest even lol. Britain had to approve all Canadian law until 1983 FFS.
@@shonenjumpmagneto Britain only rubber stamped Canadian law. If Britain tried to dictate Canadian law to any significant degree after ww2, it would have simply have resulted in a Canadian Republic being formed. Canada being under British rule was in name only. I suspect in this alternate timeline in would have been a similar situation. Just would have most likely accelerated the timeline of events in such a way that the Westminister Act of 1931 and the Canada Act of 1982 would have occurred at much earlier dates.
Personally I’d prefer more “stories” like this where you don’t need to worry about how realistic something is, and you’re focusing on what would be entertaining. I’d wanna suggest a scenario, where would you be able to do that?
Adding to the Timeline adjustments to make this scenario possible was the complete removal of France from North American & Caribbean affairs. With more strained Anglo-American relations, pragmatism would dictate a stronger Franco-American relations - and maybe increased Republicanism as a counter to British Parliamentary Monarchy (alternate possible evolution keeping with the foundations laid in this very interesting scenario). Additional point: On might also wonder on the erosion of Mexican control over the Northern Territories as Europeans become the main population group of these areas - and the subsequent socio-political changes which would emerge and complicate the North American Balance of Power.
A cool scenario would be an alternate version of the “Soviets winning the Cold War” where “THE COLD WAR ‘NEVER’ ENDS”. Basically that timeline just without the US and western powers getting terrible luck. But the Cold War, space race, etc all continue into the future.
I find it hard to believe that Mexico would be able to hold itself together for very long in this scenario. Too many factors like geography, a desire for democracy, and the lack of industrialization from the alternate history would eventually lead to it's collapse: I'd imagine Texas would likely get support from the usa and take most of the Louisiana territory with it after it's war for independence and it could either join the usa, doubling the size of the usa and formally giving it the Louisiana territory, or remain it's own nation and replace Mexico as a new Super Power; and the irl Southwest Region (California to New Mexico) would likely gain it's own independence too at some point if the Mexican Empire can't hold it's possible weak control on those lands. New California (Grande Pacifica?) would be a very liberal nation similar to Canada, while New Texas would likely have similar politics to irl Texas.
Mexico maintaining an estable regime, and Mexico keeping control of Texas are too different things. The second one is do-able without the need of an Empire, or large European immigration, or Mexico positioning itself as a valuable ally to the British. You just have to get Santa Anna out of the equation. Santa Anna changed the system to a Centralist regime which mean that laws like converting to Catholicism, Abolition of Slavery, restriction on migration from USA would enforced directly by the Central goverment without any possibility of getting The governor to negotiate on their behalf or look the other way. The rebellion was very likely to have happened eventually but it would have been stalled had Mexico not gone Centralist. Santa Anna also chose to go to Texas in person and took a nap in rebel territory without taking the proper precautions which led to his capture. An Emperor or President would have delegated the responsability to someone else. So even if the military leader in charge of the campaign made the exact same mistakes as Santa Anna, he wouldn't be able to offer much if captured. Santa Anna also promised the US he would convince the Mexican goverment to sell the territories they wanted if he was allowed to return to Mexico. Once in Mexico he seized power and backed down on his offer to sell those territories. In one of the first battles of the US-Mexico War Mexico lost the battle because Santa Anna refused to support a political rival.
@@kioskooperativo7266 Going off the alt history in the video, I don't think Santa Ana is really all that needed for Texas to happen. Like you said, the rebellion could likely still happen, it just happens later, and it'd be to the expansion of slavery from the American immigrants. IRL the USA supported the Texas rebellion by supplying them with weapons and supplies, however in this alt history I think the USA would be much more supportive with motive that the USA could potentially get the Louisiana territory in exchange for aiding the Texans. Mexico in this alt history it stated to be less industrialized and more agricultural in order to help suppress rebellion, however a foreign-born rebellion might counter this ideal. A much heavier supported and more militarized Texas army might be able to fight off the Mexican army, but I think an argument can even be made to say that the USA could potentially join the war itself in support of the Texas rebels: The idea that Americans are emigrating to Mexico with slaves in this alt history implies that there is still the idea of manifest destiny in the heads of the Americans, and the denial of The Louisiana purchase could possibly embolden this alt USA to take more drastic actions in expanding its borders. The Texas rebellion could just be what kicks off the alt Mexican-American war, The only difference being that the alt USA would only expand to Texas instead of all the way to California like irl.
@@Anim1013 in IRL México only embraced industrialization and immigration until the regime of dictator Porfirio Díaz. They don't mean agricultural power as opposed to Industrial power, but as opposed to no economic power. In this alternate history Mexico actively encouraged immigration early on, which would most likely be Catholics or from Christian minorities associated to the Vatican (like some in the Middle East). Some of them would already have combat experience because mercenary was a rather common line of work in Europe at the time. And many would be strongly opposed to the idea of moving to a Catholic country only to be annexed by a Protestant one. Like how the Saint Patrick battalion defected to Mexico's side in real life.
Fun fact: Both Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee served in the Mexican-American war. (The Northern Mexico campaign and Mexico City campaign respectively. Although Grant did serve in the Mexico City campaign).
America has two paths to go down. Being the strongest due to being good at both agricultural output and population, PLUS Industry. Or being the weakest, due to not really be good at either.
I feel like, while it would be nice to have a Liberal Canada, a federal confederacy based on nationalities would quickly evolve into a segregationist state.
Note on the ending off headed to ww1, it seems far more likely that Germany would attempt to wedge Canada from the UK, and if that fails the US would rush to fill in for Canada, rather than Mexico being a first choice for Germany. I won’t deny Germany wants Mexico from an economic standpoint, however it seems more beneficial for Mexico to tie themselves to the UK no matter what .
This is a fascinating video. With where the border is drawn, very curious if Philadelphia was included in New England as the city would likely be federalist, but the border is difficult to tell as drawn.
Can you look at a Scenario where the Von Cillis replace Austria as the diplomatic hegemon in Europe? They were already on their way to do that, but what if they never fell? For example the last Von Cilli even claimed all of Hungary as the regent for the King there. It'd be interesting to see this Slovene superpower.
Bad Alternate History idea: What if because Britain and America couldn't agree on what to do with the Oregon Country, they made it a independent nation? What would this new Oregon (Or would it be called Cascadia?) be like? Would they be friendly with the US and UK (I would assume more so to the US than the UK)? What influence would they have on the world? Would they buy Alaska from Russia (random but interesting question), would they try to make a small colonial empire? What would this nation do and what would history look like if it existed?
In this timeline the Mexican-American war would be more brutal during the crimean war. After 30 years of peace the USA needs to expand and only Mexico stands in his way to the pacific with the manifest destiny but in this timeline Mexico didn't loose Texas simply because the empire open himself more like a catholic safe haven for poor Europeans and not the protestant northamericans but still the northern territories have low population so the government east to the Mississippi. Taking the chance that Britain is busy fighting Russia, the USA do a massive invasion west of the Mississippi taking everybody by surprise, the imperial forces are far away. The empire starts buying weapons to Canada and the empire of Brasil, and ally, even the imperial army starts a massive rearmament for the counterattack because imperial pride has been stained and by nothing less than slavers (Morelos forbade slavery). The US knows that if it allies with Russia it could include Canada in the mexican war but American pride seeks revenge for 1812 and Canada's theft of New England.
Can you do a philippine empire where it successfully liberate itself together as the time where south american countries revolted as well, and Philippines as well as the spanish indies become its own empire?
I imagine you have Mexico join Germany in return for further expansion on the continent, for the first 2 years you have a fight between Canada and Mexico waging a war in the west with Canada much like Britain forced away from professional to a conscription Army. Yet after being pushed back despite winning on sea USA joins the war on Canada side. This can be due to German submarine warfare in the Caribbean based out of mexican base sinking American shipping to Cuba or Hati, or Mexico invading USA to try and flank the impressive defensive line Canada sets up in what is today Washington that would be based on those mountains. This would be the most interesting part as you have in 1916 trench warfare in the mountains of Washington on the great mid west plains you have a war of maneuver where by the end of 1917 sees Mexico gains halted and reversed. This alternative ww1 last till 1919, with Russia still failing to civil war, France gutted, Brian exhausted, USA tired, and Canada bled nearly white yet victorious. The first power in the central powers to fall apart was the ottoman empire but then Mexico due to the joint Canadian British blockade causing the nation economy to die. The peace of 1920 would be interrupted with France and Germany breaking out into Communist civil wars but in the Americas the peace talks are pushed through without Mexico approval. Mexico would lose much of the modern day USA west coast to Canada while all of the Midwest would be lost to the USA. Then due to the red wave spreading across Europe Mexico itself would become communist seeing it fall to civil war with USA and Canada picking at the edge. By 1930 civil wars across the world have begun to settle down, Germany lies shattered with an independent south German federation with Austria having broken off during the civil war, a communist Rhineland and a very authoritarian northern Germany still claiming to be the rightful whole. France has become communist and Russia though much reduced is also communist. Much of Easter Europe lies in the hand of a British supported Poland, Romania, and Baltic states who act as one of the last bastion of "democracy on the content." Italy only avoids a communist takeover due to the assassination of the pope leading to so much blow back from the population that even socialist parties find there support gutted due to insensitive comments said after the attack. Spain is as always on the verge of civil war. To the far East Japan has been able to get control of the military before it ran away with itself avoiding an invasion of china but still building a moderate empire out of form German colonies and the Philippines which after much strife is allowed great autonomy with it modelled after the British commonwealth system which was proven with the rising power of Canada. Many ex french colonies are handed over to Japan who keeps making such autonomous regions to handle the influx of territory. The British Raj keeps showing worrying signs of independence coming from the British bureaucrats and rulers who seek to become the Canada of the east yet there bad track record of handling the 1924 famine, growing religious and ethnic divide within the subcontinent, and the British Government back in London applying pressure to avoid this, makes the Raj situation delicate. Then finally comes Africa a area plagued by wars with the first truly independent nations emerging from French colonial territories with North Africa fully free though quickly falling into British sphere of influence. For West Africa has become the seat of a french government in exile that has begun to wage a growing war against the more northern parts of its West Africa colony that seeks to become independent like North Africa. With the rest of the colony similar to our own timeline. Soon a fight between the communist powers and the British alliance will begin it's unclear who will win, but Canada and the USA despite all their flaws, and past blood shed known now that the only way to save not only the English speaking world but mankind from the red menace unity must be maintained will stand side by side with the old mother land of Britain agasint the encouraging darkness...

Nice to see a more equal North America, divided between the three powers. You should totally make a part two. I think Mexico wouldn't join the Central Powers. Germany sent us the Zimmerman telegraph, and tried to woo us over our lost lands in the North, which wouldn't happen here. Instead, imagine them siding with the British/Canadians and the USA going Central. As the USA is kind of on Mexico's position here. The US has a lot of bad blood with them, they basically split the state between themselves, and the US is still a lot stronger than OTL Mexico. So they might dare go to war, while our Mexico knew it was a foolish idea. Maybe Germany would promise territorial concessions in Canada and Mexico. Btw Iturbude was actually a opportunistic Spanish General who allied himself with the revolutionaries at the very end, due to political reasons and when he saw where the wind was blowing. He also only crowned himself Emperor when no European house would take the Mexican throne, which I wonder if it would happen here. Although I know this is alternate history, so that's okay. He was basically the man in charge of quashing the rebels, so him flipping much earlier could mean a smoother Mexican Independence War perhaps, and he would have better rebel credentials to be able to hold on his crown.

@@Santrix125 Yeah, plus Britain has been one of Mexico's biggest allies here if you think about it. Both might dislike the US encroaching on the Caribbean as well. Agustín de Iturbide wasn't a rebel general, he was the guy in charge of squashing the rebels, and he wasn't able to, so when the church status was challenged by the Cadiz constitution, he allied with Vicente Guerrero, THE rebel general, and marched over México
Didn’t he switch sides because both sides were exhausted, with the empire being a compromise? On the other side, he has been nearly satanised for being relatively conservative, even though he didn’t even actually appease the conservatives, and at least some people actually liked him
The way you're always original makes you the most peculiar and interesting what if channel

I would love a part two for this video! Seeing how the great war changes with the addition of Mexico, a weaker USA, and a stronger Canada sounds so fun!
Canada will always be weak we could hold the entire continent and still ruin it
Canada has a weaker form of Government.
"Perhaps a much more politically involved military, adapting the constitution to replace the executive branch with the Military or something like that."
I can see that being much more like the Protectorate of the mid 17.c, like England had... AND... we learnt our lesson...
How much money can we donate to this part 2?
Even this bigger Canada wouldn't have the population & industry the USA had in our time.
So even if they could supply the Brits or outright join the war, it wouldn't be as much of a game changer as the US joining the war was in our world.
This was fun! I would like more videos like this in the future.
I will be honest the US is not feeling like a super power of this one

This is actually one of my favorite scenarios you’ve made.
The Canadian one theoretically could work however Mexico was politically to unstable and lacked the political infrastructure to ever control more than what it has now. An independent Louisiana would be a different story. However a lot would have to change.
Agustín de Iturbide was the strong figure in Mexico
maybe, maybe not. they were politically unstable, but i'd see a revolution happening, or an actually decent leader getting into power and making it at least a constitutional monarchy
Please make a part II. Amazing video!
What if the USA was partially neutral during ww1 (still supplying entente but not committing to the war)
NGL, that feels weird, not helping Britain more directly.
Love it, part 2 coming??
Here is a fun video idea how about asking your subscribers to give you fan-made countries

You say as Canada is canonically still part of Britain in the video. Ita just odd that he keeps Canada as the status they had IRL when theyre a "super power" supposedly the strongest even lol. Britain had to approve all Canadian law until 1983 FFS.
Welp canadas bad at everything long term so it wouldnt work out well for us
@@shonenjumpmagneto Britain only rubber stamped Canadian law.
Why does this scenario remind me of the movie: the good the bad and the ugly

Great video! I hope you make a continuation with the XXth century of this timeline

We NEED a part 2

This should have a part 2! i love the world (i am not biased at all being canadian)

Did anyone think Canada was Georgia from the thumbnail?
This is actually a very realistic scenario all things considered.
No it aint. USA was brutalized for the sake of a Canada/Mexico fedish.

The person in the image that you put is Fernando VII king of Spain from the bourbon dinasty

I agree alot with you, as i wrote in my comment, i think the USA will join the Central Powers and Russia might join Central Powers too since they lost Alaska in battle with Britain, so this can turn out so many ways
@@Santrix125 Yeah, plus Britain has been one of Mexico's biggest allies here if you think about it. Both might dislike the US encroaching on the Caribbean as well.
IRL, China is obsessed with Taiwan because it blocks off their access to the pacific sea. I think great power Mexico might want to secure a way out of the Caribbean and into the Atlantic without American Cuba in the way for similar geopolitical reasons. It would be very easy for Mexico to be swayed into the Entente. Imho.
Though I disagree about Russia. IRL, it didn't care much about Alaska, and their distrust of Germany likely hasn't changed. Neither have their territorial concerns in Europe.
@@MineJuatense i totally agree with you on the top two paragraphs but Russia might join against the Entente since they did not sell Alaska but instead they lost it in a war with Canada which might have hurt their pride hence they might join the Central powers. IMHO
@@MineJuatense plus almost all of the original Entente powers were against Russia in the crimean war and Turkey might join the Entente to regain crimea and balkans, this gives Russia the incentive to join the Central Powers and not the Entente unless Germany or Austria attack them which has a good chance of happening
@@Santrix125 You have a point. OTL, the flashpoint of the original war was between Austria-Hungary and Russia. But due to butterflies and more hostile Russian relations with the West, something else might happen to trigger a war. Something that could lead to Russia and Germany forming "Team, screw the British Empire". It's possible yeah.
This goes hard. Maybe someone can mod this into hoi4.
