A typically terrific take on this topic which has, as you pointed out, fallen a little out of fashion over the past couple of years. When I made my own video on the Divine Feminine last year, I was surprised to find how thorny and entangled with politics the topic had become, and ended up having to make several videos beforehand to 'prepare the ground' as it were. Even so, the majority of the comments I received were about "when is the Divine Masculine video coming out?" 🤷‍♂️ ...which I see you have pre-empted with your introduction - definitely kudos for foresight there 😅
I really liked your approach here, factual and well researched as always, with usable tips for viewers. Great stuff! Thank you for this and for everything you do (and have been doing for a while now!) for the magickal community! 😊🙏

Yeah, I don't like how politicized this discussion has gotten, as most of the political points of contention in the topic can be broken down and the fears around it pushed away through further conversation and elaboration. And yes! I am so excited to start working with the hekataeon, I was flipping and reading through it a bit, and I can already tell it's a beautiful piece of occult literature.

I don't like applying archetypes to the divine feminine and masculine because they are more than that, it's important to remember gods and goddesses are our very specific human interpretations of these energies, they are aspects of aspects

    • @DanielSanchez-yi9cr
      @DanielSanchez-yi9cr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I think the key is abstracting and dehumanizing the concept of "penetrating, dense, limited" aspect
And the "fluid, receptive/hosting, totality" aspects of duality. Traditional gender roles so faintly echo this, it's just a language that resonates with our time and culture.

    • @DanielSanchez-yi9cr

@Trinity M do you ever know someone's true self or only your relational version of them? Wouldn't the same follow for ancestors to? I've an alchemist and a shaman (mixed mayan and Spaniard) in my ancestry and they only reveal information that's absolutely necessary for my growth, in fact only the mayan ancestors ever revealed himself to me I've otherwise only encountered their familiar spirits. Even though these are transcended non corporeal beings, my limited human mind can only access a small portion of the information and history they carry, relative to my own journey/needs.
I think green ghoul was just touching upon the nature of the human mind, not some sort of metaphysical generalization.

    • @thepeopleslibrary8673
      @thepeopleslibrary8673 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Trinity M Ancient European Cultures don’t really see the gods as archetypes.
Some of them can in fact be the “spirit” of certain metaphysical concepts, but a lot of gods are the spirits of ancestors and/or entities and/or the spirits of the land and material phenomena.
The mainstream Western esoteric view is a modern interpretation that comes from the misunderstanding of Carl Jung’s ideas.
Jung was a Monist. He said, yes they are archetypes, but so is everything, and that archetype is nonetheless a spirit which you can relate to and communicate with.

This is probably one of my favorite videos you've done. Thank you so much for touching on this topic with respect. The balance of the feminine and masculine within us all is so important. The Maiden Mother Crone aspect is such a big part of my path even though I don't work with any triple goddesses. That growth within us all-- such a potent thing. Thanks Georgina!

Loved this video! I’m looking forward to the divine masculine one as well as that’s the side I have a hard time relating to as someone who carries a lot of religious trauma from my evangelical days. I’d also love a video on the divine androgyne concept that you mentioned. I feel like that gets glossed over in a lot of discussions, and I know it’s kind of about the balance that you spoke of but I think it’d be a cool video on its own.

I'm so excited you will talk about the divine masculine as well, for I don't often seen discussed on channels in occult, witchcraft, spiritual, etc. circles and I am newish to this area so I am curious on different thoughts regarding not just divine feminine but divine masculine.

I like what you said about how these entities can balance you out. One funny conclusion that I’ve come to is that I don’t think you need to seek out your opposite like Crowley talked about. When I discovered Nyx, there was no other deity that would have appealed to me more. But I’ve found that after working with her nearly exclusively for years, my personality and perspectives have really balanced out and I’ve grown in many areas where I was lacking, including in ways that I never would have associated with her. In my own opinion, I think that if they see an area where you need strengthening, they can push you there, even if it may take a little extra time and difficulty. Loved the rest of this video as well!

Very informative! So glad to hear Kālī’s name come up because she plays a very important role in my practice. My primary path is that of Bhakti (devotional) yoga - become one with everything/God by way of love. One of the forms of God that resonates most deeply with me is that of Kālī and I don’t need to go much farther than her name to explain why. Kāla means time in Sanskrit. Kālī would be the feminized form of time or that which surrounds it. That surrounding is often interpreted as “the consumer of time” but “the mother of time” would be equally true. Simultaneously the creator and destroyer - the head and the tail of the ouroboros. Where we come from and where we’re going. Outside of time yet intimately involved in it. She both makes you sick and heals you. A great representation of nonduality and believable form of God in a world where life is suffering. Psychologically speaking, her images generally pay homage to her ferocity and as a generally loving, nonviolent man, this helps me to connect with what Jung calls the anima or animus - that within me which is my opposite. Jai maa!

I really liked you bringing up the mother deity not always being the epitome of loving and nurturing. An example of that would be Kali or purvati(same Godess, different names) in Hinduism. While purvati is seen as a motherly loving aspect, the Kali side is the goddess of chaos and destruction.
The first thing that came to mind when you brought this up.

I posted a comment correcting on Goddess KALI as not representing chaos and destruction but instead representing the ultimate protection of a mother by destroying demons. Just like a mother bear protecting her Cubs and we dont call the mother bear chaotic n destructive for protecting her Cubs. This is our dear goddess from our faith and we are to speak up about misinformation. 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍✌✌✌🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Thanks Da'at for this clear and thoughtful presentation, I think you are absolutely right to point out the multifaceted nature of the Feminine, ancients' representations of it include goddesses like Isis, Ishtar, Venus and Astarte, often described as deities of 'Love' but neglect the fact that they were all worshipped as avatars of War too. I think it would be better to think of them as Deities of 'Passion', and see them in a much more multi dimensional view. I am not a practitioner but I love your show!

I really loved the nuance in this, thank you.
I am not Dianic but part of a tradition that came out of the Goddess Movement as well as perennial philosophy, that worships the divine feminine exclusively and I really appreciated that you mentioned that that's a perfectly valid thing to do. I understand why the 'balance' approach is so popular and there's nothing wrong with it but for me, personally, everything is feminine and I don't feel the need to honour or believe in a polarity- though I do believe the masculine is contained within the feminine.
A lot of the divine feminine and divine masculine stuff can be taught in a way that is off-putting because it puts the two in to very strict boxes but this is a much more whole and diverse idea of what the Divine Feminine is. Subscribed!

You're talking about feminine archetypes.... Are there masculine archetypes? Where can I learn more about how all these things fit together?
You also mentioned something about wiccans working with feminine and masculine gods... Where can I learn more about that type of thing. I'm not trying to become a wiccan or anything, but I think this is very interesting

I love working with the Maiden/Mother/Crone concept in ritual and prayer on a regular basis and I've been a Wiccan for 11 years, but outsiders to Wicca should know that the concept was invented in the 20th century in Robert Graves's book "The White Goddess". There isn't any evidence in archeology or textual evidence that any ancient culture in any part of the world used similar terminology in their own language to sort goddesses into these three categories, let alone there being any culture that worshiped one single Goddess that had these three specific aspects (even though there are "triple goddesses" in a general sense like Morrigan and Hecate).
Wiccans, of course, see it differently, and worship one Goddess that has the 3 aspects of Maiden, Mother and Crone (along with the God) as well as simultaneously calling upon different historical goddesses and gods and sorting them into the Maiden, Mother and Crone categories (there are Wiccans like me that think there should be a similar 3 aspects to the God, but there isn't a lot of agreement on how that should work).
That's why it's normal for your average Wiccan to say, pray to "The Goddess" in general one day to help them find a parking spot, but call upon a specific historical death goddess to watch over a ritual honoring the ancestors on another day (or the other way around!)

Spiritually speaking, feminine wisdom can also begin with a fundamental understanding of the cyclical nature of reality (God).
Represented by the snake in many creation myths, the living cycle has a trinity of a beginning (head), a middle and end (tail). As above so below, the sexes were created in the image of God's cyclical nature where Mother is the head and opening to all beginnings and Father holds the tail to all endings (through which the sowing of seeds allow for the next great matriarchal rebirth). The joining of the two (symbolized by the Ouroborus or the marriage ring) is the sacred union needed in assuring the creation and continuation of new life cycles. To speak of the present day God as "Our Father" is simply an admission to our collective positioning within the bigger cycle.
As all mothers have direct experience with the creator quality of birthing, so is the direct experience of rebirthing the divinity within (baptism) belong to that which is spiritually matriarchal. (John 3, verse 3-8).
Sekhmet statues (ancient Egyptian) carry most of their weight in symbolic memory of what was a mother culture dedicated to the direct experience of baptism. As the leg shaped hairlocks extend from maternal breasts to the womb of rebirth, the lioness's head proportions are such that they highlight the bust of a second animal figure. The Lioness's ears as eyes and eyes as nose (nostrils) brings to life the figure of a reptile. 'Neath the halo headress of the solar egg, the lioness's egg fertilization process being internal (Set) and the reptile's egg fertilization process being external (Setting), such being key components to the safety of entering the trans-egoic or "born again" state. The life threatening fear associated with the predatory nature of a lion and/or crocodile encounter are reflective of the intense ego death experiences associated with the transpersonal awakening process.
In spiritually matriarchal times, illumination could be seen as wearing the false beard (ancient Egyptian funerary "ego" death mask) as the high state of cyclical self knowing; high awareness of both our upper matriarchal half and our lower (later) patriarchal half (compared with a mini lower body replica, an "as above so below" tail end beard extension); in full recognition of her civilizational Underworld, her inevitable cyclical destiny. The male pharaoh wears his beard tapered in reverse, indicating a pointing upwards towards the patriarchal head, divine representative of God's tail end cycle.
Mary Magdalene's anointing and wiping of Jesus's feet with her hair can then be seen as head to tail (toe) imagery as she descends her matriarchal head to his patriarchal feet, thus reenacting the high understanding of the divine cyclical process. (John 12:3)
To carry the Ankh was perhaps to symbolically carry that upper and lower understanding. As the upper matriarchal womb symbolised the fertile birthing of civilization, below, the now Christian cross is carried to place emphasis on the lower (later) "End Times" Father principle of the great cycle.
Lord Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu diety, displays a cyclical head to trunk symbolism and points to the Mother head of his matriarchal elephant society. Ganesha (like elephants) wears God's cyclical nature on his face.
A whole temple was dedicated to the ancient Egyptian goddess Hathor, who is the matriarchal "Uterus" personified. th-cam.com/video/J0m0zJSEFK0/w-d-xo.html
"See all women as mothers, serve them as your mother. When you see the entire world as the mother, the ego falls away. See everything as Mother and you will know God." - Neem Karoli Baba

Generously, I think you can say that their transmasc/NB perspective puts them at odds with a lot of cis 3rd wave feminists. That said, I don't agree with or am unsure about a lot of their positions e.g. on assault or protection for trans ppl BUT they also really influenced my ideas about my own sexual identity and quietness so..? :/ I still recommend sexual persona to anyone with good critical thinking skills who is interested in a nonbinary take on this sort of thing.

I think when you say Babylon it sounds like you are referring to the Sumerian Annunaki goddess Inanna, who has been called various different names throughout history. Some other names she was called was Ishtar, Aphrodite, and Libertas which as a matter of fact Statue of Liberty IS Libertes aka Inanna. She was one of the most popular gods in the Annunaki pantheon, and she is interesting to read about and is kinda a wild one. She also had an older sister called Ereshkigal, who apparently killed Inanna but I believe she was revived. It's one of her most popular stories about her, and I think it's called The Descent of Inanna. The Annunaki mythologies is SO interesting

wow great video , so i have a different perspective , i never heard anything about a mother goddess or anything about psychics or spirits , and i had a negative experience that lasted ten years, the first relief i had from the 24 hour morning to night torture was when i met a spirit that she was the mother and that she was god and she hugged me and for two years i had no negativity and was seeing spirits for the first time and experiencing psychic phenomona, later on i met a father and a grandma and grandpa, but it reaaly kind of blew my mind to say wow god is a woman, and i liked what you said about not looking at old age like a decline, you had so many good points and you really get me thinking, they are divinley tougher then any human being but also have more love , also little things like stealing , or drinking whiskey , there not strict with some things, forgiveness is like erasing karma with a magic wand, but gods heart is so big they could make jesus look like a hitler, thats a weird combination huh

Absolutely gorgeous and poignant. You properly pinned down the cycles and the patterns of the Universe. Wonderful vid.
In this Universe, there are elements that originate from the masculine and elements that originate from the feminine. All the universe is gendered; everything is paired. Elements of the feminine include but are not limited to abundance, acceptance, kingship, deity, blessing, bitterness wickedness and protennoia or forethought. The masculine includes solitude, envy, suffering, stoicism, order, war, ego and divine willpower. These elements intertwine within people in multiple ways and not in the most obvious way to understand. Working with your opposite is essential in order to activate both elements of divine feminine and masculine within you. Remember, all Gods have a male and female form/name. All Gods are within us. In the end, the divine principle is a feminine form known in Vedic scripture as Kali. Kali is a Goddess of war and of vengeance come to claim her principle power which was taken from her by the Angels of Heaven.

All I know is Hell hath no fury than that of a Woman scorned. Rest assured if divinity were applied by humanity even by an ounce crime trends and wars would cease or at least be far and few in between. But the antithesis begs if used in full measure boy oh boy...or girl oh girl (respecting ur theme) would there even be a world? The mind boggles. Enough on my trivial words...by far your best presentation to date (all of them are good and so informative) but this one had a sense of more. Balance is the only word that comes to mind...since you enjoy the kitchen (as do I) this was a full course meal of the mind. Im just calling it how i heard it. For the no kitchen lovers...The full course meal consists of SO MANY ingredients...and that's not including time..skill..equipment and least not forget the forging or hunting (in modern times Farmers Markets and Butcher Shops)...i could go on with the comparison but you get my point. That's all...oh and nice dress. Your Barrett's are always a bonus. 😉

Interesting. Im quite curious as to whether you will make an equally balanced video for the divine masculine god. Heh. And your take on it.
And then make a third video for the balance and harmony for both. The duality and balance of them. Like instead of the proverbial "angel and demon on different shoulders", try out a masculine and a feminine on different shoulders. Or a god and a goddess on different shoulders. Or something like that. Im curious as to what your take would be on that. Heh. Explaining the need for having both a masculine and feminine. A need for both a god and goddess together at the same time. For full and complete balance and harmony of both sides, and all of their attributes and archetypes in an equal balance and mix together.

Ooh, yes! So many people see gender at the surface level, and it's so much more than "lady parts".

You're not really "told" to wear ten pounds of makeup and to keep a youthful appearance. Humans, especially in a materialistic society such as ours, tend to use all means at their disposal limited only to one's knowledge and strength of discipline in order to make themselves more attractive in the eyes of their peers. It's inherent in our nature and marketers exploit this on behalf of the corporations they work for.

No one's "told" to do that, aside from the times when people are explicitly told by their peers to wear more make-up, dress differently, lose weight, gain weight etc etc.

@@5dfeminine He's not wrong. People's egos are fed in order to increase consumerism/consumption. This is an old tactic/theory which originally came from Freud, and was eventually implemented by his cousin Edward Bernays.
Also, most young men I've spoken to aren't bothered by it if a woman doesn't wear makeup. Then again, I don't live in America, which has a different, and more narcissistic culture than my own.
