hydrantdude maxed out the score counter and made it overflow to display 1627720 points as 27720 on the day of 9/17 and made it to level 41 also someone created a AI to break nes tetris called stackrabbit to reach the true killscreen at level 237 it crashes around the late 230s and early 240s in the level counter and hit line 3112 because level 235 is 3.4782608695 killscreens long

The year is 2034. Hyper-speed-rollers dominate the scene with 50hz taps. Most matches go to level 60, and the world champion is a 6 yo boy on Adderall.
Anything above 25 Hz is actually counterproductive and 30 Hz is literally faster than the hardware can process. And the average level in competition will probably be closer to 45 and will be dominated by those who can most consistently roll at exactly 25 Hz. Other than that, very accurate.

Yo aGameScout, you've really ramped up the quality of your "post-tournament" casting these last few videos. Even though you knew the results to show to us, you kept it very exciting. Loving your energy. One caveat, I was really hoping "the thrillscreen" to become more popular after it got coined by one of the CTWC casters. Keep it up!
yeah, calling it a "killscreen" makes little sense at this point
In my opinion, thrillscreen is a little corny, kill screen sounds cooler and is the general term across all games even if it's not quite accurate for nes tetris level 29. not to mention, it is still killer in 99% of games and for 99% of people.
I have no idea how I ended up in the Tetris rabbit hole, maybe because one Cheeze video was recommended to me a month ago.
And now, several weeks later, I am glued to your videos watching a passionate cast about a game I totally suck at, and rarely have any idea what's going on, yet it is still so fascinating to watch.
Ditto. I got pulled into the hole when youtube recommended me Jonas vs Joseph not too long ago. Next video was one from scout and by this point I've watched over 70% of his videos.

Can we all chip in and get Joseph a sports psychologist? In terms of raw skill, Joseph is probably the GOAT. For a while, he was coming out with a new WR every week. His run of maxouts in the CTWC qualifier may stand for a decade. He still posted the only 1.4 ever witnessed. But just looking at his face in most competitions you can tell he's totally in his head. I think the pressure ruins the fun for him.

Sorry, but this is quite likely not true. What's happening in Tetris is that the game was relatively stale for many years, but now we're seeing a massive influx of new talent into the game. There are multiple (at least 5 or 6) contenders with a serious shot at overtaking Joseph's 1.4, which likely won't be the record for much longer, especially once rolling comes fully online.
Joseph was the first in the new wave (and certainly ushered that wave) of players, but his early success also benefitted a lot from being an hypertapper in a field of DAS players. Except now hypertapping isn't an advantage, so much as it is the standard. The simple truth is that, while Joseph may still be the best player for now, the edge he has over the field is decreasing fast.
@@LuisPereira-bn8jq If by "early success" you mean his CTWC titles, I'd agree. But that wasn't where he accomplished guys greatest feats. Joseph was setting world records long after hypertapping became widely accepted. There's certainly a generation of players that Joseph inspired that have incredible potential, he came into the last CTWC as the number 1 seed with 12 maxouts in 2 hours. That was better than the second seed and ultimate champion Dog by almost double.
I'm sure when rolling comes into it's own 1.4 will stand because it allows people to play well past the kill screen. That doesn't change the fact that the game Joseph played throughout 18 and 19 was as close to a perfect game as is probably possible.
I maintain Joseph's biggest opponent is not a young up and comer, but is between his two ears.

There's a simple problem with this: you are comparing Joseph well into his third year of high level Tetris with someone in his first.
Joseph matured well before the field which he unleashed, which means he has way less room for improvement than the 5 or 6 rising players he's now contending with.

Say it all you want, the odds are not in your favor: the vast majority of your personal impression of Joseph is based on him dominating a field *much* weaker than the current one.

Me too, it's much more enjoyable to watch live because the players' energy is heightened and it's fun seeing everyone have a good time
Well, we don't get it, but as counter-point online tournament allowed foreign players to represent with players from Argentine, Australia and Indonesia. Championship is still held by American and that must be changed.

I never watch CTM live on twitch and prefer watching highlight reports and recording of the live like this because I'm in the same timezone as Nenu, but I usually wake up way later than him ofc 😂 so this kind of videos are really important and helpful to me, thank you for making this amazing content!

Ive never been good at Tetris, im just not the guy (though funnily enough the rolling technique is something Ive used in button mashing for years) but I watch these videos because my Grandma would just LOVE this as Tetris was her favorite game.
Man, I love your energy in these recaps and I have to point out that Vandy is probably the best commentator out there because of that energy too. He's all chill, fun and jokey at the start but when the craziness starts he ramps it up effortlessly. It adds to the experience immensely.
Also, can someone here clarify if the CTMs will ever be on TH-cam and if so on which channel? I want these absolutely spectacular games to be preserved so people can watch them over and over. They deserve to be appreciated. I can't watch live and Twitch in general doesn't seem very viewer friendly to me but I still watch the whole thing the next day.

So weird. I very clearly remember the 'Boom Tetris for Jeff!' videos and watching a few tournaments after that. It was basically just a bunch of old guys who had been playing for decades. And now, 11 (!!!) year olds are crushing it! The scene has changed so much since it became popular again.
It isn't too surprising though. Tetris is a game of speed and young people just have a massive advantage there.

can we ask for tap/ Hz indicator during competitions? the way those players play past level 29 is crazy, it would be cool to see how they pump their mechanical performance to keep playing on skillscreen
15-20 Hz for hypertappers, 18-24 Hz for rollers.

Could fatigue be a reason as to why someone like Alex can break records but lose his set? I would imagine that playing on the killscreen is taxing to your senses and will definitely affect your performance in the next rounds.

I think the adrenaline probably plays a part. I have no idea what one is going through tapping that fast while making such quick decisions but I reckon the adrenaline levels go pretty high and the next game messes you up a bit as it probably takes time to get one's bearings. Hands probably get tired too...

Given the number of transitions that are getting done, I think you might have to start working on an additional pace that takes into account the individual's max potential post transition too. It'd likely have to be based on statistics from different tournaments and individual play. I think there would need to be a full database of games for this tho.
I agree. Kind of funny how the stat was already aging as soon as he started using it. Tetris is going crazy right now.

Not following the competitive scene, can you just complete with an emulator or pc? What if you setup macros for each piece and each place you want it to end up?
You could, and that would be against the rules, which is part of why there will be a hand cam requirement going forward in future months

With rolling, playing a game infinitely is theoretically possible now. I wonder if anyone will ever get 2 million points... 3 million... 4
It will come down to stamina and consistency. A single missed input at a bad time can lead to cascade of mistakes that quickly ends the game on 29 speeds, so scores like that would still be very difficult for top rollers even down the road.

Unfortunately, without some modification to cap out the points earned to level 29's, the game has a high chance of crashing at 1560 (can't remember exact line count) lines in
I mean if you somehow survived all the way to level 256 the game resets to level 0 speed with over 300k points per tetris
