I feel like the last card has to be second Oracle, though. It wasn't in the exile pile. You can't bounce it or they just replay. As Bosh points out, having to pay for Dismember means no rhinos. And Cavern beats FoW, so I think the only out he had was Endurance.
A lot of times, I listen while I'm doing other work. I was not ready for the emotional outburst that followed. One might even say violent outburst lol.
1:07:10 As a note, I'm pretty sure Violent Outburst's art is part of a deliberate thematic cycle for the common cascade spells in Alara Reborn. Just as it shows Esper homunculi, the BR Demonic Dread depicts a Bant knight, the UB Deny Reality depicts a Naya beast, the WU Stormcaller's Boon depicts a Jund dragon, and the GW Captured Sunlight features someone from Grixis. Obviously this is kind of just how Alara Reborn *was,* but I suspect that there was some extra intention in this cycle.
I secretly love Fire/Ice. I think it's a seriously underrated card in legacy. 2 mana isn't nothing, but when you have it in hand, you always have options. Pitches to Force, cycles, can slow down mana, be a 1-turn Maze of Ith, kill Bowmasters + token, and it can even be a really shit Shock.
59:12 I was rooting for a mainphase Petty Theft here because I was scared of a rebuke getting you again which it did unfortunately. Cool deck and great video as always!
1:07:10 Was about to head down to the comments to explain what's going on in Violent Outburst (you are correct btw) when you suddenly figured it out on camera. That was a funny little epiphany moment to watch XD
1:08:47 I think it’s reasonable to fury pitching fire/ice here before the saga search to kill both constructs. They can’t rebuke yet and you have FoW backup and it leaves you with an uncontested two turn clock (until spellbomb, I know). Super vulnerable to painter that way but it’s a line.
Oh, but @26:28 what would've happened if you Petty Theft'd Thassa's Oracle *again*, instead of casting Endurance? They have 2 cards in their library, and 2>0.
i know this is a little off topic, but i dont know where else i can really ask you this but boshnroll, where could i find some up to date hot bant lists for legacy?
I've always wondered if this deck could play Up the Beanstalk in a control version. Yeah, I get that it means you can wiff on Rhinos but Beanstalk is a great hit anyway and this deck is literally about playing expensive interaction for free. Swapping Dismember and Brazen B for Leyline Binding or Solitude, for example, doesn't necessarily make this deck worse, right?
@adam_1082 I feel like the Rhino isnt a dead draw nor the Bean a wiff. The Beanstalk control decks have been doing quite well but they are absolutely dependent on getting down a Bean. 8 more ways to find one in a Yorion pile is great. Honestly, I'm envisioning an early Rhino to be the wiff, with a late Rhino being the finisher akin to Murktides or Hooties but without the graveyard requirement /edit/ I AM thinking of a control shell, though, where the Spirit Guides would likely be cut for more interaction
I think you're kind of fundamentally misunderstanding how rhinos functions in legacy. It's a pretty awful control shell because all your counterspells 2 for 1 you, and all your removal is overcosted and pretty bad. The reason the deck works is because you get to hyper focus your entire deck on surviving until and then resolving a single 3 cost spell that you play 8 of. Watering the cascade package down with anything else removes the big advantage in consistency the deck has
@@derekcline9504-color beanstalk isn't built around 2-for-1ing yourself. Cards like Forces are necessary in blue decks primarily because they help prevent you from losing T1, and Solitude is a decent card that becomes cracked when it is 0-mana Swords with Beanstalk in play. If you add Beanstalk to Rhinos, your cascades will randomly give you a do-nothing enchantment instead of putting 8-10 power in play and winning the game in short order.
@@derekcline950 If you put 3-cost Cascade spells into your Control deck, with the aim of cascading Rhinos or Beanstalk, you're not going to be able to run Brainstorm, Ponder, Plow or Eolingas, all of which are vital parts of 4C Control. You'll also put a massive limit on what cards you're able to sideboard, if you're keeping Rhinos and/or the Cascade cards in your deck. If you think the answer is boarding them out every time you need a card from your sideboard that costs 2 or less, maybe start thinking about wincons that are actually good enough to stay in the deck post-board.
I am so distraught my man… that was such a RIP moment. *brazen borrower and dismember* “are we nothing to you”
sameeee
ME TOO

oh man that was painful to watch 😭😭😭😭

I love how no one even questions the expression "can o' rhinos" any more. It's just become a BoshNRoll axiom
That’s where rhinos are born

I love the painter juke out of 8-Cast! The combo juke out of a full agro deck just feels so nice

Agreed, 2 or less mana cards that pitch to force will never be useless in legacy, and fire/ice does much more than just that.
2 mana instant speed Forked Bolt is so good, the fact that it can also be a catrip that’s a fog or Rishadan Port…and it pitches to Force/Fury?
its not a secret no more....but yes great and undervalued card
obsessed with the lonely little Shardless Agent hitting your opponent for like 12 in R3G1
The purest example of card advantage. Takes me back to the old Snapcaster days.

"DRC has to fight, first day."
fantastic joke, im taking that.
Wow Bosh, this deck slays 🤘🏻 great games!
I was also always confused by the Violent Outburst art

Been looking forward to the next rhinos video since the last eternal glory episode!

Best thing to start off a week is some awesome Bosh content!
The thumbnail's background looks like a poster of some alternate universe King Kong movie where he's in a star-crossed relationship with someone.
Rhinos might be my favorite deck in modern and legacy
I know you said you can never be on Punt Pals but if you ever change your mind we can talk about what happened at the 23 minute mark there ❤
Haven't seen it yet, but willing to bed this video is a sick one :)
23:19 Couldn't you dismember the thoracle in response to the trigger? Devotion goes to 0 and opp still had a card in the deck
Watch another 10 seconds and report back haha
@@BoshNRoll Oh OH NO. I legit thought there was some rule I was no seeing
@23:00 wtf lol. I truly thought I was missing something, but I was not

Fury doesn't have flash, so he can't wait to pitch it on their turn after they make a construct and before the saga trigger resolves.
Ohhh its a Can'O'Rhinos kind of day!
First! Also hooray for cans of Rhinos
It's also a green fart. 10:13
At @23:15 what would've happened if you Petty Theft'd Thassa's Oracle.... Oh lmao sorry I unpaused the video XD c'est la vie!
Obligatory algorithmic contribution
Does anyone know why these decks only play 3 rhinos instead of 4 with 8 cascade spells ? I’m curious
Normally one is enough in Legacy as people have much less removal as they do in Modern.
@@drakarrx I see , the excess cascade spells won’t be dead cards bc the opponent /should/ be a dead mage lol

Since tempo is up again, is hot bant better now?

I’d use the online deck resources like MTGGoldfish or MTGTop8.
23:56 they still win tho because they still have 1 more card in your library and have cavern to put in thoracle
Was this title your doing?
Everything is my doing
Whats the point of Thassa's Oracle? Even if it is killed or placed in hands, does the trigger still resolve it or not?
The trigger still resolves, but it won't count the UU cost of Oracle in your devotion.

@nickthejack that's the exact same as Beanstalk Control though. All those 2 for 1 as well until you get Beans down...
