Hi. You may have seen this message shown on the gauge behind the steering wheel. For those who haven’t seen this before, don’t be panic. It’s not a big deal. Even though the VSA Vehicle Stability Assist lamps are on as well and we can’t turn them off. Moreover, the clock is flashing and reset to one o’clock.
This symptom happen after there’s no electricity supplied to the car such as the battery is completely exhausted for long time or we didn’t supply the power while exchanging the battery. After the car get the power back and we start the engine the message “Drive Carefully. Systems Initializing...” shown.
How to resolve this issue? Easy, just drive for 200 to 300 meters and the message is gone but be careful. While the message is still there, the brake hold system is inactive. Even though we can switch it on and the brake hold system lamp is on but it still doesn’t work. The brake hold system will become active after the “Drive Carefully. Systems Initializing...” message has gone. For the clock, if you use Apple CarPlay, after you connect the phone the clock will be set to the present time automatically. I guess Android Auto will have the same result as well.
Lastly, I wish everyone drives safely. See you next time. Bye.
Spent hours trying to fix this after changing all leds and disconnecting the battery. Drove for a block and all warnings went away. Thanks for this vid.
You just saved me after I reset the battery in a target parking lot . Had no idea what to do but this was great!!
Glad that this vid is helpful. Thanks for letting me know.
Thank you so much for this video!!
I disconnected my battery to replace it. Both lights were on. Worked on it for awhile. Brother found your video! It worked exactly how you said! I didn’t even drive to far. Thanks!!
Thanks for your comment. I’m glad that it’s helpful!
Thank you so much from New Delhi , India.. I was facing the same issue and we were quite anxious how to resolve .. but this video was a life saver.. thanks again - Richard

Nothing is easy any more. Except this. Thank you.
Thanks for this video!!!!! I just had my battery replaced and the technician didn’t even know what to do, made me panic more. Didn’t even drive down the block and the messages went away, appreciate you:)
Thanks for your kind comment!
Yeah, nice video. I had read this in the owners manual. Says to drive at 20mph carefully until its complete. Had this happen after battery replacement.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank goodness, I panicked for a while because i thought there's something wrong with the battery even though my car hasn't shown a signal of battery problems on the dashboard. This is helpful thank you!
Glad to hear that.
many thanks, i helped me a lot.
my engine keep turn on and i can't stop it. watching your vid then drive a 2km then everything gone.
Glad that this helps!
Thanks man! I just got a new battery and this was still on the dash and I was freaking out
This was the only method that worked for me. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much it’s really helpful. I appreciate your advice and time
I’m glad that this is useful.
Thank youuuuu❤❤❤
Worked exactly as you stated. Thank you for posting.
I’m glad this is useful for you.
Very simple and short. You sir get a like. (Thumbs up)
Thanks for your feedback!
On my 2017 honda civic I keep getting several warning light that all appear at the same time and a little while later they all go away. The warnings are: brake hold problem, VSA problem, hill start assist problem, brake system problem and power steering problem along with the drive carefully message. Any idea what would be the cause? The car doesn't drive any different when the lights are on! Thank you!
When is that happen? When you start the engine the first time of the day? If the answer is yes, then I believe that it’s the battery problem. Otherwise, I think the problem could be more complicated. I guess the reason those lights are shown is because there’s no electricity supplied to the clock and relevant electronic circuits which could caused by the battery, the fuses or the electric wires. I think this is beyond DIY and you need to get the technician to help. Hope this might be useful.
@@BlackPantherCivic it does happen first when the car is started in the morning, but not only at first start, it has happened later in the day but I don't drive far so maybe the battery doesn't get chance to charge? I'm not sure. I'll probably have to take it to the dealership
Yes. It looks like the battery issue. Good luck. I hope that it just the battery.
@@BlackPantherCivic I went to the dealership and several sensors in the brakes and wheels stopped working. All covered under warranty so it's not bad at all! Battery is fine apparently
@Nick. Thanks for sharing. This is useful for everyone. So when the message “Drive Carefully system is Initializing” appeared it’s not just from the battery but also happen because of the fault from sensors.
Came up when I replaced my battery and all warnings were going off “ low tire pressure “ “acc malfunction “ brake malfunction
I had this same issue but it also says the power steering is not working and to see the dealer. Will the power steering start working on its own?
I’m sorry. I’m not a mechanic but I believe it’s a separate problem.
@@BlackPantherCivic thanks for the reply 👍
My friend THANK YOU very very much. I was getting very very very nervous. My battery was low so I removed battery and had to clean terminals but battery was dead. Got new battery. This video is AWESOME. I would have had towed and gotten robbed by dealer. I owe you a beer.
Ha ha. You know Vince, I was nervous as well. It wasn’t happened the first time I had the battery replaced but the second time. So I had no idea what happened. I’m glad this clip is useful! By the way, you have to fly to Thailand buying me a beer lol.
Hey this just happened to me this morning….had no idea what was going on,had no power at all, called a taxi and asked the guy for a boost…after that car turned on,but with all these warnings all over…thanks for the video .
I’m glad that it’s useful.
I just recently changed the battery in my 2019 Civic and I noticed something very odd. The mileage range went from about 425 miles (full tank of gas) down to 360 miles, and I have no idea why. Any suggestions as to why this would happen would be very helpful.
Since it electronically guesses how many miles you have and you put a new battery in then it will try and correct itself bc overtime it goes off of your average mpg and all that it can become incorrect overtime I filled my gfs up and it said 430 range and then all of a sudden the next few tanks it barely gets up to 300 range so it may have fixed itself from previous
@@dankheatz3958 It took a couple weeks of driving it again, but now it's back up to normal. Now it's telling me I can get about 470 miles per full tank of gas, so I'm really happy!
Okay so does that mean that you can still drive the car without any problems? Someone please help me? I’m afraid of driving my car because of all them messages on the dashboard
Yes you can drive but if the warning lamps are still on after driving for half a mile, you’d better have the car checked.
Hello yes I'm having the same problem in the dashboard every light pops out but I cannot drive my car how do I fix this problem do I buy a new battery or how do I reset the computer
Hi. I really can’t suggest as I’m not a technician. If this happen to me, I would check the battery age. If it’s more than 1.5 year, I would suspect that it’s the battery and I’ll try a jump start then drive a few blocks. If all the lamps gone, I would replace the battery. Otherwise, I’ll contact the dealership to get the car fixed as it might causes by some sensors failure. One of the viewers of this clip, Nick, kindly share that in his case, the sensor was faulty. You may scroll through the comment for more detail.
So I took my car to the dealer and they did tell me something about the battery but then they call me and they told me that it was transmission problems
@Victor Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much ❤❤❤
Thank you it worked
I had this message in civic 2018. It was displayed and disappeared then it came back. I have a car for 2 years I checked the battery was half full because I do not know what the old one was replaced with a new one despite the fact that the car started up without a problem. The messages showed up again but it is normal after replacing the battery. I drove 100 metres car calibrated systems. The problem solved modern cars are very sensitive to the battery level.
Thanks for sharing
Sir fantastic video 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻i drove for 3-4 kms but yet the message remains
There may be some sensors defect.
@@BlackPantherCivic luckily it was not. I read through all the comments posted here and was scared but yesterday morning there were no warnings. Took it to the service centre and using the OBD scanner they cleared a couple of events in the ECM/ECU. If at all the issue resurfaces (🤞 it doesn't) only then there is an issue with sensors
Thank you sir for your information 👍
Thanks for the video
My pleasure.
Thank this helped!
Glad that it’s helpful!

Just drive for 300 meters then the message will disappeared. Be careful, before the message disappeared, the brake hold system is disabled.

Glad to know that!
thank you for this info m.very useful
Thank you 👌👌
Thank you :)
Thank you, I't worked for me 😇, after drive it 50 feet ..... no more warning lights
Thank you, very helpful! :)
did u just changed the battery to fix it??
This happen after I have the battery changed. To fix it, just drive for 200-300 meters.
@@BlackPantherCivic okay thanks
Thank you great vid 👍
Thaaaaank youuuuu ♥️♥️
Thank you!
After replace battery Honda civic 2016 car start then shut off right way what’s problem can anyone help me
Have you checked all the basics such as enough fuel?, battery is new and fully charged?, etc. If all are good, then I guess there may be the electricity short circuit somewhere. It might be a good idea to have the car checked by a mechanic.
@@BlackPantherCivic thank you for reply I checked all fuse is good battery is fully charged . I have no idea what’s going wrong . I think it’s anti thefts system. May be car not deducted key my guess
@dharmasohal8202 If the key is not detected, I think the engine won’t start at all.
thanks for helping
My pleasure. I’m glad that it’s useful.
Is anyone had a problem going from parking to reverse do to the light on?? Like transmission don't wanna switch gears??
The switch related to transmission might have problem. There’s another viewer experience that the light is on while driving. After restart the engine the light is gone but on again after driving for a while. It might be best to have the car check at the dealer or a garage.
It didnt disappear. I changed battery and then the alternator. No use
Some of the viewers found that this is not the case but some sensors are actually failed. You may need a mechanic to look at the problem.
Great video my friend mucho thank yous ☺️
I’m glad you like it.
Went for a drive my warnings stayed
Edit... they did after lol
works well
Mine wont go away. I disconnected the battery and changed my spark plugs. And all these system problems showed. Gggrrr..
Edit: it was my MAF that wasnt connected. Lol! Sorry guys.
You might need to take it to a garage. One of the viewer, Nick, experience a more complicated problem and found that a few sensors are failed.
@@BlackPantherCivic thank you. You know what? I remembered something. I forgot to connect the maf again when i was fixing the intake. 😅😅 my qife called me to hurry up. The guys at Valvoline snapped the 2nd screw as I did.
Ha ha. It’s good, at least there’s nothing broken.
