  • A collection of my favorite scenes in which Agent Scully saw something, but she doesn't want to say what she saw. Compiled from The X Files.

awww...I loved the X-Files for sooo many reasons, not the least of which was the early array of ridiculous circumstances they contrived to make sure that Scully COULDN'T see anything. And then, as the show progressed, discovering that the better, more human and dramatic option, was to let Scully see everything and have her personally struggle with not wanting to admit what she had seen. And Gillian Anderson leaned into that new aspect of Scully 100% and I love her for it.

Yes, great comment, and it’s nice to hear from people who love these characters like I do. :) And Gillian Anderson is a gift.

Could never understand Scully's reluctance to believe in the alien stuff, when you consider all the insane, bat-shit crazy encounters with things born right here, on planet Earth !

Reminds me of the line in Hollywood AD when the movie producer tells them, “You’re crazy for believing what you believe, and YOU’RE crazy for NOT believing what he believes.” Because you’re right, everything in the world is actually so weird….. Nothing really seems far fetched given that our very existence is far fetched.

I know the show aired before the wide spread of ubiquitous cameraphones, but I watched it in the late noughties. I remember thinking if only at least one of the protagonists thought about taking camcorder with them on their missions, proving the weird to each other and their bosses would have been so much more easier. It would have added more believability to the show, while giving scriptwriters headaches trying to explain why our heroes didn't videotape their weekly encounter with the unexplained.

Ha, great point! Isn’t it amazing how much smartphones would have spoiled the plots of so many old shows? Sometimes I’m watching an old sitcom, and they’re wondering where somebody is, and they just have… no way of finding out! What a wild time it was.
