I think your comments are pretty spot on with the senior bodies beginning the year in the middle. I do think hotton could transition into the zippy mid to compensate for the other big bodies. I feel he will get a go towards the back end of the year which I am excited to see! I think our next batch of draftees will feature a smaller, quicker accumulator type to compliment our midfield. If that happens I think we have the bones for a great midfield!
Agree with you guys, we've been too one-paced in the middle for the last 2 years. I know he's not overly quick, but McAuliffe is the one I'm most excited about playing more midfield minutes. So, I'd go Taranto/Hopper, McAuliffe/Smillie and Prestia/Mansell/Campbell/Junior 🐯
Michael’s, I agree with you…the hawks blew us off the park with Prestia, hopper and Taranto ..one question is no one is talking about J Clark…the guy has an excellent left foot and quick…where do you see him playing? Maurice jnr just needs some poise …
I'm a big Juddy Clarke fan. He is 1 player I reckon has the quickest hand to foot reaction time when kicking quickly for goal. I'd love to see him in the Kane Lambert Half Forward role.
100% agree. he goes very very well when playing mid at vfl level and while VFL vs AFL is different, we need to see what he has at the highest level in his best position. In the guts. 6 -7 week block no matter what.
By seasons end may be too soon given he's coming back fron a long term injury, so prob more 1 for next yr but Hotton is another i'd like to see go through there. His potential is at "Doozy" levels
For mine Taranto is a must as for Prestia Hopper Ross Dow there all outside Mids Smille ,Lalor will help and I don’t know enough about Mcauliffe to say I do like Rioli being a fair tackling machine could slip in Our mids r just to slow as you were saying
And this is where I think even someone like Mansell could play a brief role in there too at times. Pace, aggression, tackling, pressure. Just adds a point of difference.
Smilie Lalor Taranto Hopper is fine on paper but older and slower and younger and inexperienced isn't quite right. Prestia off the bench and Ross isn't too bad given thier injury history but we need thier leadership. Smilie and Lalor might start half forward or half back to build thier skills
@@BigFootyTigerscast yeah I'd be fine with waiting till 2026 to play him in the AFL . We will probably have a more set team by the end of 2025 so will be harder to crack the team plus coming off an ACL better to keep him in the VFL. Unless we get injury ridden again, he may get a chance
Hopper is not good enough. Ross McAuliffe and Smillie should be played before him (and Lalor later in the year). If Hopper is best 22 we are in trouble
Tarranto can’t kick, Hopper is slow and can’t kick, Prestia is classy but slow and old, Lalor won’t play mid till late, Short and Mansell can’t play mid, we should have picked Jagga, Smilie will play mid all year, would play, we have a poor midfield and poor outside running wingers IMO
I disagree Smith will have a bigger impact Day 1, but out recruitment team isnt recruiting for 2025 we are building a team 3-5 years from now. Lalor will be playing early in the season, maybe not Round 1 but within the first 7-8 rounds i reckon Taranto and Hopper just need to catch their form they used to have. Hopefully a good and healthy pre season can get them back in form
Pretty dumb to recruit for immediate impact when either way we will be a bottom 4 side. Thanks for not being a recruiter 🙏🙏 We should have 2 top 5 picks next year to get some more midfield speed, while already having a good bet on big bodied high ceilings mids. They’ve done well.
Lalor with play Hf when fit, Tarranto can get it but can’t use it, Hopper can’t run and can’t kick, where is our explosive outside pace, Smilie is a lock, we need speed and foot skills on the outside Hotton will give this but not for a while, Rioli is worth a shot in middle, Mcauliffe a must

Agree with Hotton. Once he is right to go i think he will slot into there really well!
Love the idea of #17 rolling through the midfield.
Yep get a bit of pace into there!
@@BigFootyTigerscast pace and aggression at the opposition. Plus I remember watching Dad doing the same and love the nostalgia.
I agree little MJ needs to have a bit of a go in the mids here an there
I can’t believe we re contracted Thomson Dow. There’s no place in AFL for 15 possession midfielders

How big has McAuliffe got this off season?! Crazy stuff.
I am looking forward to seeing him in the guts too.
McAuliffe, Taranto. smille, Ross going through, hate to say it but hopper and Dion sub ps maybe Campbell going through occasionally aswell

Need to give Sonsie a run of games in the guts - don't think he makes it as a half forward or back. Midfield is his natural position

yep he has midfield class written all over him doesn't he!!
Lalor Smillie McAuliffe and hotton future midfield.
That reads a very exciting midfield doesn't it!
@ 2 first round picks next year I’m pretty confident we’ll go mids/wingers
I'd like to throw Mykelti into the mix. For me he could be a bustling old fashioned ruck rover and do a job like some of the past 'big mids'

If MJ gets a go in the midfield, he really needs at least 10 games in a row, to get himself settled and confident

@@BigFootyTigerscast Hotton will be like Bolton to add that flair but wouldnt count on it for 2025
@@bobcat718 Agree, maybe in the last 7-8 games we might see something, but I think the real coming of age for him will be 2026.

Use hopper as a defensive half forward/ midfielder
yeah possibly, I haven't seen him do half forward work so wasn't sure if that was in his skill set, but wouldn't be against seeing it!
@ where has he been training so far…. Midfield?
Jayden Short on a wing would work in my opinion
