I think my favorite 5 would have to be Sue's! Good picks all around, though. Here's my favs of the year: 1. Lizzy McAlpine- "Older" 2. The Lemon Twigs- "A Dream is All We Know" 3. Francis of Delirium- "Lighthouse" 4. Father John Misty- "Mahashmashana" 5. Josh Garrels- "Seek Hi Seek Lo" 6. Aquilus- "Bellum II" 7. Caligula's Horse- "Charcoal Grace" 8. Kacey Musgraves- "Deeper Well" 9. Vampire Weekend- "Only God Was Above Us" 10. Zach Bryan- "The Great American Bar Scene" 11. Fontaines D.C.- "Romance" 12. Arooj Aftab- "Night Reign" 13. Imminence- "The Black" 14. The Cure- "Songs Of A Lost World" 15. Benjamin Francis Leftwich- "Some Things Break" 16. The Black Crowes- "Happiness Bastards" 17. Dangermuffin- "Dangermuffin" 18. Alcest- "Le Chants de l'Aurore" 19. Ubiquity- "The Ascendant Travels Among the Stars" 20. David Gilmour- "Luck and Strange" 21. Opeth- "The Last Will And Testament" 22. MGMT- "Loss of Life" 23. Jon Batiste- "Beethoven Blues" 24. Leon Bridges- "Leon" 25. Sykofant- "Sykofant"
I got to go listen to Dangermuffin, missed that one for sure. Love that Sykofant, Opeth, The Black Crowes, Caligula's Horse, and Father John Misty are up there! The Cure was just such a great awesome surprise, too! The Lemon Twigs are going to take some time for me, but I did like that album. My wife will be thrilled she got the thumbs up from you Jeremy! Francis of Delirium, is that the one that was like a really heavy Mazzy Star?
@beyondyourradio right on! I don't really see Francis of Delirium as a heavy Mazzy Starr. They're hard to define, but I would say they sound like an early 90s indie/grunge band. Sounds both nostalgic and modern. Jana (Francis) is an incredible songwriter and melody writer with a long career ahead of her
