A minute of silence for all of us who suffered on Master King Koco's Trial on hard mode before this update came up. I'm glad they fixed it and I'm sure gonna be playing it again. They really wanted to give us a great game
Now all of us who beat the Trail Towers and the 5 Trails on hard before the update have bragging rights. And honestly, I wish that they left hard mode as it was entirely, and made the difficulty changes exclusive to normal and easy mode. It actually felt like an even greater accomplishment to beat The Final Horizon when it was as unforgiving as it was.
I suffered an hour and a half non stop trying. I was ready to call it quits but i finally beat it then i realized after that easy mode makes the perfect parry last a lil bit more
Let me just take a minute to realize sega could’ve done none of this and easily left it like it was, but the fact they actually managed to fix it gives me hope for the next 3D game. Now if only they could do these fixes and updates Before the game releases ,but I’m not complaining One of my favorite Sonic games tied with generations
I hope it's the same director because he understands what people want. He had to beg sega for the little extra development time and in my eyes it totally paid off. Hopefully we get frontiers 2 with the same director
I am glad they realized that the game was too hard and made it slightly better. The Master Koko Trial is much more doable now. I am also so happy the Knuckles glide is so much better.
Yeah in my experience before the patch the only part, that is way to hard I prefer calling it not play tested, or unfair, is trial 5 and that’s about it. I’m not counting the final boss healing tube being poorly explained, because they straight up tell you what to do how to counter the healing tube, if you do the objectives for cyberspace levels, or beat the cyberspace levels. But this patch basically Tails was already way to OP, and the only challenge tails had was combat, because compared to the other character parry tails had the shortest parry time, and basically the only fun part I had with tails, is now gone making him way to OP. He’s basically just spectator mode, or god mode now. Knuckles improved glide I think is the second best part of this patch, and they basically nerfed the knuckles flying glitch, making it less useful which i found is a cool idea, you basically can’t fly infinity with knuckles anymore, only at a certain height, where the 2 punches knuckles do, gravity starts to effect it pushing knuckles down. Trial 5 easily best part of the patch, if I want more rings in hard mode I can just join trial 5 on easy mode then change it back to hard mode. Only minor issue is I think they did nothing for extreme difficulty, but nobody in there first play through, would ever see extreme difficulty, so I can let that slide. Knight removing the shield secret, basically made that Titan, boss fight way to easy now, the only reason why they did it, is due to trial 5, and maybe to give some hint, for the final boss in update 3. So yeah rip anybody attacking knight shield, and fighting and enjoying the music longer, in there first play through. Rip knight only defence. And the balloons for update 3 towers, I basically don’t care about it at all, I know they need to make the game easy, but skipping the entire platforming sections removes all of the fun. So I think the patch only improved around 2 things from what I seen. which is Knuckles glide, and knuckles fly glitch nerf. And trial 5 don’t force people anymore, to pause buffer or do no parry runs, to beat the titans in hard or normal difficulty anymore. Nearly Everything else just made things less fun. There is still fun to be gained but not as much as before. Unless I just prefer frontiers to be fair with its challenge.
3:18. Tbh, if they actually removed his flight delay, I think Tails would be considerably worse to play. Unlike the Knuckles delay, it kinda helps with some pretty difficult platforming, and if he just shot up like a rocket, it would A. get rid of a really neat reference to Sonic Advance 3, B. make the animation look extremely awkward, and C. make a bit of the platforming awkward. It's also the most optimal time to charge your wrench attack to basically do infinite flight. So if there is an update 3.2 (cause this just feels like an update 3.1, not 4), I do hope they don't take that out. If anything, I might just like to see Tails get a few more moves. I don’t need him to do the homing attack when he has two ways to infinitely fly, but just a couple more combat focused moves would be neat, since the only ones he has are the wrench attacks, drill stomp, and Cyclone cannon. Just a couple more attacks to diversify his combat would be neat. But that would really be the only thing I'd change about Tails, since he can now one-shot Master Ninja+ with one wrench at DMG level 68 according to Fadel. He'll still be my favorite character, but if that flight delay gets removed, it'll be a significant downgrade imo.
I agree @petesoys6348. I need for him to have his Tail Attack (Tail Swipe). Especially since they showed it in the prologue comic for the game. My suggestion to add it would be to let him do it when he has no cursor like Amy’s Card Attack or Knuckles’s Combo Attack, and when he has a cursor the Wrench Attack would execute. Tail has always been my favorite Sonic character.
You mean, it's more obvious what you need to do? The ability to circle around knight's shield has always been there. It's just that nobody ever thinks to do it
Hey that's pretty good! They should also change how collecting the small animals in cyberspace work though. Some kind of radar to help me find em or the game remembering which ones i've found so I don't have to get them all in one go would be nice. Edit: and knuckles detaching from walls when he touches a non climbable surface
I’m happy to see a lot of the initial gripes I had with the Final Horizon update get patched in this new update. I’ll have to do another new playthrough of it to try out the improvements. It’s good to see SEGA and Sonic Team willingly go back to Frontiers and fix some major issues.
Sonic fans just don't stop eatin' in 2023 right? At first we thought we'll only get 3 Frontiers updates, but then they shadow-dropped a cute visual novel for free as an april fool's joke. Additionally, in May, they announced Superstars, which is Naoto Ohshima's return to the franchise after 25 years. After Superstars released, out-of-nowhere, Sega decides it's not enough and announces YET ANOTHER Sonic game (Dream Team) to be released in less than 2 months, WHICH LANDS ON 2023 STILL!!!!! And now, after Dream Team is out, SEGA STILL HASN'T STOPPED AND RELEASED A 4TH FRONTIERS UPDATE!? In 2023, every time you think Sonic will not get content anymore, Sega catches us off guard. Holy bloody smokes. Sega can be a hard company to work with, but you gotta give'em credit when they deserve it.
This new update kept me by suprise honestly, and i think the best part is the knuckles glide, i'd put it in my top 4 of characters like this: 1. Sonic 2. Knuckles 3. Amy Rose 4. Tails. I hope that sega still drops some more updates to the game to fix issues like the collisions in some parts of the worlds or even sonic controls, you know, misc things
I do remember The Final Horizon when it first came out. This little update is actually awesome, and it's cool that they finally fix Knuckles' mid previous glide. The OG was super mid and hard to control, so I'm glad they remade it. It's actually weird that Amy and Tails didn't get that many changes for their character. But yeah it's really nice that they fixed Knuckles'glide because that's been a complaint that we had every since the Final Horizon released. You know they should do? They should update the Boss Fights in Superstars and make them less rigged. But then again, this is a great update! Thanks for the information, Chris!!
Alot of gamers today are kinda weak. Someone said that the third update was too hard to be enjoyable. I'm like... What? Older games had that type of difficulty or worse. Most of these new gamers obviously need more skill.

I think they could add extra stuff, like the juke box in the update, the ability to go back to the other islande in another story, and if they feel good, super sonic in open zone
The update was always good as far as I see it. Sega's been spoon feeding Sonic fans long enough. It's time for fans to pick up the spoon and start eating by themselves. But hey, if Sega decided to have mercy on everyone who couldn't handle it, I guess that's good to. But the timer restart is definitely a good update
"Master King Koco's Trial: Your maximum Ring capacity and the health of each Titan have been adjusted." Thank God. That trial literally made me quit the game because of how bonkers hard it was. Even on Easy Mode.... Now I can just make that easy mode, and set it back to Hard for The End. Hopefully the boss rush is beatable now without playing perfectly....
Just got the CD soundtrack for this games 3rd update The Final Horizon the mail today at 2:34p.m. and it's the Sonic Frontiers Expansion Soundtrack: Paths Revisited CD and I'm listening to it while watching this! 6:17p.m. 12/19/2023
I hope they one day fix the camera on the final boss. The trails need some tweaks too. The first two towers are easier then the rest. Like why do you have 10 min to fight one ninja?
This could have been a 9 or even 10 if Kishimoto adds simple swap characters without getting to the 5th tower each time, play Tails/Amy/Knuxs without the cyber ghost forms of there's along with adding more costumes, still want Knuxs to climb everywhere (Speaking of climbing, how smooth does Knuxs climb cuz back in U3, imo he climbing was kinda sluggish at least in close sections tho), change music once u play other characters, and be able to play other characters in other islands. Also while even tho the titans are now less annoying thxs to the forgiving parry, still think its better if the trial just lets the player start as Super Sonic without doing the tedious walk up to titans once u die either by not paying attention or game screws u over. If they fix all of these issues then this update would be 9 or 10/10 tbh
All I want are titan themes in jukebox, super sonic in open zone (probably the hardest thing to do), other characters in the other islands, non-cyber forms, and new cyberspace in arcade/challenge
I agree to all of this except the tedious walk up to the titans I would love to start as super sonic but on the other hand I don't want it to be that easy getting chaos emeralds were always a challenge
@@Ghosted143 That part is still unnecessary and tedious cuz there isn't any challenge to it. All u have to do is watch out for obstacles that can easily be avoided. The real challenge is facing the titans which if the player still have trouble timing the parries right or game somehow screws them over time n time again, then they shouldn't have to keep on climbing onto titans everytime. Just get to the Super Sonic fight. For me tho, I already beat the titans and want to fight them again, but since there's no option to fight them individually (Which Kishimoto also needs to add), I'm stuck with boss rush or King Koco trial. I'm tired of either slugging through enemies during boss rush just to reach one titan while King Koco, I don't want to climb up to titans and just want to get to the main course already. This problem should be erased, at least in easy n normal mode. Hard mode maybe. Extreme mode, fine keep the climbing up to titans and make the climbing more fun n harder instead of feeling like another easy n boring chore to deal with again
@@chillihog1543 imma be real I'm just speaking from my experience the king coco trial had me fight the titans so much that I can already perfectly parry everything just fine so boss rush just to get to one isn't a big deal for me and climbing the titans are tedious but in my opinion I don't mind it because it makes the fight feel like a bit of a struggle to prove you can ascend to a higher form and then the true battle begins and from a story standpoint of all the last emeralds being on their heads anyway I just don't have a problem with any of this I'm not saying it's a skill issue it's just after doing it over and over you start to not care anymore and just enjoy it
@@Ghosted143 Great that u enjoy it n got the parry timing right, but it doesn't mean everyone else does. Not even saying climbing up the titans are hard, it's just boring n feels unnecessary to do. Even with the parries being easy, what if I want to fight them again? Then I have to keep climbing up to them for the 11th time and it's just soo boring. I just want to get straight to the point since I already beaten the titans for like 4 times. Since there's no option to fight them individually (Fix this Kishimoto), I only got two options. Slug through boss rush or do tedious climbing, which both are boring to deal with. Just wish there was a faster n less tedious way to just get to the point already.
I personally don't know if the cycloop ring refresh thing is added into the Master King trials, but it's something that really needs when starting a new boss because I only made it half way of Wyvern and I couldn't make it pass that. And even if I did make it through to Knight, I can't help but feel I'll still lose with the amount of rings left. Also I'm really hoping that the other Titan trials have been reasonably adjusted to be you know much more fair, Dragon and Snake's trails are especially annoying as hell with a small time limit.
@@kiarazoccogoldenbonniegirl1641 I was when I first played Final Horizon until I was forced to change it to Easy just to make things less annoying during the Snake Trial.
The entire time I was playing the main story, as much as I loved and was blown away by everything, I was always looking forward to seeing Another Story and playing as the other characters again. Then their garbage maneuverability and the ridiculous amount of HP of every enemy on the island completely torpedoed any sense of joy I could get from it. I haven’t played in a few weeks and I haven’t finished it. So thank you Sega for fixing the movement, and thank _you_ Sonic Hub for letting me know that there are difficulty options for Another Story because I didn’t even think to check.
All these people get to retry the trial cuz it’s easier now, cool. All of us who actually won it before the update basically just got a middle finger to the face.
Involving Tails, Knuckles and Amy fighting the mini-boss on fields bit... they fixed that. You can fight as them and WIN... hell, you can do massive damage if their Power is at MAX.
If they do an update 5, I would like a recoloured supreme in giganto colours to match the other Titans and for the unreleased QTE’s to make a return into the base game along with the beta kronos to make a return I’m fine with barriers being there during the story but I would want them to be opened up when we complete the game the mods have show it could work
Crazy how this update for Knuxs went from him being worse than even 06 Knuxs to now tie or beating him out. I still think 06 Knuxs kinda edges him out since he can climb everywhere but since he's climbing is still awful, I can see Frontiers Knuxs beating him. If Frontiers Knuxs can climb everywhere, then he would easily be the 3rd place in terms of controls for Knuxs. Either way, both definitely ain't beating Adventure n SA2 Knuxs, that's 4 sure
Even before this update, Knuckles in Frontiers completely blows 06 Knuckles out of the water in terms of control. 06 controls as a whole, especially on the amigo characters (minus Blaze), were garbage. It's not even a contest.
@@DSmith3279 Naw u gotta replay 06 Knuxs. At least his gliding turning was normal and his climbing wasn't sluggish and u still at least can climb anywhere. Ya once u try to jump off, sometimes he would stick to walls, but even then it ain't the end of the world cuz the way I deal with the issue is by keep tapping A or move to the other wall and jump off safely as Knuxs. Plus his sections were short since his only objective is to hit the button so his experience ain't too horrible. Frontiers Knuxs pre update 3.5 on the other hand, his sections are way longer than 06 Knuxs n his controls were horrendous unfinished n just god awful. Moveset is off since he doesn't stop completely like Sonic. Climbing felt sluggish (At least in tight n close corners where I kept falling off cuz of how fast n awkward his climbing movement felt), and u should already know how god awful his gliding was (Especially with infinite rings n if ur trying to turn normally when dodging obstacles). Combat is at least better than 06 Knuxs but it doesn't matter since he's useless against the guardians since they eat up damage and move fast asf. He was only useful against small enemies which ain't saying much since they can be beaten one tap tho
The Master King Coco Trial itself, I never thought was THAT bad. What made it tough was nailing down the timing of both the Titans' attacks and and the parry animations. Once you got that down pat, the rest was just simple strategizing on what the best move combination was to make quick work of them in a short amount of time. But I do agree, it was a LOT of trial and error. But for me personally, biggest letdown was the combat for Amy, Knuckles, and Tails. The moves they do have are good on their own, but their more suited towards platforming than combat. This was especially frustrating against the +Guardians. As an action game lover (like DMC), the combat in Frontiers is one of my favorite aspects of this game. Aside from Unleashed, this had never been done before in a Sonic game, and it felt so fresh! I loved chaining together all those crazy skills! And I loved hunting down the Guardians because a lot of them were just so much fun to fight against! Who would have thought mini bosses could go so hard? The only thing that could have made that better was a combat rank (there's a mod for that). Which is why fighting against the +Guardians other than Sonic was such a bummer for me because I felt like they could have done more with this. But this most recent update fixed a lot of that. I did agree with everyone that I wanted the Guardians to be more challenging, but it was practically an uphill battle with the base release of The Final Horizon. I'm actually tempted to do an Extreme run of it now. I'm glad that SEGA and Sonic Team has REALLY been taking everyone's voices into consideration; they're showing an amount of care and heart in this title that they have never done before. It has never gone unappreciated for me, and the fact that ALL of this was at no extra cost is a huge W.
Thankfully, the Master King Trial became easier while on Easy Mode. With 600 Rings and fewer hits on the Titans. Wish they did that from the beginning in Update 3. Now, we need Superstars' bosses to be easier as well(especially Fang's in Golden Capital and Trip's Final Boss).
I'm glad I wasn't the only one struggling on easy mode lol. I raged quit and deleted the game after trying for a week straight trying to be the 2nd boss. 400 rings wasn't enough. Or at least give us 400 rings with the 3 bosses. Nonetheless ima redownload it and try to beat it now. I need to know what happens after.
These changes SEGA put into Update 4 was problems that I didn’t like and Update 4 is really cool. The one problem I had with Update 3 was the Master king Trail and because I was having so much frustration with that Trail In Update 3 and I’m so happy that Update 4 changed that and making much easier for players now and the perfect Parry is decent In Update 4.
While I AM proud of myself for beating the prepatched version of the game, I am ELATED that this change was made! Shows that they care. Now if we could just get Sonic Dream Team on other consoles...
So what I’m getting is that this could be a hotfix update. Knuckles has the ability to glide easier than last time. Trial Towers now have compatibility for difficulties like egg’s lap mod for pizza tower Master King’s trial now fixes the perfect parry window for players that aren’t used to perfect parrying. What they could’ve added for the update: Probably adding the text box for the hot fix on what happened to the characters. Made Knuckles glide have difficulty depending on what player chooses. (Easy mode, smooth gliding, normal mode, drift glide, hard mode, not so smooth) These could be update 3.2 or HOTFIX version but other than that, this fixes everything
I stopped playing the new dlc because of how much I hated the master king thing. And now how they changed easy mode for it im finally going to go back and try to beat it again. Thank you sega🎉😊
I think the changes to the controls means that these characters are actually affected by the acceleration settings. I remember playing as Amy and she would take a really long time to stop moving, while for Sonic it was almost instant.
I feel like not enough people are giving Sonic Team credit for the fact that they went pretty hard for something that costs no money, Like, I'd truly understand people's frustration if it costs like twenty dollars --Cough, Cough, Pokemon-- and it needed up being absolutely abysmal but.. its free.. you don't have to do it. Despite how many people hate the OG ending I'm glad they didn't get rid of it.
I vaugely remember the director for Frontiers saying he was committed to listening to fan feedback and improving the game as long as possible....so i kind just scratch my head hearing "sega could of just not done this" given that and a few other behind the scenes contexts that would contribute to them doing this update...and also because it makes me ask: "Is that really the expectation gamers (or sonic fans) have now? Getting a broken product and it being abandoned?" Cause if that's the case...i think there needs to be a bit of introspection here for everyone in the comments and not in the comments because that should be unacceptable...but that's a whole other topic. Now if they could just fix that pop-up...but that isn't likely to happen cause all versions are handicapped to Nintendo Switch specs for easy cross-plat development.
I honestly didn't mind the Final Horizon that much I just thought it was ok but now I might actually replay it, and it does give me hope that SEGA will put more effort into their next Sonic game
Honestly, I don’t mind her using her cards. The problem I had with Amy using her hammer is that it doesn’t really make her that different to Knuckles. How so? It’s because Knuckles uses his, well, Knuckles offensively, making him the offence of the group. And Amy uses her hammer offensively, making her the offence as well? To me personally, Amy using her cards really helps separate her role in the team? How will she use her cards from now on? I’m not sure. But we shall see.
I only wish they would’ve told us this was coming so I could’ve just waited a couple weeks for it to become reasonable rather than struggling my way through. It makes me happy knowing more kids will actually get to finish the game now and get to see the ending. I know child me would have just given up on that Master Koko trial.
Well, glad it made my little strat on Wyvern Boss (extreme mode, master-king koco trial) a little useless. I found out that on this specific boss, you can hold R1 or L1 to become invincible, and you can just press the other bumper to start the parry right away. Althought it does make the fight easier, it ruins the fun. At least now I don't need to do it anymore.
YES YES!!!!!!!!! THEY LISTENED TO FEEDBACK AND NOW I BEAT MASTER KING COCO's Trial on my first try with the rings being at 600 now and Sonics attack raised to level 50! Thank you Morio Kishimoto for listening to the longtime fans like myself!
If I Liked Playing as Knuckles before then This Update Changes Everything! at First I needed to be max level with knuckles to truly damage Ninja but now he is 3 Shot! they fixed his glide! and they buffed up all the characters! and the master king koco trial is now perfectly designed with perfect parry! Now makes it the best Sonic game I have ever played!
I'm happy, this makes me want to play again 😁 I do want the spin dash in the main story mode, maybe also give us the option to play the characters in the main story too? I like the challenge
Finally I will finish it, I use to get to the last fight of the koko challenge but that perfect parry was too much time consuming to practice, with so much games as sonic superstars, sonic dream team, Fortnite OG, Fortnite chapter 5, work, and other games I wanted to finish, I didn’t want to invest too much time only for that boss, now it’s doable for me even in hard
Finally they updated that Master Koco Trail. I straight up raged quick trying to beat the 2nd boos fight. I rarely made it to the 3rd boss. Im glad they patched it and made it easier. Shit, i even had it on easy mode and i still couldnt beat it. Im glad they listen and fixed it. Now im going to redownload the game and try beating it. I need to know what happens next.

Looks like it does not really fix "what is wrong with the game after Update 3" let alone some edges in the basegame I would have originally prefered to be smoothened out instead of getting Update 3, but it at least makes it more beatable(Which is important because you literally cannot get back the other characters without doing so) and they improved Knux, so that's great to see. That is really the way to handle post-completion support. One does not need to commit to big changes if one does not have the resources for it, just put some extra salt and cheese on it and the meal will taste 10 times better. (Though I have to admit, I am kinda confused by the changes to easy mode towers because...they were already entirely fine? If anything, the towers just needed checkpoints on normal/hard imo. I doubt one will even be able to reach towers if the original easy mode-towers were too hard) 2:48 Genuinely cap. Knuckles was not even bad originally and you especially cannot tell me he was worse than 06 Knuckles.
Knuckles glide was dog shit, Tails was god with infinite boost, and amy was my favorite to play as just because of air mobility. I'll definitely play again just to see the fixes
Ill be honest...i haven't touched the game since i beat final horizon which was like a week after it dropped so this gives me hope to try and actually beat it on hard rather then hate my life and play easy
Final Horizon Cyberspace stages still not in Arcade mode or cyberspace challenge mode Amy, tails, knuckles still locked to Final horizon island only and no cyberspace No way to replay mini games or select islands without starting new save. No playable super sonic in open zone or cyberspace And those are just the major things still missing but aye its an update
bro i got through hard mode on a dime, then i go to the dlc, and that final boss had me weeping 💀 i couldn't even do the final challenge before the boss fight without switching to easy mode due to the gap of those perfect guards being extremely difficult to nail on the switch

It’s amazing that they actually did this. At launch I hated this game and now I’m just having a blast in the over world. I really hope they add open zone controls to cyberspace because why not.
They are few things left unchecked before the update becomes a complete masterpiece Superme 1 should get a massive HP and defense buff along with giving back his unused QTEs Final supreme/the end is a joke when you trap him in the cycloop since the double cycloop completely reduce his defense to outright zero making him susceptible to getting insta killed after 2 or 3 stomps his charge attack that he does to the Sonic's friends shield is literally a joke since you already know how to go the core that heals him which is a big letdown the biggest solution is making it HP depending you see him charging up to and cut the core quickly and then dish out some massive damage or cycloop him to cancel his attack And if they did all of that then Sega are true legends
I was playing the master king koco's trial , I was fighting with knight when I realized something, now in the first stage when he protects himself with his shield, you can press the button to dodge and super sonic will go through the side of the shield to hit knight, saving you the stage of directing the shield against knight 🧐
They didnt get rid of the infinite flight as knuckles, you need to use parry instead of glide. But they did nerf it. You can only do it a certain amount of times, however.
Ok look I’m ok with this update but they should have added a 100% reward like being able to play as anyone in the other areas because it isn’t worth 100% then because all you get is a text thing to read for the final boss but at that point it isn’t worth it

Let me just take a minute to realize sega could’ve done none of this and easily left it like it was, but the fact they actually managed to fix it gives me hope for the next 3D game.

I am glad they realized that the game was too hard and made it slightly better. The Master Koko Trial is much more doable now. I am also so happy the Knuckles glide is so much better.
Yeah in my experience before the patch the only part, that is way to hard I prefer calling it not play tested, or unfair, is trial 5 and that’s about it.
I’m not counting the final boss healing tube being poorly explained, because they straight up tell you what to do how to counter the healing tube, if you do the objectives for cyberspace levels, or beat the cyberspace levels.
But this patch basically Tails was already way to OP, and the only challenge tails had was combat, because compared to the other character parry tails had the shortest parry time, and basically the only fun part I had with tails, is now gone making him way to OP. He’s basically just spectator mode, or god mode now.
Knuckles improved glide I think is the second best part of this patch, and they basically nerfed the knuckles flying glitch, making it less useful which i found is a cool idea, you basically can’t fly infinity with knuckles anymore, only at a certain height, where the 2 punches knuckles do, gravity starts to effect it pushing knuckles down.
Trial 5 easily best part of the patch, if I want more rings in hard mode I can just join trial 5 on easy mode then change it back to hard mode. Only minor issue is I think they did nothing for extreme difficulty, but nobody in there first play through, would ever see extreme difficulty, so I can let that slide.
Knight removing the shield secret, basically made that Titan, boss fight way to easy now, the only reason why they did it, is due to trial 5, and maybe to give some hint, for the final boss in update 3. So yeah rip anybody attacking knight shield, and fighting and enjoying the music longer, in there first play through. Rip knight only defence.
And the balloons for update 3 towers, I basically don’t care about it at all, I know they need to make the game easy, but skipping the entire platforming sections removes all of the fun.
So I think the patch only improved around 2 things from what I seen. which is Knuckles glide, and knuckles fly glitch nerf. And trial 5 don’t force people anymore, to pause buffer or do no parry runs, to beat the titans in hard or normal difficulty anymore.
Nearly Everything else just made things less fun. There is still fun to be gained but not as much as before. Unless I just prefer frontiers to be fair with its challenge.
3:18. Tbh, if they actually removed his flight delay, I think Tails would be considerably worse to play. Unlike the Knuckles delay, it kinda helps with some pretty difficult platforming, and if he just shot up like a rocket, it would A. get rid of a really neat reference to Sonic Advance 3, B. make the animation look extremely awkward, and C. make a bit of the platforming awkward. It's also the most optimal time to charge your wrench attack to basically do infinite flight. So if there is an update 3.2 (cause this just feels like an update 3.1, not 4), I do hope they don't take that out. If anything, I might just like to see Tails get a few more moves. I don’t need him to do the homing attack when he has two ways to infinitely fly, but just a couple more combat focused moves would be neat, since the only ones he has are the wrench attacks, drill stomp, and Cyclone cannon. Just a couple more attacks to diversify his combat would be neat. But that would really be the only thing I'd change about Tails, since he can now one-shot Master Ninja+ with one wrench at DMG level 68 according to Fadel. He'll still be my favorite character, but if that flight delay gets removed, it'll be a significant downgrade imo.
I agree @petesoys6348. I need for him to have his Tail Attack (Tail Swipe). Especially since they showed it in the prologue comic for the game. My suggestion to add it would be to let him do it when he has no cursor like Amy’s Card Attack or Knuckles’s Combo Attack, and when he has a cursor the Wrench Attack would execute. Tail has always been my favorite Sonic character.
I completely agree. His "flight delay" makes platforming much smoother and less frustrating. Plus, the animation is fun to watch in my opinion
Apparently, Knight has a new button prompt. You can get behind his shield more easily now.
You mean, it's more obvious what you need to do? The ability to circle around knight's shield has always been there. It's just that nobody ever thinks to do it

I’m happy to see a lot of the initial gripes I had with the Final Horizon update get patched in this new update. I’ll have to do another new playthrough of it to try out the improvements. It’s good to see SEGA and Sonic Team willingly go back to Frontiers and fix some major issues.

After Superstars released, out-of-nowhere, Sega decides it's not enough and announces YET ANOTHER Sonic game (Dream Team) to be released in less than 2 months, WHICH LANDS ON 2023 STILL!!!!!
And now, after Dream Team is out, SEGA STILL HASN'T STOPPED AND RELEASED A 4TH FRONTIERS UPDATE!?
In 2023, every time you think Sonic will not get content anymore, Sega catches us off guard. Holy bloody smokes. Sega can be a hard company to work with, but you gotta give'em credit when they deserve it.

This new update kept me by suprise honestly, and i think the best part is the knuckles glide, i'd put it in my top 4 of characters like this:
1. Sonic
2. Knuckles
3. Amy Rose
4. Tails.
I hope that sega still drops some more updates to the game to fix issues like the collisions in some parts of the worlds or even sonic controls, you know, misc things

I do remember The Final Horizon when it first came out. This little update is actually awesome, and it's cool that they finally fix Knuckles' mid previous glide. The OG was super mid and hard to control, so I'm glad they remade it. It's actually weird that Amy and Tails didn't get that many changes for their character. But yeah it's really nice that they fixed Knuckles'glide because that's been a complaint that we had every since the Final Horizon released. You know they should do? They should update the Boss Fights in Superstars and make them less rigged. But then again, this is a great update! Thanks for the information, Chris!!
Alot of gamers today are kinda weak. Someone said that the third update was too hard to be enjoyable. I'm like... What? Older games had that type of difficulty or worse. Most of these new gamers obviously need more skill.

No, it wasn't removed, Sonic hub was just bad at doing it. I tried it myself on PS4. You can still parry combo parry repeat upwards forever as usual.

No it wouldn't. It's one of those minor "issues" that largely wouldn't change people's opinions of the game even if they implemented that change.

The update was always good as far as I see it. Sega's been spoon feeding Sonic fans long enough. It's time for fans to pick up the spoon and start eating by themselves. The qql update definitely fixes quite a few issues with the characters themselves which is a very welcome change

Thank God. That trial literally made me quit the game because of how bonkers hard it was. Even on Easy Mode....
Now I can just make that easy mode, and set it back to Hard for The End. Hopefully the boss rush is beatable now without playing perfectly....

The trails need some tweaks too. The first two towers are easier then the rest. Like why do you have 10 min to fight one ninja?
This could have been a 9 or even 10 if Kishimoto adds simple swap characters without getting to the 5th tower each time, play Tails/Amy/Knuxs without the cyber ghost forms of there's along with adding more costumes, still want Knuxs to climb everywhere (Speaking of climbing, how smooth does Knuxs climb cuz back in U3, imo he climbing was kinda sluggish at least in close sections tho), change music once u play other characters, and be able to play other characters in other islands. Also while even tho the titans are now less annoying thxs to the forgiving parry, still think its better if the trial just lets the player start as Super Sonic without doing the tedious walk up to titans once u die either by not paying attention or game screws u over. If they fix all of these issues then this update would be 9 or 10/10 tbh
All I want are titan themes in jukebox, super sonic in open zone (probably the hardest thing to do), other characters in the other islands, non-cyber forms, and new cyberspace in arcade/challenge
I agree to all of this except the tedious walk up to the titans I would love to start as super sonic but on the other hand I don't want it to be that easy getting chaos emeralds were always a challenge
@@Ghosted143 That part is still unnecessary and tedious cuz there isn't any challenge to it. All u have to do is watch out for obstacles that can easily be avoided. The real challenge is facing the titans which if the player still have trouble timing the parries right or game somehow screws them over time n time again, then they shouldn't have to keep on climbing onto titans everytime. Just get to the Super Sonic fight. For me tho, I already beat the titans and want to fight them again, but since there's no option to fight them individually (Which Kishimoto also needs to add), I'm stuck with boss rush or King Koco trial. I'm tired of either slugging through enemies during boss rush just to reach one titan while King Koco, I don't want to climb up to titans and just want to get to the main course already. This problem should be erased, at least in easy n normal mode. Hard mode maybe. Extreme mode, fine keep the climbing up to titans and make the climbing more fun n harder instead of feeling like another easy n boring chore to deal with again
@@chillihog1543 imma be real I'm just speaking from my experience the king coco trial had me fight the titans so much that I can already perfectly parry everything just fine so boss rush just to get to one isn't a big deal for me and climbing the titans are tedious but in my opinion I don't mind it because it makes the fight feel like a bit of a struggle to prove you can ascend to a higher form and then the true battle begins and from a story standpoint of all the last emeralds being on their heads anyway I just don't have a problem with any of this I'm not saying it's a skill issue it's just after doing it over and over you start to not care anymore and just enjoy it
@@Ghosted143 Great that u enjoy it n got the parry timing right, but it doesn't mean everyone else does. Not even saying climbing up the titans are hard, it's just boring n feels unnecessary to do. Even with the parries being easy, what if I want to fight them again? Then I have to keep climbing up to them for the 11th time and it's just soo boring. I just want to get straight to the point since I already beaten the titans for like 4 times. Since there's no option to fight them individually (Fix this Kishimoto), I only got two options. Slug through boss rush or do tedious climbing, which both are boring to deal with. Just wish there was a faster n less tedious way to just get to the point already.
I personally don't know if the cycloop ring refresh thing is added into the Master King trials, but it's something that really needs when starting a new boss because I only made it half way of Wyvern and I couldn't make it pass that. And even if I did make it through to Knight, I can't help but feel I'll still lose with the amount of rings left.
Also I'm really hoping that the other Titan trials have been reasonably adjusted to be you know much more fair, Dragon and Snake's trails are especially annoying as hell with a small time limit.

The entire time I was playing the main story, as much as I loved and was blown away by everything, I was always looking forward to seeing Another Story and playing as the other characters again. Then their garbage maneuverability and the ridiculous amount of HP of every enemy on the island completely torpedoed any sense of joy I could get from it. I haven’t played in a few weeks and I haven’t finished it.
So thank you Sega for fixing the movement, and thank _you_ Sonic Hub for letting me know that there are difficulty options for Another Story because I didn’t even think to check.
All these people get to retry the trial cuz it’s easier now, cool.
All of us who actually won it before the update basically just got a middle finger to the face.
Involving Tails, Knuckles and Amy fighting the mini-boss on fields bit... they fixed that. You can fight as them and WIN... hell, you can do massive damage if their Power is at MAX.
If they do an update 5, I would like a recoloured supreme in giganto colours to match the other Titans and for the unreleased QTE’s to make a return into the base game along with the beta kronos to make a return I’m fine with barriers being there during the story but I would want them to be opened up when we complete the game the mods have show it could work

You can still infinite jump with knuckles you just have to Parry after the upper cut to reset the attack

Crazy how this update for Knuxs went from him being worse than even 06 Knuxs to now tie or beating him out. I still think 06 Knuxs kinda edges him out since he can climb everywhere but since he's climbing is still awful, I can see Frontiers Knuxs beating him. If Frontiers Knuxs can climb everywhere, then he would easily be the 3rd place in terms of controls for Knuxs. Either way, both definitely ain't beating Adventure n SA2 Knuxs, that's 4 sure
Even before this update, Knuckles in Frontiers completely blows 06 Knuckles out of the water in terms of control. 06 controls as a whole, especially on the amigo characters (minus Blaze), were garbage. It's not even a contest.
@@DSmith3279 Naw u gotta replay 06 Knuxs. At least his gliding turning was normal and his climbing wasn't sluggish and u still at least can climb anywhere. Ya once u try to jump off, sometimes he would stick to walls, but even then it ain't the end of the world cuz the way I deal with the issue is by keep tapping A or move to the other wall and jump off safely as Knuxs. Plus his sections were short since his only objective is to hit the button so his experience ain't too horrible. Frontiers Knuxs pre update 3.5 on the other hand, his sections are way longer than 06 Knuxs n his controls were horrendous unfinished n just god awful. Moveset is off since he doesn't stop completely like Sonic. Climbing felt sluggish (At least in tight n close corners where I kept falling off cuz of how fast n awkward his climbing movement felt), and u should already know how god awful his gliding was (Especially with infinite rings n if ur trying to turn normally when dodging obstacles). Combat is at least better than 06 Knuxs but it doesn't matter since he's useless against the guardians since they eat up damage and move fast asf. He was only useful against small enemies which ain't saying much since they can be beaten one tap tho

The Master King Coco Trial itself, I never thought was THAT bad. What made it tough was nailing down the timing of both the Titans' attacks and and the parry animations. Once you got that down pat, the rest was just simple strategizing on what the best move combination was to make quick work of them in a short amount of time. But I do agree, it was a LOT of trial and error. But for me personally, biggest letdown was the combat for Amy, Knuckles, and Tails. The moves they do have are good on their own, but their more suited towards platforming than combat. This was especially frustrating against the +Guardians. As an action game lover (like DMC), the combat in Frontiers is one of my favorite aspects of this game. Aside from Unleashed, this had never been done before in a Sonic game, and it felt so fresh! I loved chaining together all those crazy skills! And I loved hunting down the Guardians because a lot of them were just so much fun to fight against! Who would have thought mini bosses could go so hard? The only thing that could have made that better was a combat rank (there's a mod for that). Which is why fighting against the +Guardians other than Sonic was such a bummer for me because I felt like they could have done more with this. But this most recent update fixed a lot of that. I did agree with everyone that I wanted the Guardians to be more challenging, but it was practically an uphill battle with the base release of The Final Horizon. I'm actually tempted to do an Extreme run of it now. I'm glad that SEGA and Sonic Team has REALLY been taking everyone's voices into consideration; they're showing an amount of care and heart in this title that they have never done before. It has never gone unappreciated for me, and the fact that ALL of this was at no extra cost is a huge W.
So basically they made Easy Mode actually feel like easy mode, instead of, slightly easier than normal mode.

Thankfully, the Master King Trial became easier while on Easy Mode. With 600 Rings and fewer hits on the Titans. Wish they did that from the beginning in Update 3. Now, we need Superstars' bosses to be easier as well(especially Fang's in Golden Capital and Trip's Final Boss).
The bosses aren't hard, but there long af, so less hits and/or fazes would be great
I'm glad I wasn't the only one struggling on easy mode lol. I raged quit and deleted the game after trying for a week straight trying to be the 2nd boss. 400 rings wasn't enough. Or at least give us 400 rings with the 3 bosses. Nonetheless ima redownload it and try to beat it now. I need to know what happens after.

These changes SEGA put into Update 4 was problems that I didn’t like and Update 4 is really cool. The one problem I had with Update 3 was the Master king Trail and because I was having so much frustration with that Trail In Update 3 and I’m so happy that Update 4 changed that and making much easier for players now and the perfect Parry is decent In Update 4.
While I AM proud of myself for beating the prepatched version of the game, I am ELATED that this change was made! Shows that they care. Now if we could just get Sonic Dream Team on other consoles...

So what I’m getting is that this could be a hotfix update.
Knuckles has the ability to glide easier than last time.
Trial Towers now have compatibility for difficulties like egg’s lap mod for pizza tower
Master King’s trial now fixes the perfect parry window for players that aren’t used to perfect parrying.
What they could’ve added for the update:
Probably adding the text box for the hot fix on what happened to the characters.
Made Knuckles glide have difficulty depending on what player chooses. (Easy mode, smooth gliding, normal mode, drift glide, hard mode, not so smooth)
These could be update 3.2 or HOTFIX version but other than that, this fixes everything

I stopped playing the new dlc because of how much I hated the master king thing. And now how they changed easy mode for it im finally going to go back and try to beat it again. Thank you sega🎉😊
I think the changes to the controls means that these characters are actually affected by the acceleration settings.
I remember playing as Amy and she would take a really long time to stop moving, while for Sonic it was almost instant.
I feel like not enough people are giving Sonic Team credit for the fact that they went pretty hard for something that costs no money,

Despite how many people hate the OG ending I'm glad they didn't get rid of it.
I vaugely remember the director for Frontiers saying he was committed to listening to fan feedback and improving the game as long as possible....so i kind just scratch my head hearing "sega could of just not done this" given that and a few other behind the scenes contexts that would contribute to them doing this update...and also because it makes me ask:
"Is that really the expectation gamers (or sonic fans) have now? Getting a broken product and it being abandoned?"
Cause if that's the case...i think there needs to be a bit of introspection here for everyone in the comments and not in the comments because that should be unacceptable...but that's a whole other topic.
Now if they could just fix that pop-up...but that isn't likely to happen cause all versions are handicapped to Nintendo Switch specs for easy cross-plat development.

Honestly, I don’t mind her using her cards. The problem I had with Amy using her hammer is that it doesn’t really make her that different to Knuckles. How so? It’s because Knuckles uses his, well, Knuckles offensively, making him the offence of the group. And Amy uses her hammer offensively, making her the offence as well?
To me personally, Amy using her cards really helps separate her role in the team? How will she use her cards from now on? I’m not sure. But we shall see.
Shame they never fixed the Pop-In but oh well. They didn’t fix the deceleration rate either.
I only wish they would’ve told us this was coming so I could’ve just waited a couple weeks for it to become reasonable rather than struggling my way through. It makes me happy knowing more kids will actually get to finish the game now and get to see the ending. I know child me would have just given up on that Master Koko trial.
Well, glad it made my little strat on Wyvern Boss (extreme mode, master-king koco trial) a little useless. I found out that on this specific boss, you can hold R1 or L1 to become invincible, and you can just press the other bumper to start the parry right away. Althought it does make the fight easier, it ruins the fun.
At least now I don't need to do it anymore.

If I Liked Playing as Knuckles before then This Update Changes Everything! at First I needed to be max level with knuckles to truly damage Ninja but now he is 3 Shot! they fixed his glide! and they buffed up all the characters! and the master king koco trial is now perfectly designed with perfect parry! Now makes it the best Sonic game I have ever played!

Finally I will finish it, I use to get to the last fight of the koko challenge but that perfect parry was too much time consuming to practice, with so much games as sonic superstars, sonic dream team, Fortnite OG, Fortnite chapter 5, work, and other games I wanted to finish, I didn’t want to invest too much time only for that boss, now it’s doable for me even in hard
Finally they updated that Master Koco Trail. I straight up raged quick trying to beat the 2nd boos fight. I rarely made it to the 3rd boss. Im glad they patched it and made it easier. Shit, i even had it on easy mode and i still couldnt beat it. Im glad they listen and fixed it. Now im going to redownload the game and try beating it. I need to know what happens next.

Looks like it does not really fix "what is wrong with the game after Update 3" let alone some edges in the basegame I would have originally prefered to be smoothened out instead of getting Update 3, but it at least makes it more beatable(Which is important because you literally cannot get back the other characters without doing so) and they improved Knux, so that's great to see.
That is really the way to handle post-completion support. One does not need to commit to big changes if one does not have the resources for it, just put some extra salt and cheese on it and the meal will taste 10 times better. (Though I have to admit, I am kinda confused by the changes to easy mode towers because...they were already entirely fine? If anything, the towers just needed checkpoints on normal/hard imo. I doubt one will even be able to reach towers if the original easy mode-towers were too hard)

Knuckles glide was dog shit, Tails was god with infinite boost, and amy was my favorite to play as just because of air mobility. I'll definitely play again just to see the fixes

Ill be honest...i haven't touched the game since i beat final horizon which was like a week after it dropped so this gives me hope to try and actually beat it on hard rather then hate my life and play easy
Final Horizon Cyberspace stages still not in Arcade mode or cyberspace challenge mode
Amy, tails, knuckles still locked to Final horizon island only and no cyberspace
No way to replay mini games or select islands without starting new save.
No playable super sonic in open zone or cyberspace
And those are just the major things still missing but aye its an update
The very last thing we need is for them to make the others playable on the other islands
bro i got through hard mode on a dime, then i go to the dlc, and that final boss had me weeping 💀 i couldn't even do the final challenge before the boss fight without switching to easy mode due to the gap of those perfect guards being extremely difficult to nail on the switch
The End was not fixed. But They did a lot of improvements that made this better and not as infuriating.

It’s amazing that they actually did this. At launch I hated this game and now I’m just having a blast in the over world. I really hope they add open zone controls to cyberspace because why not.
They are few things left unchecked before the update becomes a complete masterpiece
Superme 1 should get a massive HP and defense buff along with giving back his unused QTEs
Final supreme/the end is a joke when you trap him in the cycloop since the double cycloop completely reduce his defense to outright zero making him susceptible to getting insta killed after 2 or 3 stomps his charge attack that he does to the Sonic's friends shield is literally a joke since you already know how to go the core that heals him which is a big letdown the biggest solution is making it HP depending you see him charging up to and cut the core quickly and then dish out some massive damage or cycloop him to cancel his attack
And if they did all of that then Sega are true legends
I was playing the master king koco's trial , I was fighting with knight when I realized something, now in the first stage when he protects himself with his shield, you can press the button to dodge and super sonic will go through the side of the shield to hit knight, saving you the stage of directing the shield against knight 🧐
How did they not put the new Cyber Spcae Stages in the Arcade mode and Cyber Spcae Challenge mode? How did they forget that?
Update 3 was fun enough without these changes and I never actually minded knuckles glide

Im glad that Knuckles, Tails and Amy got their combat stats upgraded. They were all so pathetically useless when fighting those guardian boss fights.
Knuckles startup for the glide got removed and i like that
They didnt get rid of the infinite flight as knuckles, you need to use parry instead of glide. But they did nerf it. You can only do it a certain amount of times, however.
The weird knuckles movement from patch 3 allowed you to do an infinite jump and hight glitch. I little skipped everything
Ok look I’m ok with this update but they should have added a 100% reward like being able to play as anyone in the other areas because it isn’t worth 100% then because all you get is a text thing to read for the final boss but at that point it isn’t worth it
This patch was very good, I just don't understand WHY THEY DIDN'T FIX SONIC'S STOMP ANIMATION, IT'S CROOKED TO THIS DAY
