      Age is not kind to these shoes. But they are still very bouncy, very propulsive.

    Bought these shoes late spring based on your recommendation and I agree with everything in this video. Played yesterday and I thought to myself that it’s amazing they still feel springy and quick. Really love these shoes and I would never have even considered them if it weren’t for you doc. So thank you! My only hope for the next iteration is a bit more ventilation maybe but really I have no complaints

    I got a pair of the GP turbo. As a sufferer of foot pain, and playing outdoors in the cold, I’m trying yet another shoe. My Gel Res 8 were not cutting it in the cold. Just want to thank Zach for all the great reviews! I have a relatively wide foot and toe box and in some shoes I can fit a size 10. I got the GP turbo in a 10.5 and swapped out the new thick insoles for thinner ones while the shoe is new. This has to be the most comfortable shoe I’ve played in at this phase of play. If they break in at all in the forefoot it will be a bonus. The heel is big so I may have to lace them specially to keep the heel in the shoe.

    • @villiam7941
      @villiam7941 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure that this is always the case. I did ask this question directly and got the answer that “burning a hole” is a normal wear and the shoes cannot be returned for the refund even during the first 6 month. And unlike in the USA, there is no such thing like “six months outsole warranty” at all for any shoes sold in Europe. But I managed to return Mizuno WET 4AG after burning the outsole in 5 months, but it was popular non tennis online retailer.

    • @MrGlk
      @MrGlk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@villiam7941 in the first 6 months in EU you can return any item that experiences a defect, they cannot refuse. The first 6 months it is up to the manufacturer (via retailer) to prove its an extra ordinary reason, after 6 months through 24 you need to prove the defect and it's dealt directly by manufacturer - using shoes and then wearing through in normal use in 6 months is not exceptional. Know you rights (UK you can push this to 5 years but gets to be a pain).

    I own a pair of these and have broken them in. When new the toe box felt quite tight (like my toes couldn't move too much), however this soften up and it was fine. The tongue padding didn't last long, at first it was really comfortable but it's not so cushiony anymore, although it still feels ok.
    My biggest issue is I am starting to get heel pain after playing tennis with this shoe. The back of the shoe is too soft, I feel that it needs some reinforcement at the back of the shoes so that it holds its shape a bit more. I'm also getting a bit of heel slippage so I tried wearing two pairs of socks but this didn't really fix the problem. Making the lace tighter also didn't solve this problem.

    • @FootDoctorZach

    hey Doc, i was curious seeing this video - maybe you explained this somewhere else and i didn't see it yet - what are the repercussions of playing with an old tennis shoe? For ex. i have these really old Zoom Cage 3s - bought them in 2018, played them on hard courts, clay courts etc for many many hours; outsole is worn out quite a bit but still wearable. I'm not a hefty guy, weighting about 63 kilos. The question is: do i risk damaging my joints by playing with these shoes? They are my go-to tournament shoes; sometimes i feel some discomfort on the knees after playing over 3-4h in them. Compared to other newer shoes i have (Vapor Cage 4) i don't have the same level of discomfort after 3+ hours on the court.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I talk about it a bit in my when to throw away your shoes video but wearing older shoes increases the shock because the midsole hardens and loses its shock absorption so it’s better to stay relatively current with performance sneakers

      I honestly don’t know who all offers them ATM- probably the court ff2 if they’re still offering the guarantee- I know it’s gotten a bit screwed up with the rona and labor shortage so some of the guarantees aren’t being fulfilled so I’m told

    what other tennis shoes have a similar responsiveness and bounciness as these?

    Hey Doc! Love the videos man. I just wanted to inquire about a problem I’ve had over the years. So I always have worn Nikes (Cage 2, Cage 3 which were the best) and am now using the Vapor NXT. I’ve had then for maybe 6-8 months now and they play great, it’s just that the comfort has never been tip-top. This was the same when trying out a pair of Vapor X Knit which were sent back very quickly after not being able to walk post-matches. It is also worth noting that I wear a size 9 in casual shoes but wear a 9.5 in tennis shoes. I guess my question would be: am I purchasing the wrong shoe? Is this the type of shoe I need? Thanks a whole bunch- Ian

      @markmoore5981 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are the most cushioned and comfortable Nike shoe I can recall, and I have worn a few over the last 40 years. For me, if cushioning is what you seek, this is the best shoe on the market.

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I’m not surprised the knits bother you- IMO the vapor NXT isn’t the most reliable shoe but yeah as Mark said these are second to none when it comes to comfort and cushion - they’re my #1 Nike for sure even more than cage 3 which is a classic

      @@FootDoctorZach thanks so much for your guidance! I now can say that I am the proud owner of a pair of GP Turbos and WOW, I couldn’t be more impressed. I played this morning for the first time for over two hours and with any other shoe I’ve had in the past, I would barely be able to walk after that initial session. The arches of my feet would be screaming. However, after wearing the Turbos I felt INCREDIBLE! The old-school tongue, the support, the cushion, and most of all, the Zoom unit, make these a true “step-in comfort” shoe. For anyone reading this comment who is looking for a tennis shoe that is ACTUALLY comfortable, look no further and go buy this shoe! Thanks again- Ian
