Personally I love mushroomhead and slipknot but it pisses me off when people say mushroomhead is copying slipknot even though mushroomhead was around first and their music style is completely different.
Lucas McKnight right like if you listen to mushroomhead bwomp which came out in '96 then listen to spit it out which came out in '99 and you listen closely they have very similar song structure especially in the middle of the song. I am from Cleveland and I like them both. I would never boo Slipnot or throw anything at them. There is room for both groups. Its nice to see two bands who are kind of similar though. I love both bands

The opportunity was there for both bands to be with road runner but MRH (aka just skinny) decided that it was too corporate and didn’t wanna have anything to do with them. Look at the different paths now.

They could have all been great friends and done lots of tours, simply touring with Slipknot would have brought even more fans than they already had (since the Knot’s fanbase is so gigantic). Ultimately people want to start stupid shit about who was first, who was better etc. And I don’t mean to say that MRH doesn’t have a huge fanbase, but they simply never got that “big break” that they deserved, and looking back, a lot it is a result of their own decisions.

They also have artwork of a girl holding a knife and Corey’s head. Stitch also made a mushroomhead album cover mocking volume 3. And they have also played a show dressed up as slipknot. But skinny acts like the fans are the ones stirring shit up. I love shroom but don’t put up a front like you had nothing to do with it.

Yeah I had an encounter with a Mushroom head fan when I was 13 or 14 I knew the guy and knew he was drunk but at the same time I started to remember why this guy was famous in my town for beating up like 3 or 4 people at a time and left it alone

Anyway, it just really bothers me how everyone goes on about who copied who and which band is better. They are both good and are actually pretty different when you take a closer look.

Anyway, I don't see that much of a similarity between them except for their elaborate costumes (which bands like Mudvayne have too). They're both nu-metal, of course, but that's an umbrella genre: Slipknot I would categorize as more thrash/speed metal with hip-hop influences, while Mushroomhead is less easily definable, like a mix of speed metal with symphonic and doom metal influences.
I was a Mushroomhead fan and my sons mom turned me on to Slipknot. Slipknot now is one of my all time favorites, but its hard to say that because it art, its music. Corey has done some incredible work outside of the band and so has Jeffrey. I am currently on a "Jeffrey Nothing" bender.....I love "1000 years"! But I would die if both bands got together. I cant imagine a more epic combination! 11 years after this video and still hoping

Slipknot is good. Mushroomhead is great. Slipknot is undoubtedly heavier than Mushroomhead. The difference is that Mushroomhead almost did what Slipknot did without a major label backing them and little to no marketing. Mushroomhead fuckin rules and in their prime they were way better live than Slipknot was in terms of sound quality. I saw Slipknot live in 2002 and had a great time at the show. Slipknot is technicality and stamina. Drum-wise. Vocally Mushroomhead takes the cake but everything else...Slipknot. I used to think MH were posers. Now I know everyone's a sell out gaining on a trend.
I had the luxury of discovering both Slipknot and Mushroomhead at the same time. As a result, I simply never cared about the dispute (and I'm not sure I would have anyway, because it was pety and adolescent). They're both excellent bands and each held an equally special place in my heart.

Imagine this, a theatrical band only festival called NightmareFest or something (Just a name I came up with) with Slipknot, Mushroomhead, GWAR, Mudvayne, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Rammstein and Alice Cooper.

I love both bands, Both bands wear masks but their sound it so different from each other. I don't know why people keep comparing the two. It would be awesome to see them play together.

My friend was at the show he was referring to and it was at nautica Jacob's pavilion and ya she said they threw anything and everything. Now I like mushroomhead but slipknot wins every time
