From my understanding, A23 is actually the second best straight, after AKQ and before KQJ. The reason being that you look at them as high card, so A with KQ kicker is better than A with 23 kicker and A is better than K with QJ kicker. There is also the reason why trips are above straight flush is because there are 48 different straight flush possible but only 13 unique ranked trips. Since in a 3 card poker, it would be weird to have AKQ straight flush be the best when someone else could have that same hand of different suit, making the betting rounds go on forever. (Since the player that asks for a show is always the loser when they have same cards so you’d have problems where the “best hand” loses.) This is why trips are ranked higher than straight flush as there can only be 1 trip aces per game, etc.
At 6:25 you said that the “asked player can either account or refuse” who is the asked player? Is it player 1? Just player 5? Or is it both, like do both of them need to accept the sideshow in order for it to happen or is it just one? If just one then which one?
