You don't understand that those 34 felonies in this case were just nuances of the same issue. They all essentially mean the same thing, just stated differently. A normal person wouldn’t receive that many charges and never has for misdemeanors. In this case, there was no legal precedent for combining smaller charges into a larger one, which has never been done before on anyone. According to case law, you can’t apply this approach if you’re adhering to rulings from previous cases. It can't be some newly found theory and used on Trump and nobody else.

He is a Democratic Senator soon to be in our Senate for the state of California. Previously he served many years as a representative in the House of Representatives. He was also on the January 6th Committee, a by-partisan congressional group which investigated the January 6, 2020 insurrection and Trumps part in it (and others in his cabinet). We had hoped for indictment and conviction for Trump but Justice was not served fast enough mostly due to delays which were undoubtedly deliberate. (Many people actually crashing the capital were found quilty and went to jail, but he is very likely to pardon them.) He is a good, nice, soft spoken man. I used to think that the Republicans would finally have to make some kind of break with Trump and the MAGA movement - who are at odds with much of the "classic Republican heritage" from the 20th century and the mindset of the party in those days - but after thw electiona two years ago I think they are chained to Trump and the MAGA mythology forever. The "great comeback" of Trump, while in fact less impressive than it is painted out to be by MAGA evangelists and GOP pundits, has made it practically impossible for the GOP to distance themselves from him; they will defend him no matter what he does or says, and even after he is gone. The old GOP, to all intents and purposes, is dead: anyone who wants to have a revived "sane and responsible conservatism" had better start a new party. The Trump movement has taken over the GOP and now they will never part ways again.
I would add that I think the 2020 election will turn out to have been a Pyrrhic victory for the GOP as a party.
