I feel like Lateralus is an album you need to listen sitting in a room or laying in bed without any distractions and with headphones whereas the Undertow you can play it in your car and rock out to some Tool lol

Still one of my fave Tool songs and albums, their first full length and they had already figured out who they were as a band and where they wanted to take their music
I was 29 when this came out in 93. Instantly became my favorite song at that time, and became my ass runner favorite band. For the next 30 years I've enjoyed the most wonderful sonic and lyrical journey with these wizards!
Yep, I agree. Aenima and Undertow are my most frequent car albums for Tool. I listen to them all in the car, of course, but those two are the best. Lateralus, 10000 Days, and Fear Inoculum are much better with headphones and at time to focus and listen for all the nuances. BTW, Better Call Paul about made me choke on my water, which kinda made me feel like I was caught in the Undertow, so that's cool.

Hands down my fave off Undertow. The addiction keeps pulling MJK back in comes through the music and lyrics. Feels like he's trying to swim against the music if that makes sense. The "high" keeps pulling him under--cold, black, and only half as good by the third time in.
"Jerk-off" is another straightforward Angry Maynard classic. I'm going to have to check your library for that one.
