Like, an in-character diary type thing to help add personality to everything. I try to make usage of things like the natures and such. If the game I'm playing has an extensive enough dex, I also try to switch out the team to have different members between each gym.
I miss old school nuzlockes when people didn’t think too hard about them. No calculators, no consulting bulbapedia, no leveling to level caps, no playing around crits, just people using Pokémon they liked with silly nicknames and being sad when they died
I disagree 100%. Maybe it’s because I’ve played since gen 1 first came out, but HC Nuzlockes are like “Adult Pokemon” to me. After I get too good at games I like a challenge. They are not only challenging but also offer more variety if you add the randomized settings. I can challenge Whitney who may have 2 Charizards or even a Rattata and a Weedle. And the item roulette is just another game within itself.
My problem with Nuzlockes is how tedious they are. Sure you can hack in rare candies but that does take a huge element of the challenge away; the possibility of losing Pokemon forever at any point. Then you have a lot of people doing battle calculations and such which further makes the whole thing more "safe" and sanitized.

I love seeing the different ways people play Pokémon. You may be knkwn for doing the gen1 runs, but your other challenges are also incredibly entertaining. Never would I ever think to do this kind of run but seeing you do it makes me happy.
A bug type challenge may work quite well for Crystal. You can actually get a full roster of bug types not too far along, and there's a fair bit of secondary type diversity - steel, flying, poison, fighting, rock. Quite a bit of variety in move pools, too.
I always love your videos, they are always great and interesting on top of something you dont really have to watch - you're my favorite youtuber for when I have bad migraines and cant look at a screen ❤❤❤ I hope that doesnt sound weird lol As for run ideas, mono bug would be cool in g/s/c. Going through some things at the moment. Your videos always provide a nostalgic escape no matter what mood I’m in. Don’t be overly critical about what you release JRose. We love the vids no matter what. Let’s goooooooooooooooo
I was wondering if this video would ever exist. I'm down for more "lost" videos. A creator is always their own biggest critic, I'm sure they will be enjoyable.
I enjoy all the content you put out, Jrose - you know what would be fun is doing each type for something like this and comparing the times for each type. Yeah there might be some big discrepancies but it would continue your theme of solo run "tier lists" that might make the overall theme a little more interesting! Also, not that you needed it for this, but if you slightly altered your restriction to "Can't exceed level 50 before the red fight" as opposed to 'can't exceed 50 ever', that might help you retain some of your sanity when making these, since Red's pokemon give SO MUCH experience. Either way, I look forward to the next one :)
According to the description he has a guy that made original music for his videos. I’m not sure which specific track it is but the music is all on the channel in the description.
Definitely want more content like this! Fun game, fun type decision, interesting how bad they are going to be. Love to see you overcome something, especially when its stronger than low level abra.

@@dariuspenner2528 nope. Other solo runners have used a variety of grass pokemon such as hoppip and bellsprout and still did horribly. Its due to the first gym being flying, second being bug, and fourth being ghost/poison along with grass pokemon learning mostly grass, normal, and sometimes poison moves. Meganium is essentially a grass type blastoise. Good at most playthroughs, not so great competitvely due to being more bulky than offensive.
And if we allow any types, gen 1 electric types take forever. They learn normal and electic moves. Though some get submission and seismic toss for the rock and ground types. Other than stadium pickachu with surf and zapdos with drill peck.
@@jamtone4492 Fire type's only positive matchup in gen 2 is Bugsy. That's the only plot relevant battle that Fire is good for. The second gym. 1, out of the roughly 15ish battles that matter at all during the run. For comparison, grass has a positive matchup against Chuck. 1 to 1 there. On the negative side, Fire has a bad matchup against 6, 3 of whom are among the most dangerous fights in the run. Grass has a bad matchup against 4, 3 of which fire ALSO has a bad matchup with.
It's really too bad Houndour is a post-game encounter in gen 2. It matches up so well against the majority of Johto gym leaders and it's literally the one good Dark-type special attacker before the physical/special split.
Dark has a good matchup against Morty, Koga, and Will. As well as almost completely nullifying Red's Espeon. That's uh... one Gym leader, for the record. It being Houndour specifically does mean Bugsy too though.
Dude you should try playing Crystal Legacy like you did with Yellow Legacy. They make the Kanto gym leaders much tougher so for once they WOULD be worth talking about lol.
Thanks for the content Jrose, there isn't much Gen 1 pokemon content in Spanish so your videos inspired me to start my own channel and do challenges using your same rules so thanks for the inspiration. I can't wait to watch "the lost episodes"

And here I was getting worried you were going to miss a day
I love seeing the different ways people play Pokémon.
Quite a bit of variety in move pools, too.
didn't he already do one?
By movepool variety, you mean "unSTAB attacks on everything, mostly Normal", then yeah that's variety ig
I'd really love to see this challenge with Normal-type Pokemon
Never clkcked so fast
I always love your videos, they are always great and interesting on top of something you dont really have to watch - you're my favorite youtuber for when I have bad migraines and cant look at a screen ❤❤❤
I hope that doesnt sound weird lol
As for run ideas, mono bug would be cool in g/s/c. Or normal!
Ghost type would mostly be a solo run, i think a team of the eeveelutions would make for a great video!
Ive loved all the vids dude, keep em coming. This stuff kinda helps relive childhood
Nice run. I'm here chuckling at 'PYROSE'
Jrose, I want all the content and all the series. You're quite literally the only content creator that I've seen every video for.
It's always a trip to see you use more than one Pokemon in battle.
Honestly this style of video is really cool! Love the idea of a jrose lost epidodes format being a thing we get to see!
I love Flareon in Gen 2! Fire Blast, Return, Shadow Ball, and Iron Tail was the moveset on my solo run.
So many fanbros get off on the whole "buh buh no moooooves" bs. They can stuff it, Flareon is love >w
Well, you're half right. A creator who isn't their own biggest critic is a shitty person (and even worse creator).
3:16 where is this song from?
According to the description he has a guy that made original music for his videos. I’m not sure which specific track it is but the music is all on the channel in the description.
@@ragcat3732thanks, I was having a total Mandela Effect with that track, like I felt it’s from a video game but I couldn’t place it.
Definitely want more content like this! Fun game, fun type decision, interesting how bad they are going to be. Love to see you overcome something, especially when its stronger than low level abra.
Let's see all lost Jrose11 challenge runs!
Bro, I’ve been watching you since the top 10 most annoying Pokémon to catch and every red and blue challenge after that! Your challenge runs are amazing man! I can’t wait to see more videos in the future! I love the jrose11 month!
On the fifth day of Christmas my Jrose gave to meeeeee
Fiiiiiire types are traaaaaash
Gen 1 mechanics
Ce-le-bi
Lots of tiny bugs
And an Abra with really buff aaaarmsss
I love your solo series, but when you drop a standalone video, it’s always a delight. All that to say, yes please to the lost episodes
Fire types are like the early gens hard mode
Gen 2 is grass, it gets absolutely destroyed.
@ jamtone4492 That’s more a consequence of the Meganium line being terrible than an issue with the type itself.
Hey jrose. Long time sub here. Been watching since the first magikarp Vs Pokémon red version. Thanks for all the years of entertainment. ❤
Thank you really much for these vids. Need more of monotype vids!
It's rather funny. Here I am remarking how mono-Fire weapon types in Kid Icarus Uprising have problems. (Wolf Claws sucks, Burning Palm isn't impressive, Leo Cannon sucks, and Bomber Arm REALLY sucks.) Being mono-Fire likes to be a plague in these games in general, doesn't it?
Unless you’re VGC Arcanine until one specific kitty was introduced.
Or Gen 6 Entei.
Other than that, not a good typing, lol.
It's good to hear you have multiple editors because at the rate you're releasing videos you'd be working one person to death lol! But now you have multiple editors to work to death so keep em coming!
Don't care. Cyndaquil will forever be my bro.
Cyndaquil is still objectively the best choice of starter.
And cynda ends up as a flipping DRACULA! That's how I named my very first Typhlosion in Gold, and I glitched rare candies in Goldenrod XDDD
Hey Jrose! Silent but long term viewer here, I love the new content you are putting out in addition to the runs. Please keep up the good work bro!
Jgoat
Thanks for releasing this i'ma be honest anything u release I will watch I LOVE your content and analysis
JROOOOOSE LET'S GO
Oh cool, I really liked this idea for a series and hope you decide to keep going with it.
meow
you're first! jrose said so! LMAO
Going to be honest I keep forgetting Slugma is gen 2 and not gen 3 because it shows up so late , and I didnt care by the time I first ran into it , it went into a box and I never used it
Fire is always the best type 🔥 🔥 🔥
Jrose: Unsure about uploading past unseen content
Us: “Hell yeah upload it!!!”
Naw man, I don't even have to watch to argue and say Typhlosion is da real mvp. Now I will watch.
I definitely would like to see this same challenge done with different typings! Great stuff as usual
I’ll take 11th
Cringe
They see your dedication and call you delusional. Keep grinding, King
I had totally forgotten about the previous video you mentioned but after you said it I was like "Ahh yeah that was fun" so I'd love to see this series continued because it's a neat idea 😊
01 video a day?!? Loving it
I have watched every single one of your Gen 1 and 2 videos and would absolutely 100% like to see more videos in this format.
This is the best content to watch while falling a sleep after a long day
Thank you for your struggles and your endurance Jrose
so happy you are posting every day, man
