- Hello, adventurers, and welcome back to the Red Quills for this final episode (for now) in our Red Quills Guide to Fantasy Lands! Six weeks of new fantasy settings, flora and fauna galore, and we're heading back to our staple of tutorial videos on specific styles.
This episode is a favourite of mine: I've made a multi-level map of the under-city of Eglarond, with labelled areas for the thieves, the vampires, the black markets, and the totally legitimate citizens! Additionally, some notes around the borders give insight into ongoing quests (check out the Lore Archive episodes for more), and into the world as a whole.
Music credit to S. Falzon for "Realm of the Dreamer".

Love this channel. Thoughts in your narration added to your artistic endeavor has rejuvenated what it is about gaming that drew me into it as an adolescent. Thank you, and please, continue.
You're so very welcome. I will!
I love this idea! My Astral Sea setting has layers like this; now I need to redo that map!
Layers on the Astral sea to give a three dimensional aspect? I love it!
Another incredible map concept. I dont know how you do it..
It would be interesting if the city districts were color-coded to some degree and those colors would reflect on underground chambers with direct access to the surface.
That would be a great way of making it easy to find a way out. Perhaps they would also then reflect the influence of various surface gangs?
Yeah, things like monster territories, thieves guild hideouts, and high tide flooded areas could have a slight tint, the exact meaning of which, would be discoverable while exploring the undercity.
@@quban234 Definitely worth revisiting, with some of these ideas
I think this might be my favorite map of yours yet. It's got everything I want and the creature designs are so fun as always! I might try this map style out myself. Maybe not as big as a city but like a ruined tower or something, could be fun? Haha
I think it would definitely still work on a smaller design, why not!
Is the top layer above the surface? If not, then this is a massive cavern.
The top layer is the surface, yes, on the river. But there's no reason it couldn't be - caverns further beneath the dives of the Underdark, perhaps.
@@RedQuills thanks for the reply, also that would be a great idea.
