    It's fun seeing this again! My intro to The World of Two Moons was through the fantastic comic series.
    I bought the RPG box, but never managed to drum up enough interest for a game. It was still a beautiful source of lore. The map alone made it worth it.
    I don't know what licensing would be required, but it would be uber cool to see Chaosium release an updated, slightly less crunchy version of this.

      I'd absolutely LOVE an updated release, especially with material surrounding Shards, the Wild Hunt, etc. And more maps!

      I need to catch up on the reading. I stopped somewhere around Kings of the Broken Wheel.

      @@vZwicky That's where I had stopped too, but this past year I got back into it all. Really glad that I did.

    Great game. Had so much fun with it. ElfQuest and RuneQuest are indeed based on the same core mechanics (Basic Fantasy RPG). For Recognition, we always had the players decide if they wanted to try to find recognition and then the game has rules for the chances of it happening. If I was to use these rules again, I would probably include a rule for something like luck points that players can spend to get out of the most awful consequences of this combat system. But you make a good point about combat being something elves should avoid unless absolutely necessary. I could also see a lot of hunting situations becoming fairly dangerous.

    I have that and the board game. I’m genuinely surprised to see that others know about it. So cool.

      I wish I had the board game! I REALLY wish I had the Ral Partha miniatures.

    I have this game in perfect condition because I’ve never played it.

    Thanks for this wonderful spotlight on the ElfQuest RPG! Would folks like to see a reissue of this game? What about an all-new game? Or both?

      I would 10000% buy a reissue :)

    0:29 - Amazing Engine Bughunters? I don't think I knew anyone who actually played AE.

      Dozens and dozens of games of it actually. My gaming group was obsessed with it, and until we discovered the Star Wars d6 system around 1996, it was the main sci fi game at our table. Even after Star Wars, I had a preference for the Aliens/Predator inspired Bughunters, even if the system wasn't as tight.

      When I was on active duty I ran an Aliens inspired campaign using Twilight 2K for a bunch of other Marines. It was absurdly fun.
      As for AE I remember paging through the books every time I'd stop at a game shop but I never actually grabbed any. The guy who mostly DM'd for the group I belonged to later in the 90's absolutely fell in love with it's replacement (Alternity), going so far as to doing an entire fantasy conversion of it.

      @Living4Crits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fmatson I tried Alternity for the same feel as well once tht system came out. I guess now that we have an actual Aliens RPG there are better options?

    The skill system and skill improvement sounds like Call of Cthulhu. Both published by Chaosium, but different creators?

    • @Living4Crits
      @Living4Crits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's d100 as well right? I guess it would make sense. Not a bad system at all, just a bit more granular I reckon.

    • @HavardBlackmoor
      @HavardBlackmoor 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct. Chaosium uses variants of the same system for most if not all of its RPGs. The variant in ElfQuest was surprisingly elegant however. Simplified and streamlined for ElfQuest style gaming. A bit too deadly for my tastes though. I would also have preferred more details on the magic system, although I also love the basics of how they handle magic.

      @@HavardBlackmoor Do all their systems have the hit location damage? That's what seems the most brutal to me.

      @@Living4Crits Call of Cthulhu does not have hit location damage. It does have sanity damage, you can go crazy.
