I disagree completely, Patrick Dempsey's character was not the heart and soul of the show. It was and has been Ellen's character, Meredith Grey, her growth along with her relationships is what connects the viewers.
I never liked the Meridith character and think Pompeo is a horrible actress, her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Her fake crying wasn't even believable on that show. Patrick Dempsey made that show watchable and it shows, since the departure of Sandra Oh & Patrick the show went to the dogs. The actresses & actors who are left are just not strong enough to pull it off. They should have ended this series in the 10th season.

Alex was the one that got me most. It was totally unexpected and was so mysterious. It was almost because it was so undramatic that it was worse than any of the intense deaths or departures of Christina or Derek or George. Also because he was pretty much the last original character other than Meredith (of the intern group). His arc was fantastic.
I’m mad because they destroyed his arc. Alex had come so far and spent so much time healing from Izzy but at the end he went back to her. Boils my blood every time I think about it.

No matter what I will remain a die hard Greys fan , I have never not once stopped watching this show even tho it’s saddened me to see my favorite characters go. This show has been running so long I know realistically the actors have a right to pursue other endeavors. All time favorite show ‼️
I so agree with you there. It's always heartbreaking when a beloved character leaves, but it's still an awesome show. And honestly I also love it when they bring new characters in with new story lines and then you fall in love with those characters too. That's part of what makes this show so awesome is how it's evolved over the years but has always been AWESOME!
I hate all the departures. Especially Lexi, Mark, Callie, Christina and Alex. But for me, not having Christina and Meredith together anymore was the one that truly changed the dynamic of the show and it’s characters. Christina and Meredith’s friendship was the real central relationship of the show, not Derek and Meredith. They might have been married, but Christina and Mer were platonic soul mates and “each other’s person”. They were the best of friends. Above all others. The show has truly never been the same without that anchor friendship, a friendship that was so special and so genuine, there for each other from the very beginning, and through every triumph, challenge and heartbreak, they always could count on each other and it came through the screen; that kind of chemistry is very rare. Love Killing Eve, but I really miss Mer and Christina together. When she left, the heart of the show, and the heart of the central relationship of the show, was cut out. 💔
I know right my opinion is exactly the same as yours. I definitely love Merlex but Cristina and Meredith understood each other like nobody else could. I get it that they may fight a lot but people who love each other fight because they just want the best for them and just want to protect them so yeah Mertina will always be the best TV friendship for me (with Joey and Chandler from FRIENDS)

Problems with Shonda and Katherine made Izzie's arc run amok and her exit was inglorious. But when things were fine between Shonda and Katherine, Izzie enjoyed a great character development.
I started watching greys anatomy 4 days ago and in season 7 almost 8 I’ve watched every video on TH-cam and I know everything. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch greys anatomy when Derek and Cristina leaves. I’m 80% sure I’ll stop i just can’t bring myself to watch it since I know it will not be the same.
Chyler (Lexi) wanted to leave due to stress and Eric (mark) left because he had a chance to take on a much bigger project, but then left that project to deal with his depression
They didn't give him much on season 5 because before it was shot, he'd gave his notice that he was leaving. So season 5 was basically him leaving the show.

I'm currently rewatching with my boyfriend and I noticed Izzie caused a lot of problems. She broke Karevs heart multiple times (well he did cheat so I guess he deserved it), she got mad because the interns were trying to help Karev pass his test, she slept with George when he was married, acted like she felt bad for Callie but was also trying to convince George to leave her, she embarrassed Callie by making the entire hospital think she was going to fight her when all she wanted to do was talk, she almost got all of them fired including Bailey with that Denny situation and now she technically is a homewrecker again because she broke up Alex and Jo (yes I know she was not aware of Jo but the point still stands). Izzie was definitely sweet, nice and bubbly but her selfishness was her biggest flaw. But I guess a lot of them had their selfish ways.
Can we talk about how Jackson and Maggie became a thing- it seems so weird :// especially since the plot of them wanting to get down on each other was after their parents got married.

I like that Jackson supported April while they were all cleaning up in the kitchen after that dinner party that Meredith hosted. You could tell how much he cared for her. Derek dying, Callie and Arizona breaking up and then leaving the show was the saddest. Even though the dynamic of the show changed when Christina left, it wasn't the saddest. Meredith and Christina had outgrown each other in so many ways. I think how she exited was very befitting.
The first five years had light hearted banter throughout the drama. It just was never the same after George and Izzy. April became my favorite character eventually, and now there is a huge void on the show.

Oh for sure. Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh are the best actors (as in talent) by far. The way Sandra would just be straight-faced one second and the next second her face contorts and she's in tears, always amazed me.
Mark, Lexie, Cristina and Derek departures changed the show forever😖 Still I continue watching for Callie and Arizona. When Callie was gone I started to skip episodes to only watch the ones where Arizona had participation, which were not that much. The end of season 14 was the end of GA for me. I don‘t regret about it😜 Seeing Killing Eve is way more worth it than GA😋
Sarah Drew held an outstanding character, she nailed it, as in life she is warm and compassionate, so to was Dr April Kepner, loved her and all about her performances xx
George's departure was the hardest for me. Iy was sad and hearing the reasons why make it even sadder. He should have been able to come out. It would have made total sense as to why his character failed at so many women he loved.

I was already devastated about some characters leaving/dying. But when Patrick died/left i couldn't watch it anymore because it's just sad and the show just isn't the same anymore.
George dying was the first thing that made me want to stop watching but the plane crash deaths... pushed me to stop all together. I watch old episodes but I haven’t watched newest ones since then... I did see the Derek death episode which just made me give up on it.

I stopped watching Grey’s Anatomy after Shonda Rhimes very political on the show. That was it for me. Being that she already fired an iconic cast member due to her own personal issues. She also didn’t renew cast members that had been on for years. Shonda Rhimes works for her own personal agenda and doesn’t really seem concerned with the fans. It’s so sad because I absolutely LOVED that show and watched it for years. Shonda Rhimes is the reason I stopped watching Grey’s Anatomy.
After Derek‘s death I only watched it til season 14,then I stopped.Shonda and her crew doesn‘t even have any ideas for the ambulance,it‘s just to boring,and most of the characteres leaves.The new ones aren‘t really that great.🤷♀️Shonda and the crew should have stopped Grey‘s Anatomy right after Derek..🤷♀️ but no..she‘s going on and on..with no really ideas..

All of the departures were tough. Christina, George, and Derek were the worst. But, that's life. People die, people move on. Alex leaving was particularly hard because he was the last of the original group. And the way he was written out of the show was unsatisfying. None of the characters leaving would make me stop watching the show.
I stopped after each of the main characters died off, Then I’d start over.. then stop and grieve and start again. Like I had to grieve each character that died off. I got attached to them all.
I had really wanted to see the show to the end because I really loved it and keep rewatching it but after Christina's departure it just wasn't the same. And then Derek died and I only continued watching because of Alex and Jo. After the way they wrote Alex off I am not returning. I don't have any remaining interest in whatever they do with the rest of the characters. Bailey got her happy ending in my opinion and I am just going to imagine that the storyline's had gone different for the ones who left or were killed off. I am currently rewatching it and seriously considered stopping after Lexie's and Mark's death but I really liked Alex and Jo and wanted to see them end up together so I think I will leave it off just before Christina leaves. And I will probably forever only ever rewatch up until that point

For me, Mertina was heart and soul of this show. As soon as Christina left it became "just ok". I didn't care for Derek. I'm sad Alex is gone. The only reason I will be still watching, is Bailey. If I would have a daughter I would honestly aim to raise her just like her, she's an icon.
I wish O Malley stayed and became a big leading character. He was the most like able in my opinion. I think he could’ve been better than Alex in terms of character development and storyline

I found gorge omalies departure the saddest as he died to save a person but Derek shepherd was also a sad one as he saved the lifes of 4 people and was mistreaten in the hospital i felt kind of angry when alix kareve left as it was like he went back to how he was nearer the start of the show

Oh for sure. Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh are the best actors (as in talent) by far. The way Sandra would just be straight-faced one second and the next second her face contorts and she's in tears, always amazed me.

Mark, Lexie, Cristina and Derek departures changed the show forever😖 Still I continue watching for Callie and Arizona. When Callie was gone I started to skip episodes to only watch the ones where Arizona had participation, which were not that much. The end of season 14 was the end of GA for me. I don‘t regret about it😜 Seeing Killing Eve is way more worth it than GA😋
When George died I died when Christina left I cried & when Derek died I wanted to stop watching the show...I couldn’t deal with the pain the felt 😭😭
Sarah Drew held an outstanding character, she nailed it, as in life she is warm and compassionate, so to was Dr April Kepner, loved her and all about her performances xx
George's departure was the hardest for me. Iy was sad and hearing the reasons why make it even sadder. He should have been able to come out. It would have made total sense as to why his character failed at so many women he loved.
Poor George I feel terrible for him I love him so much and yes I understand why too but his arc just breaks my heart and yes his death still haunts me in my sleep

Dr McDreamy is the reason I started watching Grey’s. I cried my eyes out when he died. I’ve rewatched the seasons until they kill Derek. I cry every time . The show was never the same without him 💔

George dying was the first thing that made me want to stop watching but the plane crash deaths... pushed me to stop all together. I watch old episodes but I haven’t watched newest ones since then... I did see the Derek death episode which just made me give up on it.

I stopped watching Grey’s Anatomy after Shonda Rhimes very political on the show. That was it for me. Being that she already fired an iconic cast member due to her own personal issues. She also didn’t renew cast members that had been on for years. Shonda Rhimes works for her own personal agenda and doesn’t really seem concerned with the fans. It’s so sad because I absolutely LOVED that show and watched it for years. Shonda Rhimes is the reason I stopped watching Grey’s Anatomy.
After Derek‘s death I only watched it til season 14,then I stopped.Shonda and her crew doesn‘t even have any ideas for the ambulance,it‘s just to boring,and most of the characteres leaves.The new ones aren‘t really that great.🤷♀️Shonda and the crew should have stopped Grey‘s Anatomy right after Derek..🤷♀️ but no..she‘s going on and on..with no really ideas..
I really love and miss Cristina. 🥺 When she's gone, everything changed. But I'm happy that Sandra able to give us the ending that Cristina Yang truly deserves! ❤❤❤

All of the departures were tough. Christina, George, and Derek were the worst. But, that's life. People die, people move on. Alex leaving was particularly hard because he was the last of the original group. And the way he was written out of the show was unsatisfying. None of the characters leaving would make me stop watching the show.
I stopped after each of the main characters died off, Then I’d start over.. then stop and grieve and start again. Like I had to grieve each character that died off. I got attached to them all.
Losing Gorge was the hardest. I loved his character and wished he would have stayed. He was so cute for a guy lol.

I had really wanted to see the show to the end because I really loved it and keep rewatching it but after Christina's departure it just wasn't the same. And then Derek died and I only continued watching because of Alex and Jo. After the way they wrote Alex off I am not returning. I don't have any remaining interest in whatever they do with the rest of the characters. Bailey got her happy ending in my opinion and I am just going to imagine that the storyline's had gone different for the ones who left or were killed off. I am currently rewatching it and seriously considered stopping after Lexie's and Mark's death but I really liked Alex and Jo and wanted to see them end up together so I think I will leave it off just before Christina leaves. And I will probably forever only ever rewatch up until that point
I'm still watching even when the best characters left, I'll watch it until the end.

For me, Mertina was heart and soul of this show. As soon as Christina left it became "just ok". I didn't care for Derek. I'm sad Alex is gone. The only reason I will be still watching, is Bailey. If I would have a daughter I would honestly aim to raise her just like her, she's an icon.
I love the fact that Alex left to live a wonderful life with a alive Isobel & two Kids. That's how I wanted to end with them two. 😂✌️

Only departure I found sad was TR Knight. Wish they would would work on Meredith’s hairstyles and give her a love interest she has chemistry with!
