    Love this! We've been using Heart of Dakota for over 12 years now, and love it. I've used all the guides, and find them to be a very thorough, rich, wholesome way to learn! Enjoy your year! ♥️

      Wow that is great, it’s such a sleeper curriculum it seems. Sounds great though.

    I love this video! We ended up settling on Memoria Press and LOVE it, for a lot of similar reasons actually (and why I’m considering HOD for preschool even tho I plan on doing Memoria for the rest of their schooling - I am generally a bit more classical than CM!). It has soooo many living books and so much great literature. I hate how many curriculums leave out these important stories! As a busy mom I don’t always have the time to supplement. I love using curriculums that include so much goodness, beauty, and truth. ❤

    I love how everything is included and everything is learned from great living books in the Heart of Dakota curriculum! I also love how you can reuse it for younger children each year without having to purchase a lot of consumable resources. Love this video!

      Yes! I felt like we had to invest a lot this year, but next year I should be able to reuse some material and I’ll have three kids grow into the older levels soon enough 🥰

    I’m right there with you on why HOD and we are doing Bigger Hearts for His Glory with extensions for my 11yr old. I’m so excited for this year. We are just starting week 2 and I am in love so far.

      @@AnnieSmithawifenmother well made a small tweak. Haha. We are utilizing HOD for the history part only for now. Science just wasn’t quite what thought.

    Thank you for this! I’m highly considering using HOD for my 7 and 4 year old. You mentioned the use of IEW for one of your children. Curious why the need supplement/replace their language arts? Also loving IEW but I’m concerned I’ll pile on too much on my 2nd grader

      I probably wanted to use up some things that I already owned so they didn’t go to waste. We ended up being unable to use HOD for the rest of this school year because of life circumstances outside of school. I ended up disliking all of the language arts recommendations from HOD though. I tried to use them throughout the year and I probably wouldn’t go back to IEW or Rod & Staff or Fix It Grammar. I have other L.A. that I like better.

    Makes me think of Sally Clarkson’s approach. Love it!!!!
    Sounds like you are really leaning into CM.
    I have had their catalog for years but felt unsure about which guide to get.
    Do you think that you will try this approach without any set curriculum from a company and do it on your own? That sounds amazing to me and very intimidating 😂
    At this point in time for me so much ‘history’ is in question that we are going at that subject in an interesting way.
    I looked into SCM and first grade would have cost me around $1200 for one kid 😳
    How is your phonics going with Abeka?

    • @AnnieSmithawifenmother
      @AnnieSmithawifenmother  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is very Charlotte Mason inspired ❤️ I’ve thought about “creating my own” next year, but the guides are so good I’ll probably stick with them and just tweak things like I do with any curriculum 😆
      Abeka phonics has been amazing! I wish I had tried it years ago.

    How are you running these guides at the same time? Do you check off all the boxes every day?

      I’ve done some more in-depth videos sharing more details if you want to check them out. Also watch my homeschool lesson planning videos for more information because I describe how much I get done each day with the kids. That should explain things easier than I could try typing it here 😆

    What age are you using Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory for?

    • @AnnieSmithawifenmother
      @AnnieSmithawifenmother  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m using it for my 7 year old, but adding my 6 year old and 4 year old most days. So far it has worked and the younger ones want to do it. I suppose if they would rather play I would probably let them.
