David Ogot has had to overcome great obstacles in his journey to sobriety. David started drìnkìng at the áge of 13. This took a toll on him to a point he could not even complete his university studies in India. Four four years he was in India, he never stepped in a classroom. After 27 years of self destruction, David finally found help and has never looked back. He's now keen on using his story to change lives of those struggling with drúgs. Here's his story on @Shared Moments with Justus

I first saw Dave in 1994 at Suntak Estate. Booze flowed to him easy and fast because he was a natural entertainer - highly intelligent and prolific story-teller. I noted him because of his fabulously beautiful wife and also his ability to act out his mother - Mrs. Grace Ogot - constantly adjusting the imaginary headscarf (Grace's 'tiara' was as unique to her as Rogo Manduli's is to her). Dave you look good. You are in a good place. Glory and honour to God for your profound reformation.

At the same time you need to learn as much as you can about alcohol and other drugs how to talk to your children about them early before their uninformed peers mislead them. Have life skill sessions for your kids to teach them how to resist peer pressure. Be open to your children, i.e. approachable so that they feel free to come to first with their concerns and issues first. Where you are unable find someone who can and also learn from them.

When a person starts drinking and using drugs during puberty it changes your brain chemistry because your brain and body are still developing. It is extremely difficult to stop drug habits that start in puberty.
