- Creating an opal crystal ball using a magnificent Lightning Ridge Crystal Opal Nobby. Join me in this captivating journey as I embark on this challenging task. From the outset, I recognised the difficulty of this endeavour, especially considering the surrounding sand and the nature of the rough opal nobby. However, I couldn't resist the temptation to push the boundaries of my skills and knowledge.
During the process, I not only attempt to fashion the opal crystal ball but also engage in cutting various other opal pieces. Together, we will delve into the fascinating world of Australian Opal Stones, exploring their unique qualities and uncovering the secrets of cutting them.
To conclude this video on a high note, I am thrilled to announce a captivating giveaway. Stay tuned until the end, where I reveal the exciting details of this special opportunity.
Come along with me on this enthralling adventure, as we strive to create something truly remarkable and expand our understanding of opal craftsmanship.

I’ll go with the Crystal one this time! Love it. Happy new year beautiful Opal community 💎🪷✨🩷
thank you Happy New Year! @JagirohaArtStudio love crystal opal :)
With so much sand I was expecting you to reveal a golf ball 😂
lol yep i should have made a golf ball i don't know what I was thinking but i will find a piece for a crystal sphere :)
@@AusOpal , why not start off with something easier like a Disco Ball from your chips?
you are really pushing me down the rabbit hole here :) @@Kerrsartisticgifts
You were still able to bring the beauty out of those stones sir, nice 👍
I love the crystal opals, but my favorites are the lightning ridge black opals.
you have expensive taste lol cant beat a great black opal unless it is crystal of exceptional quality maybe it can challenge it :) Thank you
Sand arghhhhh. You didn't cut a sphere,, but you cut a beauty, you made right choice,, it would be a waste of colour for symmetry,
Happy new year to all
Yeah I am disappointed and on a mission to make a sphere just need to find the right piece and I will. Happy NewYear Scott this video will come out to public tomorrow . Thank you so much for your support all the best 2024 here we come
@@AusOpal yeah, you will find a piece that will deliver a sphere.,, it's just time my friend,,
We have nothing to fear but sphere itself.
Best I have managed, so far, is an egg. perhaps a sphere will reveal itself in future.
@@ThatOpalGuy ha ha, fear is the enemy
The sphere must go on
I will I really want to make a sphere and probably use dremel a lot for that tx Scott@@scottpeters5624
Hi Tom, another great video cobber,, a good selection of stones. I really enjoyed watching you cut the crystal not to worry if it is not a crystal ball haha the future is still un told my good friend. Shame the black potch centred in the beautiful dark blue, but you called it well done 👏
Thank You Rob I will find a crystal ball piece in the future for the untold future lol :). I am determined like that can't let go of what i want to do. Plus we need the lotto numbers prediction from the crystal ball. Yes its a shame re the black potch cause that one is so black and I love the blue on black. Despite being the most common colour it is not very common on N1 black with good brightness in my experience. Happy New Year ! :)
It is difficult to pick a favorite, but I will go with crystal as it is easier to attain. my guess it 33 carats. Happy New Year!
Thank You @theopalguy love that btw. Your vids re the water and fire test really enjoyed them. All the best to you Don and Good Luck.
@@AusOpal Thanks, it means a lot to me when other opal creators give support.
we all have different way of delivering information and we learn from each other. I learn already from you and your style is different which is very creative @@ThatOpalGuy
I’m going with 17.7 carats. And I will say that cutting opals vs. other stones I’ve worked with always seems to call for a plan B and a plan C.
thanks @JSGilbert Happy New Year! Good luck your guess locked in
I’m guessing it’s a 28 ct stone happy new year my friend 🎉

Im guessing 43 carats. Happy New year !
Happy New Year to you two. Thanks for all the support. Good luck :)
g'day Mate.
Ruff material should be in gram I think. But it's not a big problem.
Chris
thanks Chris, I tend to agree unless it's obvious what the rough is going to make and you lose little weight and you can say carats and say you will lose 10% of weight in cutting etc . what do you think? I am just exploring this space of the industry
I think it’s 69 carets. Let’s make this a great year. ❤🌹
Happy New Year and good luck with the guess. Thank you for the support
The boulder opal... My guess... 16.2 CT
thank you for watching guess locked in :)
Great Video , Happy New Year , I Guess 46 cts

Brilliant video, shame about some of the results but it happens. My guess is 33.5cts.
thank you so much for the kind words and your time and definitely not a result i was hoping for. your guess is locked it good luck :)
I'll guess that's a 38 caret stone
Good luck and A Happy New Year !
42crt
thank you, Happy New Year and good luck with the guess :)
@@AusOpal happy new year mate
looks like you were closest. It was 41.75 carats
yes Peter is the winner @@ThatOpalGuy
@@AusOpal sweet, that is such a pretty stone.
Cld you pls frame your camera down a bit so it doesn’t focus on the machine’s water flap :)
thank you Ty I will improve for next time. Happy New Year! appreciate the feedback :) I see how annoying that can be now that you mentioned it . got to fix that going forward
Love your vids - opal bliss! Have a happy new year and I look fwd to seeing more of your btful opals ☺️
🧐 55 CTS
good luck with the guess and Happy New Year! thank you for continued support
You "fast forward" through all the good parts!!!
I want to SEE YOU LOOKING AT IT every once in a while. Why skip over that?
I get skipping the cutting because it takes time, but AT LEAST SHOW US the part where you look at it after taking a bit off!
Don't just SKIP EVERYTHING!
Sorry, it just bothered me...
thank you for letting me know, i try to keep the videos not too long and skip different parts on different videos. Some like diff parts of cutting. Good to know some like to see it all and i will cater to that too. Maybe do just one stone from start to finish. Love a feedback it helps me improve thank you so much
@@AusOpal Sorry i was agressive lol!
I think there should be the perfect middle.
Maybe fast forward the parts on the wheel and keep the parts where you focus on it after taking a bit off.... And honestly i watched the part where you were working it on the wheel and it did not take all that long!
There are so many opal channels that show the slow work and trust me compared to them you are NOT slow.
Anyways, thank you for being receptive and i love your content so keep it up!
all good i really appreciate this kind of feedback. I didn't take it as aggressive at all. I love you take your time to comment and thank you for liking the content. I want to improve and deliver a better content a little at the time and this helps a lot :) I am learning this as I go . Have never done anything public or on camera like this . Its a challenge and I am liking it. It clearly shows you care by your comments and that is great@@GOLD_FEVER
Your skill is an inspiration, I like the little colourful one with lots of different colour. I always learn so much from you. I think your camera is out of focus because it is focusing on the top of the guard on your Cab King. If you angle it back more so the guard isn’t in the picture it will focus better. Umm the weight of the Boulder opal Ummm 29.25 ct. Happy New Year. Looking forward to everything that you help with learning about Opal.
thank you for the kind words and support. Yes I only picked that up when Ty mentioned it. You are spot on its frustrating . I will fix it up next Vid. Hard to see when you cutting and filming and once its done you cant go back as the opal is cut. Your guess is locked in good luck :). Happy New Year to you !
I guess 41.75 cts😂🤣
lol perfect score tx for the support
