- Baaba Maal & Mansour Seck - Djam Leelii: The Adventurers
Djam Leelii is the first widely distributed album of Senegalese musician Baaba Maal and guitarist Mansour Seck. Several of the tracks have been released on Baaba Maal's later releases. It was originally recorded in 1984 and released in 1989.
The album was featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Qui connaît l'histoire de cette chanson?
Je viens de la lire sur la Page Facebook "Senegalmetis".
En somme, c'est l'histoire d'un jeune de 24 ans qui s'appelait Baidy Kacce Pam qui etait contre l'administration coloniale. Pour le punir, on lui imposa une amende de deux boeufs a payer mais aussi porter les bagages de l'administrateur colonial tout le long de sa tournee dans une partie du Fouta Tooro. N'en pouvant pas de ce deshonneur, a l'etape du village de Hayre Lao (je suis plus tres sur), Baidy s'empara d'un fusil et tua le colon du nom de Abel Jandet. Il prit la fuite et se refugia dans un village ou un chef traditionnel du nom de Ardo Sidy Abdoul Bah qui serait ami avec les colons le livra a ceux ci avec deux autres personnes accuses a tord ou a raison d'avoir ete de meche avec lui. Il s'agit du Laam Toro Sidiki Sall et de Abdul Kane. Faute de preuves, Kane fut relache. Sidika Sall et Baidy furent tues. Le dernier nomme, fut decapite, son corps fut jete aux crocodiles du fleuve et la tete monte sur un pieu et expose a la vue de la population pour faire peur a ceux qui seraient tente de faire du bruit.
Voila l'histoire! Maintenant, les descendants de Ardo Sidi Abdoul refutent cette version. Moi je ne confirme ou n'infirme rien du tout. Je donne juste l'histoire telle qu'on me l'a raconte.
