I agree! Josh Allen being the entirety of the Bills run game limits this teams full potential. Great O-line+great QB+run game= long term team success!!
Considering the defensive play calling, one of the statements you made prior to this game as an opportunity to try other things is one thing that I took to remember. You said it for the offense, but I think that is what they were doing for the defense which makes sense considering the strengths of Elam and the other substitutes.
I was pretty disappointed with many of the blitzers, they seemed to be content to running into the blocker which did next to nothing except give Maye more time to find a receiver that now had less defenders in coverage.
100% spot on as usual sir, but you forgot to mention the NFL officiating 'let's keep it interesting' calls making sure that NE had every opportunity to keep getting first downs and beat the spread. Especially in that 4th quarter goal line stand.
I'll take the win but I don't feel great about this team. Sure didn't feel like a super bowl team to me. Three huge concerns going forward: (1) Bills defense has trouble stopping the run, getting a consistent pass rush, and getting off the field on 3rd downs. (2) Special teams play. Giving up way too many big plays. Whether it's a long run back, blocked punt, poor coaching, or missed FG. (3) Coaching. Can we really be confident the Bills coaching staff can remain calm, not blue the game, make proper adjustments, etc... in playoff crunch time? I will add that the Bills offense today was very strange. Couldn't do anything passing the ball. Allen looked off, WRs looked covered, no rhythm no flow, etc... Allen couldn't make plays with his legs. The whole day the offense struggled. Nothing looked easy. Not sure why or how the Pats were able to achieve this.
These are 3 things that consistently contribute to the playoff exits. Winning the division is great and fun but there are still demons to exercise here. Josh’s play has a way of covering those things up in the season.
Not encouraging to again see a lack of urgency against a lesser opponent. I don’t need to hear the chiefs have done this in every game. This Bills team should be better than that with playoff seeding in question yet.
@Brianp150H they didn't need to be better, winning by 3 vs winning by 30 still only gets you 1 in the win column and keeps you in that seeding contention
Maybe it’s Babich being new to the lead, but the defense plays so flat against who they feel is lesser competition, or like in Detroit when we had a 3 TD lead so they kind of let up. They need to maintain intensity
Man, you have to remember it was what like nine degrees ? That will freeze your ligaments and highly affect your throws and catches. I remember playing lacrosse at Frontier in those early spring games where it would be 28 degrees and I could barely craddle until I was moving for a half hour. I'm sure that had a major impact on some of these low stats of the Buffalo offense.
Need to put the final nail in the Aaron Rodgers coffin! Let's send that coach killing narcissistic diva into retirement and or to another team. Jets fans wised up way too late.
When Balyon Spector was in the game, New England turned into the dynasty era Pats. They could run the ball, run the ball, and find their tight end on a play action. As SOON as he got injured and Dorian Williams comes into the game, we get our first turnover. Spector is the quite possibly the biggest liability I've seen on a Bills team in quite some time.
I think they didn't want to show there hand and I think it's going to cost Josh the mvp .I think they want the super bowl more but there defense won't let them make it to the big game anyway and I'm a huge Buffalo bills fan for more than 25 years. So I would love to see them win a super bowl.
Agreed. Been a fan since ‘87. I want to see a SB but this defense just ain’t it. The eternal optimists can say otherwise but they just can’t be physically dominate on that side of the ball enough. The best game plan is keeping this defense off the field as much as possible.
It almost looked like groot was trying to get the saftey idk why but almost looked like he was waving guys off. Im not sure if it was that or in the replay looked like he was slipping. Either way i was yelling at the tv
My God, do I hope Beane and Cook find a way to keep him around a long time. I get Thurman Thomas vibes watching him sometimes, and he could definitely be exactly that sort of player to the modern Bills. Glad his dropsies have gotten much better. Would love to keep Davis and Johnson too but Cook have developed into a truly special player
@@michaell5026 I really want to keep him as well, but he would have to take a smaller paycheck in order to stay with the team. I just am terrified about the prospect of losing him!
He's not a free agent until after the 2025 season. Keep him and let him walk for a comp pick next year. Spending free agent level dollars at RB is stupid.
My only prediction for this game was that the Bills were going to mos def play down to their competition. Sure enough. And is there any doubt left that Elam is nothing but a practice squad player…
I have been saying this all season: Bobby Babich is in over his head as a DC. ( it feels like to me when the D gets out of control I think Mc Dermott takes the wheel at least until the D can get it self together). There is virtually NO pass rush from the D. Need to rebuild the D in the off season. The focus has to be on getting premium pass rushers either in the draft or FA. The secondary is very soft and underwhelming. (Elam should have been cut last season) He has been given the resources and all of the time in the world to prove he belongs. He doesn't. Curtis Samuel despite the talent is an overpaid no show to this point. Mack Hollins has been a better acquisition and should be considered in more involvement in the offense. OC isn't taking advantage of Coopers presence while he is still with us. I think that is a bad thing. He can be so impactful but is being under utilized which my Bills are notorious for doing with many players over the years. That has to be addressed in a meaningful and productive way We need to purge the roster of players who are not impactful and cost a lot of capital we can use in other areas. The offense is good with some tweaking can be better. Add another piece. Special teams coach needs to be replaced. End of story. We a got a win nonetheless, happy we did but, how we are doing it has a lot to be desired. Can't win SB's with this kind of defensive play. Lets Go Bills! PS.. I don't fluff or sugar coat anything. I just call it as I see it. We can definitely be better.

The coaching is always a concern. Let’s not even waste time on special teams because why smiley is still employed is mind blowing. Hopefully doesn’t cost another game in the playoffs.
Bills defense awful on third down and soft against the run…. I can already envision the chiefs going on endless drives while Josh can only sit and watch…😢
Very real possibility. Both teams really know each other well. I would expect another close game and giving the Chiefs the edge. They really own the Bills come playoff time.
Nah. The defense was resting lots of banged up players today, and Maye didn't really have any time to breathe. Maye is more mobile than Mahomes, and the Bills are saving up all of their special moves for him. Not to mention everybody eating on offense. We were down several key starters in the first matchup, so the Bills will be in a great position to go on their own endless drives. I really hope that Kansas City needs to play the Ravens in a big time matchup, so that all of their effort goes into countering them rather than planning for the Bills. If they get someone easy I swear the NFL is rigged.
Glad they got the win but it was a frustrating watch. Another flat, slow start, so many penalties, giving up so many 3rd down conversions, the fake punt, coaching wasn't sharp. Thank goodness for James Cook, but why not use him more? But now they are 12-3, Jets are next Go Bills!
We know the STs screw-ups that keep costing the team won't get resolved this season, and maybe not next either, cuz they've been problems since 13 Seconds
I thought or it seemed like the bills had a let down game they came off of 2 games one in LA great weather west coast go back to Buffalo practice once then go indoors to Detroit no weather factor there win a big game against a superbowl contender and then play a game at 4:30 in Buffalo with temps in the teens . May seem like an excuse but I just didn’t see the same intensity as the week before .
I feel that the Bills are just trying to do enough to get the win. Better to not show all your cards before the playoffs where they'll really need it. They won, it was a good game. Wish they would start the run game sooner and lean on it. Hopefully, these last two games, that'll happen. Go Bills
The rush was good … but DB’s were mostly playing off … with tighter coverage, the DL could have made more sacks or disrupted the pass … The DL and Back 7 were not in synch …
I agree with the 'no rhythm on the Offense' observation. You don't need to be a Rocket Scientist, to discern Josh wasn't at the top of his game. What I would like to see, as New England used to do with Tom Brady at times; he would start the game with short passes to start and set up a rhythm and get 'in-sync' with the Receivers. and then gradually go for intermediate and longer passes as the Offense starts to mesh!
The bills defense needs to find ways to get off the field. It's a real problem. We are getting destroyed in time of possession. And winning 3rd down almost doesn't happen. By the way, drake maye looks good. Should be a fun match up for years to come
@adamant5550 Baltimore scares me the most. Our d line and linebackers would probably get run over, and probably couldn't contain jackson when they do pass. Tough, tough match up for us.
@@kentcarmack5879 They already got run over earlier this year. I don't imagine that changing in the postseason. Honestly, this defense is vulnerable against any team, which scares me quite a bit. Unfortunately, I think the defense is going to let us down yet again in the postseason.
Yes. But 6 pre snap penalties are committed, your team wasn’t disciplined or ready to play. A really hard watch for Mafia. I’m not convinced the consistency that is required to win a SB exists on defense, special teams and coaching.
This defense is going is wasting an all world talent in Allen. Beane deserves a lot of the blame for this mediocre D-Line, I hate our defense and have no faith in Babich or McDermott to scheme against Andy Reid in a meaningful game.
As crazy as this sounds but I don’t think they will be able to afford to sign James Cook to an extension with how many people on defense will need to get paid. I really hope I’m wrong.
IF THEY GET BOUNCED AGAIN IN THE POST SEASON , THEY NEED TO FIRE BABACH AND BRING IN JIM SCHWARTZ. THE DEFENSE WAS LIGHTS OUT BACK WHEN HE WAS THE D.C. BACK IN THE DROUGHT YEARS.
The play calling in this game made absolutely zero sense. Why did Brady constantly go away from the run when it was working? Seriously, at times yesterday, the offense felt like we were watching Ken Dorsey 2.0. And why was Babich constantly sending 5-6 man blitzes when the secondary was so undermanned? I just don't understand the game plan.
I do not care what the analytics say. When I have josh allen and my defense sucks early, i am taking that opening kickoff. Why do we insist on giving a weaker team momentum
Division games are tricky, but this Patriot team is not good and they absolutely spanked us. At HOME. We just happened to win somehow, and I'll take it.. but ugh, it doesn't "FEEL" like a win..at all. Sloppy and Ugly play on both sides. Our 3rd and long defense is bad.
Just starting the video but how the Fuk did they just let the patriots go up and down the field like they did… Patriots looked like a playoff team and our defense looked like a 3-11 team at the start. It felt like we got 1 dimensional because the defense shit the bed…
Playing with newer players because of injured more experienced players in such ridiculously cold weather what do you expect!? We won! After getting banged up from the Lions game even the slightest injuries can hurt like hell in frigid cold weather. Being sore like that can be very distracting. Distraction can also contribute to causing penalties because a player might tries to hard to sto their opponents. I was concerned days before the game about that frigid weather and where we were at with new players coming in to fill the gaps.
Can we all talk about Kair elam and his handsy penalty calls? I feel like he has learned nothing while sitting on the bench. He had at least two PI calls that were huge on third downs

Go Bills
The rush was good … but DB’s were mostly playing off … with tighter coverage, the DL could have made more sacks or disrupted the pass …
The DL and Back 7 were not in synch …
I agree with the 'no rhythm on the Offense' observation. You don't need to be a Rocket Scientist, to discern Josh wasn't at the top of his game. What I would like to see, as New England used to do with Tom Brady at times; he would start the game with short passes to start and set up a rhythm and get 'in-sync' with the Receivers. and then gradually go for intermediate and longer passes as the Offense starts to mesh!
Smiley's gotta go. Special Teams are a mess.
The bills defense needs to find ways to get off the field. It's a real problem. We are getting destroyed in time of possession. And winning 3rd down almost doesn't happen. By the way, drake maye looks good. Should be a fun match up for years to come
Can you imagine if we have to play the Bengals in the Wild Card? Burrow will eat this defense alive.
Cut Spector
Based on the last three games, the Bills aren't going anywhere with this defense unless Josh Allen and the Offense are playing lights-out.
Joe, how about Buffalo Joe?
Drake Maye looks like a good QB for New England going forward. He needs better players around him.
Pay James Cook
Officiating was just beyond words. How can it continue to be this bad. It’s a disgrace.
Yes. But 6 pre snap penalties are committed, your team wasn’t disciplined or ready to play.
A really hard watch for Mafia. I’m not convinced the consistency that is required to win a SB exists on defense, special teams and coaching.
Bills win! I died 😂🤣
Defense looks much better with Dorian Williams- he’s the starter going forwards. Even when Matt is healthy
How can Chiefs win this way every week😂
If they start that way in a playoff game its a wrap .. but they wont!
Elam needs to be a healthy scratch please
ABSOLUTELY RELEASE WORTHLESS SPECTOR! YOUR BEST ABILITY IS AVAILABILITY AND SPECTOR IS HARDLY EVER AVAILABLE!
IF THEY GET BOUNCED AGAIN IN THE POST SEASON , THEY NEED TO FIRE BABACH AND BRING IN JIM SCHWARTZ. THE DEFENSE WAS LIGHTS OUT BACK WHEN HE WAS THE D.C. BACK IN THE DROUGHT YEARS.
they shouldnt have completely tossed Williams aside when Milano got healthy
The play calling in this game made absolutely zero sense. Why did Brady constantly go away from the run when it was working? Seriously, at times yesterday, the offense felt like we were watching Ken Dorsey 2.0. And why was Babich constantly sending 5-6 man blitzes when the secondary was so undermanned? I just don't understand the game plan.
I do not care what the analytics say. When I have josh allen and my defense sucks early, i am taking that opening kickoff. Why do we insist on giving a weaker team momentum
Hope Allen didn't lose MVP because of this game
Division games are tricky, but this Patriot team is not good and they absolutely spanked us. At HOME. We just happened to win somehow, and I'll take it.. but ugh, it doesn't "FEEL" like a win..at all. Sloppy and Ugly play on both sides. Our 3rd and long defense is bad.
Sick of this inconsistency with this team. It’s gonna be another one and done in playoffs. They can’t continue to play like this.
Josh Allen didn’t have a completion longer than 17 yards.
Just starting the video but how the Fuk did they just let the patriots go up and down the field like they did… Patriots looked like a playoff team and our defense looked like a 3-11 team at the start.
It felt like we got 1 dimensional because the defense shit the bed…
Can we talk about smiley it’s team for him to go
Playing with newer players because of injured more experienced players in such ridiculously cold weather what do you expect!?
