I'd say Bravely Default 2. In terms of what it offers I think it's one of the best on the system, even if it doesn't quite match the greatness of the 3DS entries.
I actually liked it better than the 3DS entries. However, while I liked the story and the gameplay better, I did enjoy the main cast better in the 3DS entries. But oh yeah, i'd for sure put it on my list!
The Switch's library is absolutely nuts. It's almost caught up to the PS2 in sales and it could argue to have its equal or even greater in its RPG library. Some of my extra recommendations would be Dragon Quest XI S, Pokemon Legends Arceus, NEO The World Ends With You, Blue Reflection Second Light and Shining Resonance Refrain
It's definetly the best Nintendo Console ever since the grand days of the SNES, and these behemothian hights aren't easy to reach. The Switch did it though, at least for me.
I was glad Xeno 3 made the list. Honestly still can’t believe how they made it run as well as they did and the gameplay is honestly incredible. I agree with all of these games. Fantastic games one and all.
Easy answer to that: Monolith Software is one of the few developers that actually CARE to put effort in developing their games, it has shown everybody else that the Switch is very well capable of calculating and displaying pretty heavy stuff, programmingwise. Whenever other developers come up with: "But that system isn't as powerful as a PS4 or Xbox!", yeah, that's true. But it's also NOWHERE NEAR as weak as so many people claim these days. And XC3 is the shining proof to that.
Star Ocean 2 R has been an absolutely joy playing through. Just taking my time, getting all the characters, and loving every second of it. I haven’t been this into a jrpg in a long time. It really is a spectacular experience.
Ten more games, no particular order: Nier Automata, P5R, DQ11, SMT 5, Alliance Alive, Atelier Sophie 2, Crono Chross, Trails of Cold Steel 3 and 4, Bravely Default 2 and Nino Kuni
10 more that could be added (imo) Live A Live Fuga: Melodies of Steel 1 & 2 Bravely Default 2 Shin Megami Tensei 5 Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne HD Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 Remastered Dragon Quest 11 Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Legends of heroes Trials of Cold Steel 3 Persona 5 Royal
I am glad that you decided to go with Xeno blade chronicles 3 instead of the other 2 titles because while I understand that the first game has a huge legacy and I did start with the second game ultimately I definitely enjoyed the third game way more than the other 2. Granted I have my issues with some of the story beats when thinking about it more critically and the ending is still the biggest middle finger I ever had until the DLC the last one came out to try to fix everything, but it didn't really matter because unlike the second game, I was able to get everyone up to at least level 90 before I had to stop and I do enjoy the cast way more. To this day I still talk about the cast of characters because of how well done they were. The other picks were all pretty solid though most of them were from games that I already have on my PS4 namely star ocean second story R which I have been enjoying in conjunction with the beyond the dawn DLC. I'm already on where the second disk would normally be and I can't stop playing and I already discovered a good place to do some grinding and even then thanks to the new game plus it's gonna be even more fun to go back and try to get certain characters I didn't get in previous runs. Same goes for YS8 as I still need to go back and play through some More of that in my hard mode Run in new game plus while Three Houses is STILL my prefered Fire Emblem game and was the time where the series FULLY made me invested and Trails of Mana remake, while it is a FAITHFUL remake, it at least has a good amount of amount of new to warrent the lack of mutliplayer along with the quality of life improvements...... Glaring at the Super Mario RPG remake that just came out. Overall a pretty solid list of switch games even though a good chunk of them I pretty much skipped but the ones that were mentioned were definitely ones that I played and still have intention of playing. Great job Alex!
I’m trying very hard to finish the first one…it’s tough and I die a lot the gameplay is super frustrating but the story and music is so amazing…is octo 2 worth it? I want to praise this series like everyone else seems to but I’m just not in love with the first one.
@@Yourhomeboy_evan As far as I heard it's pretty much more of the same but with some tweaks to gameplay and balancing. And this time the party interacts way more with each other. At least that's why I heard, I own it too but still haven't played it due to the same problem you have :D
Switch is PACKED with excellent JRPG's. You could easily make 5 more of these videos and still not cover everything. Gong with a recent release, Super Mario RPG is a MUST own.
I played 13 Sentinels on PS4 and LOVED that game! It has a great story, fantastic characters, and Vanillaware's signature gorgeous art style. But, I'm just not a Switch user...I've tried, I don't like its controls and, besides, my kids monopolize it. I've only bought one game for myself on the Switch, Fire Emblem Three Houses. Twice now I've started that game and just couldn't get into it. I know there's a ton of jrpgs that could go on this list, but a little surprised not to see SMT V, especially since the only way to play it is on Switch!
The only people chasing a sugary good ending in Fire Emblem Three houses are those that didn't pick Golden Deer the first time. I did Golden Deer first and when I played Black Eagle and Blue Lion I thought "Oh these are the bad endings and Golden Deer was the good ending."
Interested in trying out the Trails games at some point but concerned about going in order. If I did start with Trails from Zero where would i go from there?
I've been trying so hard to like Trails From Zero, but I'm just not a fan of having the same 4 party members through the entire game (specially without something like a class/job system to at least change things up a bit)
Has anyone played Persona 5 on the Switch? I have it on PS5 and it looks awesome, and it's such a long game that I would love to play it on the go. But I saw some comparison videos and the graphics on the switch seem so blurry.... I wonder if it's a worthy trade-off
It does not look good portable at all. At least on the regular switch. Oled might be a different story. But it’s quite blurry on an original switch. I have the v1 switch. It’s good docked though which is where I play mostly anyway.

I couldn’t connect to the characters in 2. Loved bravely default and bravely second but something about 2 just didn’t click with me.

If you had 10 ten more game I would definitely add the Atelier Ryza series, Bravely Default 2 and Monster hunter stories: Wings of Ruin
SMT 5 was the switch exclusive that convinced me to pick one up. Since I primarily play on PC, I haven't touched it much since.
Octopath II is absolutely my GOTY

I loved Fire Emblem 3 houses but Fire Emblem Engage us my fav in the series! Don’t sleep on it folks it’s a hit.
Xenoblade Chronicles Future Redeemed was one of the best DLC I've ever played
10 more that could be added (imo)
Live A Live
Fuga: Melodies of Steel 1 & 2
Bravely Default 2
Shin Megami Tensei 5
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne HD
Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 Remastered
Dragon Quest 11
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Legends of heroes Trials of Cold Steel 3
Persona 5 Royal
Had no idea Baten Kaitos got remastered on switch till I read this comment. Awesome!
Oh my bad

I own a lot of the ateliers games. But Ryza 2 was the best one in the whole series and I was addicted to solving those riddles
Am I the only one who loved the raids in Ys VIII?
Astral Chain should have been on the list

How is DQ 11 not on this list?! For shame!! 😅
It's "10 Awesome Switch JRPGs", not "Top 10 Awesome Switch JRPGs". It'll be alright.
one day i will get trails zero and maybe go back to 3 houses. dropped due to that damn school nonsense. but should have pushed through till end

Hi Alex the 3 best games of the year IMHO are:
1. Fate Samurai Remnant.
2. Hogwarts Legacy.
3. Star Ocean 2 R.
