Holy crap, Michael being in the scene when we see Corey is alive after falling from the overpass is on the level of background appearances in the original movie. I usually glimpse things like that right away due to years of training on Hitchcock cameos, but I totally missed this one.
I missed it the first time I saw the movie.... But then I read or saw somewhere about the background appearance. So when i went to go see it a second time, I payed VERY close attention to the scene. I did see him that time, but it's such a quick, fleeting glimpse of him in the far right part of the shot that if you're not looking for him, it is SO easy to miss.
One thing I have yet to see anyone mention and maybe it meant nothing to most people but at the end of every Halloween movie we can hear Michael breathing. At the end of Ends we hear nothing. Which is noteworthy imo.
If you pay attention, you will notice that Corey Cunningham looks like 6-year old Michael Myers from Halloween 1978. I feel like his casting was deliberate to mirror Michael Myers.
I thought it was interesting how when Corey popped out from behind Laurie's right shoulder in her yard and startled her, it mimicked exactly how Michael popped out from behind Karen's right shoulder at the end of Kills.
You did miss one thing in Halloween Ends. In the closing moments as we get the montage of the different rooms in Laurie's house, you can faintly hear the sound of breathing before Don't Fear the Reaper plays.

It's also safe to say that no one will accept anyone else wearing the Modified Shatner Mask, and there's no way you can explain how someone can survive going through an Industrial Shredder; so, a New Timeline it is, hopefully one without Laurie Strode as that character deserves a retirement.
This "TYM" makes me appreciate the movie more, and I wasn't a hater of the movie to begin with. There were things I respected, and wanted to understand more of. This video does a excellent job understanding the ideas behind the "end" product.

Something you probably didn't notice is that Corey's scarecrow mask is a nod to Michael's original name "The Shape". He resembles a scarecrow in how he almost appears to display a fake embodiment of a human, in the same way a scarecrow does. It really honors his ambigous nature.
There are a few other books on Halloween/Michael Myers that are not cannon but are a good read. I had one of them and it was called Halloween The Mad House, it has all the Myers nuances that you see in the films. The Mad House is about a group of teenagers who decide to go and spend the night at the now abandoned Smithsgrove Mental Hospital. They don’t believe that Myers exists anymore so they feel safe going there, unfortunately for them, Myers has been living there. 🤘👽👽👽
Say why you want about this film but the fact that Lori not only have several fatal wounds to Michael, including slicing his wrists but also chains the body to the roof of the car to prevent any possible escape before feeding the corpse into a metal shredder as the ultimate double tap was brilliant.
You're very close at a fine deduction that is hinted through all the movies. The Shape as a paranormal entity is weakened by iron and it's variations have various long or short term effect on his body and able to rejuvenate or heal fully. As massively injured as he was, chaining him to the metal roof impedes that regenerating enough for the final metal crusher end.
I knew that some people weren't going to like this movie but I did and WANTED Lori to be the person to take him down and I wanted her to live. Some really wanted her to die taking him with her and I get it but for me the idea that after all the horror a woman without supernatural powers could survive and have the potential for a happy life is more satisfying. I really like H2O and HATED when they undid that ending making her die and having some chump with no history with Michael take him down. HATED it. I hope if they do more with this franchise they start over and leave this ending be. Lori Strode earned peace and maybe going to Japan for the cherry blossoms.
For those complaining that the battle between Michael and Laurie was short, the battle where they trap Michael in the trap took around a minute while the Ends battle was around 2 minutes
One small mistake…The homeless man that Corey first kills was named “Nelson Christopher” a tribute to Chris Nelson Im sure, but he is played by an actor named Blaque Fowler…Otherwise, another AMAZING video!! I loved every minute of it and I am always so impressed by your work!
Another commonality between Halloween and the original Scream is Skeet Ulrich's character's last name is Loomis. Billy Loomis. And a nice homage in Halloween H20 was the cameo by Janet Leigh, who tells Laurie that since it's Halloween 'We're all entitled to one good scare'. And she's driving the same type of car she drove in Psycho.
It isn't just the same type of car Janet Leigh drove in Psycho - it is identical. Same paint job and same license plate number. Also, Marion Crane's (Janet Leigh's character) boyfriend's name in Psycho is Sam Loomis, which is where Dr. Loomis gets his name. Last fun fact - Psycho was made in 1960, the original Halloween in 1978 and the original Scream in 1996. There are 18 year intervals between the movies.
This is a great breakdown not only of what was missed but the actual reason behind Ends. I personally really enjoyed Ends as i got what they where trying to do and enjoyed what they achieved with it. I agree. I’ve noticed this a lot. People seem to like terminator salvation nowadays. Same with predators, since the predator people like the previous film more. I think the masses just love to hate everything new. Personally, I really like t4 and predator 3. The internet has spoiled a lot of things. It’s ok to enjoy new media. A lot of us grew up with films already released, times change, so should we. Rewatch ability was easy when we was young. We are old now. If we was still kids we would probably love everything. Halloween resurrection was one of the first films I realised was shit. I’m nearly 40 now and prefer it over the Rob zombie films.

Halloween Ends some people missed the idea that this one was more about Laurie Strode's journey to find peace and redemption, it's not about Michael as much. By this point, it doesn't matter what his motivations are or where he draws his power from, but I personally would have liked to have seen that this one.. The novelization of the 1978 original movie has a most effective prologue in it set thousands of years earlier in ancient pagan Celtic Druid northern Ireland which partly explains why Michael Myers does what he does. Perhaps in the upcoming Peacock streaming channel this October they will look into that in the upcoming series, "Haddonfield"....
Doug Mulaney's father was Conrad Mulaney, Lonnie Elam's friend whom he had stolen the candy from in 1978. It's mentioned in the novelization before Doug's death
Many people complain about how Michael was so weak in this movie. This is because we see briefly on a newspaper that the Myers house was demolished shortly after the events of Kills. The house was a vital part of Michael's "routine" as he would ALWAYS return there after he killed. It was his "home base" of sorts which I think is what kept him so powerful. Kinda like how in minecraft bedwars where when your bed is destroyed, you are subseptible to being killed permanently. Now that the house is gone, Michael has made the sewers his new "home base", but the power that his house gave him is no longer there and he just gets weaker and weaker without its influence.
Green, who co-wrote all three films in the trilogy, says he doesn't see the character as supernatural. At the same time, he likes keeping it ambiguous enough to have fans continuing the debate, even if he personally just feels Michael is one particularly tough mass murderer. "I mean, I’m just not the guy for that, but when I would show early cuts of the movie to people, sometimes they’d be like, 'Oh, this is a transference of evil.' You know these things that you’re like, 'No, not literally.' I mean, the answer is yes and no. Sure it is if that’s what you see in it. I love that. I love interpretation. Cz is a Legend. All of your videos are so entertaining and enjoyable to watch. I happen to love this movie alot. I can understand why people dislike it but it certainly doesn't deserve the hate it gets. The moral of the story is that anyone at anytime can be the shape. 🔪
I don't know why, but the couple who were shot dead in their Jeep during the opening of the film really reminded me of Bonnie & Clyde, which was something referenced to a lot during 2018. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were killed by a firing squad while they were in their car. That couple probably wasn't killed by a "firing squad", but they died together, side by side in their car. Allyson and Cameron were a gender swapped Bonnie & Clyde, representing the reversed roles of Michael and Laurie during this trilogy. I also think Allyson and Corey represent a sort of modern version of Bonnie & Clyde as well as a mixture of Romeo & Juliet.
Did anyone notice the 3 Halloween Films BlumHouse did are direct recreations of how the original 3 Halloween films were? Evidence : Halloween 2018 & 1979 both explains Michael’s escape and stalks Laurie Halloween Kills and Halloween 2 both take place in the hospital and both take place on the same night as the previous film. Halloween Ends and Halloween SOTW both take on the super natural aspect about the “curse” being able to be passed through different people.

While you do make a good point about Don't Fear the Reaper being overused in movies and TV shows, I like to imagine the lyrics are supposed to be about Michael in this movie, with him being the reaper, but that Haddonfield no longer has to fear him since he's dead. Not only that, but it's also a fun nod to the original Halloween since it was playing on the radio when Laurie and Annie were smoking a joint in the car
Right before the release some people were talking about the connection to Christine. This is the first that I have seen someone follow through and explain it.
Thank you for doing this. I noticed when I watched this movie there were so many nods to all the movies before that it blew my mind.. but the fact that the whole plot resembles Christine is genius.. because it's basically them honoring all of Carpenter's work..
Awesome video. More than I could've definitely pointed out lol. One thing I noticed is in the beginning after Corey accidentally kills Jeremy, it shows a shot of Corey looking down from the top stairs railing in a similar angle like how we always see that shot of the 78 Myers looking down from the stairs holding his knife. Makes perfect sense about the season of the witch style font when you mention the two movies before this one, but I also thought they did that because they were taking it in a different direction like how season of the witch did. This is definitely a Christine remake by far. I'm one of the people that liked this movie. Not close to perfect, but I definitely enjoyed it for sure to the point of getting it.
everyone out here complaining about this movie. it did what it needed to do. it wasn’t an awful movie but we all know it’s never gonna live up to the hype of the other movies. nothing will compare to the first movie. at least the finished the franchise in a satisfying way. i think it’s overhated for doing something most of the movies could not. like yes i get if you don’t like it but it’s gonna go down in history whether you like it or not. it was a smash in the box office and is still doing good. so everyone chill out on this movie please.
People underestimate the care that was put into this movie. I love it. It's fun. I had fun watching it and I'm not gonna deny that just because it wasn't what I expected. There was no distinction between Michael and Corey when Corey was wearing his mask. He moved like Michael and acted like him. It perfectly illustrates that the Shape is not a man (Michael) it is a persona, an identity. That is what Carpenter originally wanted, not a generic slasher. If you look at Ends as a follow up to 1978 and its themes and not a Friday the 13th slasher knock off then the movie fits like a butcher knife in its block.

The montage shots at the closing of "Ends" weren't only a callback.They were also a mirror. In the original film, the short sequence happens at night, whereas the 2022 end scene happens in mid-daylight. It's symbolic of how Michael's evil, specifically, has been cleansed from the lives of the main characters, as well as from Haddonfield, itself. (9/3/2023)
This movie could have worked if we had a movie between this and kills. There were so many drastic changes to the characters and town that either didnt make sense or were just kind of glossed over. Great video as always!
I think when it says that Laurie was the only sole survivor, maybe they meant that Michael was targeting teenagers purposely, with the exception of the truck guy for his jumpsuit, and Laurie is the only teen that got away, maybe he wasn’t even targeting loomis or the kids 🤷🏽♂️
This was Halloween trying to be a nightmare on elm street part 2 , or the Friday the 13th when Jarvis was supposed to be taking over the role of killer .

One thing that does have some fun lore is the Halloween Ends novel were it expands on the aftermath of Kills and explains some backstory to the hobo, Corey, and Michael's absence during the 4 year time skip. I really liked how David Gordon Green and Danny McBride started their trilogy after the first film forty years later. I thought that was such a great idea rather than remake the first. They started "Halloween 2018" after the events of the original in 1977. Such a great idea. As it still stands the rest of time so greatly.
I honestly loved this film, we needed something different and David delivered. Seeing Michael have actual human responses to what he went through in 2018 and Kills while keeping that Shape identity was perfect. Loved seeing Laurie get a happy ending although the ending in the novel is also cool. I'd love to see a video based on the three novels when you get the time.

Your best work!! A truly great watch. They're never gonna come close to touching the class of the OG, but Ends is certainly the most interesting of the DGG trilogy.
@AlexanderNottingham I disagree. I think DGG's trilogy has been disappointing overall. Some nice touches here and there, but as films, they don't remotely have the vibe of Carpenter's OG to me. Ends, out of DGG's films, has more going on than the other two. As Myers fans, we may not agree with what he's done, but its the most interesting of his three for me. I largely think this as I haven't liked the last two. Halloween (2018) is one of the most frustrating films Ive seen. It had the potential to be great. But DGG humanised Myers far too much etc etc. I knew then and there that he was the wrong guy for these movies. My enjoyment of Ends, (though its nothing more than a 3/5 film at best), came from the lowest of expectations as well as also knowing what to expect going in. I think that overall, the folks who are most annoyed at this film, are those who didn't know what was coming.

You pointed out some epic easter egss and HOLY CRAP I missed Michael in the background of that scene with him after he was tossed off the bridge! One thing all the films do well is homages and easter eggs... so im not surprised to see so many goodies hidden in this film... I noticed the original pumpkin design and the choice of wardrobe which mirrored the first film which was a nice touch. I never thought about 'Ends' being a literal homage to CHRISTINE, but bro.... that just makes waaaaaaay to much sense. Maybe the reason I hate this movie so much? I LOVE Christine! Its one of the greatest horror classics ever made! Right up there with Halloween 78' but Id never imagine a 'mash up' of the two plotlines... Id have never crossed those two over plot-wise. I dunno, I guess I'll keep best 2 outta 3 in this trilogy lol. Great video though! Im subbing for more!

One thing I noticed is that Cory has a cut on his right cheek just under his eye, from when he was beat up. Michael Myers has a wound in the same part of his mask from where a bullet grazed him in Halloween 2018.
Jeremy was gonna be the next Michael as if you notice he was good at doing the jump scares and his mother said he was hearing voices too like Michael as a kid but Corey killed him (by accident) and took his place

This is a great breakdown not only of what was missed but the actual reason behind Ends. I personally really enjoyed Ends as i got what they where trying to do and enjoyed what they achieved with it. I agree. I’ve noticed this a lot. People seem to like terminator salvation nowadays. Same with predators, since the predator people like the previous film more. I think the masses just love to hate everything new. Personally, I really like t4 and predator 3. The internet has spoiled a lot of things. It’s ok to enjoy new media. A lot of us grew up with films already released, times change, so should we. Rewatch ability was easy when we was young. We are old now. If we was still kids we would probably love everything. Halloween resurrection was one of the first films I realised was shit. I’m nearly 40 now and prefer it over the Rob zombie films.

Halloween Ends some people missed the idea that this one was more about Laurie Strode's journey to find peace and redemption, it's not about Michael as much. By this point, it doesn't matter what his motivations are or where he draws his power from, but I personally would have liked to have seen that this one.. The novelization of the 1978 original movie has a most effective prologue in it set thousands of years earlier in ancient pagan Celtic Druid northern Ireland which partly explains why Michael Myers does what he does. Perhaps in the upcoming Peacock streaming channel this October they will look into that in the upcoming series, "Haddonfield"....
Doug Mulaney's father was Conrad Mulaney, Lonnie Elam's friend whom he had stolen the candy from in 1978. It's mentioned in the novelization before Doug's death
Many people complain about how Michael was so weak in this movie. This is because we see briefly on a newspaper that the Myers house was demolished shortly after the events of Kills. The house was a vital part of Michael's "routine" as he would ALWAYS return there after he killed. It was his "home base" of sorts which I think is what kept him so powerful. Kinda like how in minecraft bedwars where when your bed is destroyed, you are subseptible to being killed permanently. Now that the house is gone, Michael has made the sewers his new "home base", but the power that his house gave him is no longer there and he just gets weaker and weaker without its influence.
Green, who co-wrote all three films in the trilogy, says he doesn't see the character as supernatural. At the same time, he likes keeping it ambiguous enough to have fans continuing the debate, even if he personally just feels Michael is one particularly tough mass murderer.
"I mean, I’m just not the guy for that, but when I would show early cuts of the movie to people, sometimes they’d be like, 'Oh, this is a transference of evil.' You know these things that you’re like, 'No, not literally.' I mean, the answer is yes and no. Sure it is if that’s what you see in it. I love that. I love interpretation. In fact, I think the Halloween franchise in a lot of senses thrives on ambiguity. Michael Myers’ background, for example. I like the fact that there are those conversations. I don’t think he does anything that’s supernatural. I just think he does things that are spectacular and resilient."

I don't know why, but the couple who were shot dead in their Jeep during the opening of the film really reminded me of Bonnie & Clyde, which was something referenced to a lot during 2018. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were killed by a firing squad while they were in their car. That couple probably wasn't killed by a "firing squad", but they died together, side by side in their car. Allyson and Cameron were a gender swapped Bonnie & Clyde, representing the reversed roles of Michael and Laurie during this trilogy. I also think Allyson and Corey represent a sort of modern version of Bonnie & Clyde as well as a mixture of Romeo & Juliet.

In the new film just a mask Michael isn't supernatural, just old man who kills
In the original films Tommy is protecting the niece of Laurie first child
Brand new film there's no child and Tommy sitting in the town centre like nothing happened
In the original films Laurel has 2nd kid boy
The new films there's no mention of her son , she's only one child
And so on

While you do make a good point about Don't Fear the Reaper being overused in movies and TV shows, I like to imagine the lyrics are supposed to be about Michael in this movie, with him being the reaper, but that Haddonfield no longer has to fear him since he's dead. Not only that, but it's also a fun nod to the original Halloween since it was playing on the radio when Laurie and Annie were smoking a joint in the car
It is also the theme for Halloween ends as Halloween ends has a darker theme to it and isn't having all the craze kills or 2018 did.
Right before the release some people were talking about the connection to Christine. This is the first that I have seen someone follow through and explain it.
I loved how Corey's eyes look so black in the closeup of his face while he's riding the motorcycle with Allyson after he has become evil.

Awesome video. More than I could've definitely pointed out lol. One thing I noticed is in the beginning after Corey accidentally kills Jeremy, it shows a shot of Corey looking down from the top stairs railing in a similar angle like how we always see that shot of the 78 Myers looking down from the stairs holding his knife. Makes perfect sense about the season of the witch style font when you mention the two movies before this one, but I also thought they did that because they were taking it in a different direction like how season of the witch did. This is definitely a Christine remake by far. I'm one of the people that liked this movie. Not close to perfect, but I definitely enjoyed it for sure to the point of getting it.

everyone out here complaining about this movie. it did what it needed to do. it wasn’t an awful movie but we all know it’s never gonna live up to the hype of the other movies. nothing will compare to the first movie. at least the finished the franchise in a satisfying way. i think it’s overhated for doing something most of the movies could not. like yes i get if you don’t like it but it’s gonna go down in history whether you like it or not. it was a smash in the box office and is still doing good. so everyone chill out on this movie please.
People underestimate the care that was put into this movie. I love it. It's fun. I had fun watching it and I'm not gonna deny that just because it wasn't what I expected. There was no distinction between Michael and Corey when Corey was wearing his mask. He moved like Michael and acted like him. It perfectly illustrates that the Shape is not a man (Michael) it is a persona, an identity. That is what Carpenter originally wanted, not a generic slasher. If you look at Ends as a follow up to 1978 and its themes and not a Friday the 13th slasher knock off then the movie fits like a butcher knife in its block.
This movie is genius man. I loved it. I wish people can get over the fact that it’s not a traditional Halloween movie.

Loved this video. But you missed the fact that the microwave in the final battle between Laurie and Michael counts down from 31.
The montage shots at the closing of "Ends" weren't only a callback.They were also a mirror. In the original film, the short sequence happens at night, whereas the 2022 end scene happens in mid-daylight. It's symbolic of how Michael's evil, specifically, has been cleansed from the lives of the main characters, as well as from Haddonfield, itself. (9/3/2023)
This movie could have worked if we had a movie between this and kills. There were so many drastic changes to the characters and town that either didnt make sense or were just kind of glossed over. Great video as always!
I think when it says that Laurie was the only sole survivor, maybe they meant that Michael was targeting teenagers purposely, with the exception of the truck guy for his jumpsuit, and Laurie is the only teen that got away, maybe he wasn’t even targeting loomis or the kids 🤷🏽♂️

When he tells about the pattern the trilogy ressembles, the movies even form a pattern in being exactly what they reassemble, Halloween Ends, reassembling Halloween III, it focuses on an entirely different killer, ressembling the anthology route Halloween III took but when still involving Michael

Another parallel between Michael and Corey is that Corey gets an injury to his left hand and puts bandaging over it, just like Michael
Also, Corey during the opening of Ends is 21 years old which is the same age Michael was during the events of 1978 Halloween.
One thing that does have some fun lore is the Halloween Ends novel were it expands on the aftermath of Kills and explains some backstory to the hobo, Corey, and Michael's absence during the 4 year time skip.

I really liked how David Gordon Green and Danny McBride started their trilogy after the first film forty years later. I thought that was such a great idea rather than remake the first. They started "Halloween 2018" after the events of the original in 1977. Such a great idea. As it still stands the rest of time so greatly.
I honestly loved this film, we needed something different and David delivered. Seeing Michael have actual human responses to what he went through in 2018 and Kills while keeping that Shape identity was perfect. Loved seeing Laurie get a happy ending although the ending in the novel is also cool. I'd love to see a video based on the three novels when you get the time.

Your best work!! A truly great watch. They're never gonna come close to touching the class of the OG, but Ends is certainly the most interesting of the DGG trilogy.
@AlexanderNottingham I disagree. I think DGG's trilogy has been disappointing overall. Some nice touches here and there, but as films, they don't remotely have the vibe of Carpenter's OG to me. Ends, out of DGG's films, has more going on than the other two. As Myers fans, we may not agree with what he's done, but its the most interesting of his three for me. I largely think this as I haven't liked the last two. Halloween (2018) is one of the most frustrating films Ive seen. It had the potential to be great. But DGG humanised Myers far too much etc etc. I knew then and there that he was the wrong guy for these movies. My enjoyment of Ends, (though its nothing more than a 3/5 film at best), came from the lowest of expectations as well as also knowing what to expect going in. I think that overall, the folks who are most annoyed at this film, are those who didn't know what was coming.
I give this video a thumbs UP and the movie a thumbs DOWN lol XD I dunno, ive tried and tried but I just CANT get myself to be as enthusiastic about 'Ends' as I can the other (even cheesier) entries in the franchise. You pointed out some epic easter egss and HOLY CRAP I missed Michael in the background of that scene with him after he was tossed off the bridge! One thing all the films do well is homages and easter eggs... so im not surprised to see so many goodies hidden in this film... I noticed the original pumpkin design and the choice of wardrobe which mirrored the first film which was a nice touch. I never thought about 'Ends' being a literal homage to CHRISTINE, but bro.... that just makes waaaaaaay to much sense. Maybe the reason I hate this movie so much? I LOVE Christine! Its one of the greatest horror classics ever made! Right up there with Halloween 78' but Id never imagine a 'mash up' of the two plotlines... Id have never crossed those two over plot-wise. I dunno, I guess I'll keep best 2 outta 3 in this trilogy lol. Great video though! Im subbing for more!

One thing I noticed is that Cory has a cut on his right cheek just under his eye, from when he was beat up. Michael Myers has a wound in the same part of his mask from where a bullet grazed him in Halloween 2018.
