Adobe has made a game-changing move with Photoshop Elements 2025, and Ive got all the details.
As of this release, Adobe is shifting from a perpetual license to a three-year license model, sparking quite a bit of discussion. This means you'll need to buy the newest version of Photoshop Elements every three years to keep using the software, though the Organizer will remain accessible indefinitely.
Don't worry, I'll still cover all the new features including:
✨ AI assisted Remove Object Tool
✨ Depth of Field guided edit
✨Combine Photos guided edit
✨Change Object Color (scrapbookers rejoice)
✨ More new quick actions in the Quick Edit Workspace
I'm curious, have you tried opening older versions like Photoshop Elements 15 or 2017 recently?
Leave a comment below and let me know if they're still working for you.

Are Adobe in self destruct mode ?
Let's hope not!
It seems to me as if Adobe wants to get rid of Elements. The reasons are, that Elements is much cheaper to buy after a short time. Second, many users buy the latest version too rarely. Adobe probably does not like that. The AI justifications are ridiculous. A term that has become inflated these days. I have, after many years, switched to Affinity and do not regret a second of it. Nevertheless, thank you very much for your video.
I am really sad/mad they decided to make 2025 a three year limited License, that LOCKS YOU OUT from using the program once the three years are up.
Being able to keep using the organizer is like a used car salesman graciously allowing you to continue to use the ashtray of your car but not the car itself.
The first thing I do, when installing Elements anyway, is to turn off / get rid of everything Organizer related as much as possible. I don't care for that thing, nor any cloud sync, I have more potent cloud storage already and would much rather get Photoshop & Premiere Elements without it to begin with.
In the end the main (only) reason for me to get Elements up to now was to get a permanent license, otherwise I would use full Photoshop anyway.
I have used version 8, then 14 and currently 19. I was looking forward to get 25, moving 19 onto my old system as a fallback, but with this decision I have started looking for an alternative instead.
I would be fine with them locking out the Server-side AI-Features after, say 5 years or so, since that causes ongoing expenses, but locking the whole suite just is not acceptable.
Thanks for your feedback, for me Organizer is at least 50% of the reason I use PSE, but not everytone finds it useful. The idea of locking out server side features is an interesting one.
I'm a current Elements 15 user so checked after viewing your video and found my E15 still works. I was not aware that Adobe checks my credentials each time I use their programs, so that was news to me. I might use Element 15 once every few months so my current perpetual licence suits my requirements. I was think after 10 years I might upgrade but the new licencing will make me think again. A 3 year licence would be reasonable for someone using Elements regularly, but not for the occasional user like myself. Thanks for the excellent video and heads up.
Thanks Neil for checking and letting me know. I agree, if you use rarely use the program, the 3 year license doesn't really benefit you at all.
Why does Adobe treats its fan users like this? Seriously Adobe you are shooting at ur own feet.
There are 20+ versions of Photoshop Elements out there so I guess they had to draw the line somewhere. Adobe can't always support old software in a changing tech landscape.
I don't agree
These programs were not purchased with an expiration date.
As far as drawing the line, they DO have the money to keep up with their success
@@Digitalscrapbookinghq This has nothing to do with support Photoshop CS2 Still works on windows 11. yes almost 20years later. also even if it didn't work on the new version of windows why not just let them use it on windows 10 I still had windows 7 on one of my production computers so that i could run older apps. Plain and simple bad move by Adobe
I’ve been using Elements for many years, and upgrade from time to time, but not happy with being FORCED to upgrade at set points. Bye Bye Adobe
👋👋👋👋
I’m currently testing Affinity but was considering to upgrade my old version of Elements. Adobe made my decision to move on easy. Greed is never a good councilor.
Let me know how you like Affinity
Thanks for the video. ik can only see on the Adobe site my licenses until version 2021. I have version 14 on my computer, but the editor doesn't work anymore. That's very strange because when i bought it the period of use was for always. (Sorry if my english is not correct I am from the Netherlands.)
Yes, that makes sense. You can see more license keys here: account.adobe.com/products - mine goes back to 2007
I'm still using PSE 2021, and Adobe won't be getting any more money from me.
Fair enough!
Thnx for the review. So if I buy elements 2024 I have also the AI and I have it for life..? And will I miss a lot with 2025? Regards, Ron
Photoshop Elements 2024 doesn't support any of the new features I show in the video - check out digitalscrapbookinghq.com/pse2024review to see what PSE2024 includes
I'm using Elements 2018 on rare occasion. I won't be upgrading, seems Adobe is making it easy for people to leave and use other software by squeezing every nickel than can out of their customers.
Time will tell if this move backfires.
I shoot lots of headshots. Can any/many of these features help me edit one photo for many things like blemishes, acne, cleaning stray hair, teeth, eyes, overall skin tones, body blemishes, etc. and batch to all the other photos from the same shoot?
Absolutely! Check out my video about the Smart Brush portrait effects for all that kind of thing. th-cam.com/video/ngB-6NdF1tw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qSSn7dh3QMcX_21x You can batch edit tones in Organizer, byt the rest of it will need to be done one by one.
I totally misunderstood this. I had no idea the plan was to deactivate after 3 years. This was always a you own it forever. I have 2024 and will not upgrade. If it stops working then I'm done. I use Photoshop and the cloud and could live without it but wow.
Yes, you've got it. You'll be able to use PSE2025 for just 3 years
I'm still using Photoshop Elements 15, I purchased it in 2016. But from the Microsoft Store, not directly from Adobe. It still works and not bloated like newer versions. But the 3-year licence is an absolute put-off. As a last resort I may upgrade to PE 2024, however if Adobe may revoke all access to previous versions, that might be wasted money at this point.
Nice work! You have definitely saved a lot of money over the years!
Had considered replacing photoshop sub with elements, but with the removal of a perpetual license I wont be doing that either. Cancelled.
It works out to only $2.75/m over three years, even less if you upgrade, so it’s still a lot less than $10/m for the Adobe photography plan. But i understand the disappointment.
use Serif affinity just as good and last forever
So for 3 years I will be able to get ps3 2026 and 2027 in one license?
Nope, it’s not a subscription- it’s a three year license. So you just get to use PSE2025 for three years.
@@Digitalscrapbookinghq for some people nothing changes, they upgrade every year, i hope they will keep the discount.
Sad , i keep my 2023 , and continue whit my new Affinity.
I buy it for a reason that I not must pay again and again 3years intervals.

All the best with Affinity
Your videos are excellent, sadly, Adobe is continuing with its controversial moves... I am moving to Affinity products. However, I am not a scrapbooker like most of your subscribers, I guess. Not sure what alternatives these people have, but Adobe does not look to me like a trustable company, especially after watching more about their questionable business practices, etc.
I feel that many people are disappointed by the change. The pull of feeling you own the software is strong. But realistically any time the technology changes we may not be able to use old software anyway. Before the subscription model for Adobe CC existed Adobe was actually investigate for price gouging in Australia - Photoshop used to over $3000 of dollars Australian in 2013. So to be fair things have improved!
Also your channel is lovely! I play piano too, but not quite at that level! Well done 🎹🎹
Have been waiting for PSE 2025 so that I can process the RAW photos from the OM1 MK II as PSE won't even import the RAW files.
PSE 2024 won't import them
@@KeithWilliams-n4d I understand the version that's shipping is ACR16.4 so it should work with OM1 MK II
Stručnejšie by to nešlo?
Couldn't it be more concise?

Considering the high impact AI has in all aspects of software - I am really disappointed about the State of the Art of Adobe Elements 2025. If AI is used to have pictures sparkling - or some elements moving in a picture - I cannot see a future of this software.
AI is probably seen to better effect in Content aware fill, Subject select and other features, but they are not new to PSE2025.
We know you have to earn your salary, but this Adobe is doing is a real abuse and an outrage to the consumer, that said I will stop using adobe software when this happens to me, they do not deserve to have customers or subscribers with this abusive policy to force to upgrade and pay the latter is the point of this invention.
Ha ha! I don't earn anything from Adobe - they don't even have affiliate links for Photoshop Elements anymore.
