Confirmed via Carfax support today that DIY results do NOT belong to the car VIN but only to the account... so for my wife & I to keep up with tire rotations we have to share an account.
The premise of this video is also wrong - keeping track of records for resale this way is no better than pen and paper. You can backdate records in the app, just as you did on the video...
I still like the app, just NOT for the reasons in this video

So what stops you from adding service when you really didn't do the service?

That only adds it to the app for your own records but it doesn't get it on the Carfax report so only you will be able to see it and it wont increase the value of your car for having maintenance records on its Carfax record. Only a participating service shop can report to the actual report. You can find reporting service shops on their website at: www.carfax.com/Service-Shops

Is it possible to ask a participating shop to add it to the vehicle via their reporting system?

@@MC-mh2ju Yes, any repair shop can do this through their shop management system free.

I love the idea of the app and have been adding DIY records under my account for my wife's vehicle as I do my own maintenance... however, today she took it to get her tires rotated and when we sat down and compared our notes it appears the records I enter for DIY appear on my app under my login, but she does NOT see them, and vice versa - as she has her own account. We opened a ticket with support to see if this is by design, but I'm wondering if self service / DIY records ONLY show for the login that entered them and are NOT recorded to the vehicle history outside of your account. Have you checked this yourself?

Same here - I would like to import the DIY entries my GF made over the years since I am buying her car, but I haven't figured it out.

    Hi
    jsm13
I am having trouble getting replaced items in my list of repairs, When I put my item in my search window like backup lights, then hit search nothing happens, I have even tried hitting enter on my keyboard, and still, nothing happens. Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
    Thank you, Dennis

As someone who has met a car salesperson I know they tend to have access to Carfax and could easily get a Carfax report from a second source to verify the information was going onto the report. Yes, I did throw the BS flag.

You realized the reason why professional autoshops and dealership can report maintenance and shit to carfax right? Do I really have to explain this?
First of all if this “DIY” report would would really show on the actual carfax history, that will makes no sense.
Autoshop and dealers are all mechanic with certificates that perform proper maintenance procedures for your car, and you know it because a they are certified, if this DIY report would really show on record, carfax would be completely useless and no one will be looking into carfax no more, because if someone sees a full of “DIY” services on the car record… who the fuck knows you done the right things.. so yeah fucking bull shit to me.
