    I've enjoyed these books as you've been featuring them on your channel, and today, to my great surprise, I found two of them at my local Indigo bookstore! Of course, I grabbed them. Even at $18 apiece, they are all worth the price, and I hope to find more to fill out my own collection of British Library Tales of the Weird. Beautiful books!

    I love the British Library Tales Of The Weird series, this video was such a joy to watch!
    I'm also a huge William Hope Hodgson fan and since you mentioned having collected many editions of his work - do you think you'll make a video about that one day? I'd be really thrilled to watch that!

    Great video! I have just signed up to the BL's Tales of the Weird subscription service - one book a month for £9.99! Looking forward to getting stuck in.

    I’ve never heard of this series before and I absolutely love it! If only I had the money and space to have them all! I think I’d start with Evil Roots: Killer Tales of the Botanical Gothic. Thank you for bringing these books to our attention!

    The books "keep on coming but the house isn't getting any bigger". Hilarious, but alas, too true. I relate. "Fill your house with stacks of books, in all the crannies and in all the nooks." - Dr. Seuss.
    My house is "Seuss Approved". Is there a Seuss Stamp of Approval? I think there should be.....(Or perhaps just a pin ;)

      Yes I too seem to have a book problem… or maybe what I actually have is a shelf problem. Can you ever have too many bookshelves in a home? 🤔

      @@wendyreeve9923 YESSSSSSS!!!! What an excellent diagnosis worthy of an episode of "House".....a shelf problem, not a book problem. A small comment with huge, paradigm shifting ramifications. Well done.

    Every time you show these books I just want to buy all the ones I don't own. Evil Roots is still my favourite one of the ones I've read so far, but I can't wait to read them all. They're definitely strong collections that I'll revisit several times each. The editors of these do a fantastic job.

    I've been slowly collecting the British Library's Science Fiction Classics (also edited by Mike Ashley). It's a well put together collection of short stories many stories and authors not that well known. I'm not sure how many books in the series but I have around 10. I have seen the Tales of the weird and been very tempted before but my inner shelf space demon stops me.

    • @royreadsanything
      @royreadsanything  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like a helpful demon! I picked up a like-new copy of a time travel collection from the SF series on a day when the charity shop gods were looking favourably upon me.

    Great collection. I got my first couple of books as Christmas presents, looking forward to reading them and collecting more. Do you know if there is a listing of all the titles in the series somewhere?

    • @royreadsanything
      @royreadsanything  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure there is a complete list. The British Library shop seems to be missing a couple of the earliest ones, while Goodreads is a bit flaky. I'm confident in the list in this video description, except two newer ones need adding: Haunters at the Hearth and Polar Horrors - as well as forthcoming titles.
