The parallel Period function is the best comparing the same period last year function because
same period last year = CALCULATE([Total Sales],SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR('DATE'[Date])
which means only we can compare the last year's sales data
parallel Period = CALCULATE([Total sales],PARALLELPERIOD('DATE'[Date],-24,MONTH))
(assume I'm having 2022 sales data by month-wise) if we apply this formula to get the result of 2020 sales data month-wise. But we can't in the SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR function
I think no need to use the "SAME PERIOD LAST YEAR function". If any correction in my explanation. Please pin it here.

Sameperiod last year function works to analise only one year data , what if I want to analise the data with 3 or 5 years back , how can we acheive it ? Mostly in real-time we use DateAdd function insted of parellperiod ,

According to my knowledge
If you want to do date nd time calculations like running total,totalmtd,YTD ... We must use date table which contains continuous dates,no nulls,no duplicate dates from starting date to ending date... So we take date table seperately......
