Thank you for these tips! I’m also gonna check out that book you mentioned towards the end there!

Your experiment completely illustrated the importance of movement! I think it’s amazing that it comes through in the audio, even though you can’t see it!

Good Tip! Being Italian, my whole family is very physically expressive when we speak. This will translate well into my demo reel. These little snippets of info are very valuable to a newbie like me. Keep them coming!

I read that book, it's good. Btw, the content of that book was stolen. Originally, there was another book written by Elaine... I can't remember her last name. I heard this in a video of Dave Fennoy. Anyways, the book is good. I see that you record with no pop filter, and at a considerable difference from your mic.

I can’t speak to this video you’re talking about but Alburger is pretty good about citing his sources. After I finished his book I chased down all the books he referenced and read those too. And you’re observant, in this video I’m pretty far from my mic but all the audio was recorded on my phone so I basically wasn’t using it haha. Normally I’m like 6 inches away from it. No pop filter either, I position the mic off-axis (slightly to the side of my head) so that the air puffs don’t hit it.

Great video as usual. What microphone are you using these days? Thanks.

Thanks! Still rocking my Rode NT1A, mainly for budgetary and time constraint reasons. It’s perfectly fine but does tend to boost higher frequencies so it can worsen sibilance. When I have time to properly research and upgrade, I plan to do that.
