  • Part of the first service is tensioning the drive chain. See excessive and correct chain sag, parts of the tensioner and how it works to set specified chain slack and maintain correct wheel alignment at the same time.
    (The second nut is called the counter nut, fits a 10mm wrench)

    i don't usually comment on any videos, but thankyou so much for this video - i like the fact that you actually explained and showed how tightening the bolt actually pulled the wheel back - great video again

    Hi. Can you make a video where you show how to change the drivechain on the same motorcycle as in this video?

    It is a good idea to grab a straight edge to check the manufacturer`s workmanship on the adjustment mechanism. Once I do that on a bike, then I trust the markings. Reason: there are no left or right side adjusters, they are interchangeable. All are all made pretty uniformly by cold stamping, the lines are also cold stamped-in. The left and right sides of the swingarm could be different due to casting which involves working with molten metal. That`s what I check with a straightedge and ruler.

    great video. i have a question : do you need to put the bike on rear stand to adjust the chain ?

    Hi mate. A very nice video. You followed the owner's manual, however, I've learnt that the chain adjuster marks aren't accurate and you need to make sure that the wheel alingment is done properly otherwise the chain is going to develop tight spots which equals replacing the chain.

    Beautiful explenation, any chance anyone here knows how much you need to torque down the Axlenut?
    I keep only find 59Nm, but I'm not sure if this is for the previous model (JC39, pre 2011) or also for the JC50 (2011

      It is a very very reasonable amount, all I can say.

      [GER]FünnLP I can do chain change but I don`t have the European model here. I`ll grab a North American.

    I lost one of my swingarm end plates. Qwq I'm gonna just get an aftermarket chain adjuster.

    • @theoverengineer
      @theoverengineer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tha IS weird. Anything that fits the box beam swingarm spars will work.

    • @giantdad1661
      @giantdad1661 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theoverengineer I'd hope, but tbh I'm probably just gonna manufacture another one That's what I like about swing arms like that. Simple to replace part.

    You don't need to take off the nuts. Just back it off.
