  • We start with drawing some curves to define our mountain ranges and then gradually build up all the ridges and terrace details. We will also prepare the masks, which will be important when we go to the texturing step.

    One thing worth mentioning is that there was no optimization at all on this. Things like resampling to higher-res, then downsampling to lower-res don´t make much sense to me. Also in the new Houdini 19 file cache node, it is important to disable time-dependent cache for static geo. Otherwise, it will read $F and will not work properly without a timeshift.

      I think you get different results from the erode if you run it at high res and down sample it, as opposed to just running it on the lower res version.

    thank you very much! But.. This tutorial - it's just repeating of your work. You use already prepared parameters and positions, without to give understanding, why you use exactly this node.. So, it's okay, if I want to repeat step by step and receive exactly your variant - this is good video. But unfortunately, I don't understand, how exactly works these tools, so from this tutorial is difficult to understand, how to do some own terrain..
