Regardless of "when" they say the viking age began, we do know it began a lot earlier. A whole century before the start of the so-called biking age in 793, there was 2 boat graves with over 40 "Vikings" found in the Baltic lands. And if you really wanna go deep, the Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Frisians literally went "Viking" on what was to become England right at the fall of the Roman empire 4 centuries earlier. And seeing that all for were from the same region and/or lands that "Vikings" came from later on.....I'd say they count as pre-Viking age "Vikings".
