old ringtones, elevators, the music you'd hear from your mom's little flip phone when she was on hold with the bank, the local TV channels that only showed you the weather...this music just feels like a portal. its very 80s and 90s inspired but so much of that spilled into our 2000s childhood that made us feel connected to the music too. i think nowadays music can become a trend and die out so fast because the internet cycles through things at such a much faster pace than it once did. i guess thats why i value these playlists that capture those truly timeless pre-modern internet moments. their value just cant be erased with time.

So true
Spoken like a true time traveler brother! We definitely was in a Golden time for everything back then. I could sit on a beach with a speaker bumping this all day through the night 👌🏾🔊🙌🏾💎
These are musical liminal spaces. You were never meant to listen to it, it was just there to wallpaper over a transitional space: on hold on the phone, while shopping, when checking the weather or the TV guide… this is the music that filled the interstitial spaces of mundane life.
This comment deserves way more likes!
Great comment, shows a true understanding of the word liminal.
This is the music I would hear sitting next to my mother in her downtown office as a child in 90’s Miami. I can still hear her on her windows 98 computer & see late 80’s architecture of the space mixed with soft 90’s aesthetics, like peach walls, softly adding to the ocean overlook out the window.

If anyone’s wondering the genre is called slushwave, its a subgenre of vaporwave
odd.. I always associated slushwave with much longer, slower, reverb-heavy tracks (much like Telepath).
@@clurgee4923 yeah it is telepath thing, slushwave in general is just vaporwave but with more of the palm tree mall vibes like telepath, so pretty much more reverbed stuff than vaporwave
And radio like, mostly gives off yknow those palm tree mall and beach ish vibes, like idk how to explain, watery? Oceany? Idk
@@shaplene i totally see where you're getting at. love music that's like that especially, as well as stuff emulating Weatherscan/smooth easy listening stuff if that makes sense. I think, however, you could be confusing the genre mallsoft with slushwave. Mallsoft is basically vaporwave, usually sampled from smooth jazz or muzak with reverb to emulate the feeling of being in a mall or at the beach; think Cat Corp. (his song HEL-AMS is my favorite). Slushwave, though, I feel is arranged much differently than standard vaporwave. Excessive looping (usual tracks last 15 minutes or more), lots and lots of reverb to the point its hard to distinguish instruments sometimes, and echo, to make a "slushy" lucid dream-y sound. I could be wrong though, I'm not an expert!! You could be right, I'm just commenting what I believe here. And, this is a perfect opportunity to check out Virtual Dream Plaza (Telepath's alternate moniker)'s release "一見鍾情" my favorite of his!
@@clurgee4923 oh i see, yeah i never heard of that genre before so i thought that was slushwave bc they kinda sound the same, vaporwave subgenres are kinda confusing but however i love them either way lol

The data is still there. Don't panic.
First things first, if the drive has it's own power supply, replace that.
Second thing is, look up data restoration near you. Even if you completely dunk your drive in honey, then throw it across the room, the plates inside are what hold the data, and while a little pricey, you can restore everything.
I just transferred data from my phone's internal memory. The phone had been dropped in the ocean, and I got the data off with a little soldering.
Data is durable.
Same exact thing happened with me, about 6-8 years of data, shit like this crushes your soul, I wish the best of luck for both of us

It makes me think of back in 2009-2010 when I had a Nintendo DSI and would play Mario Kart DS on download play with friends in summer day camp. As a zillennial born in 2000, newer generations missed out on the pre-smartphone gaming days and it makes me low key sad for people to not experience this amazing memory. Kids would actually talk to one another, now it's becoming less of a thing to have normal face to face interactions. I want that simpler time back, and I would pay my life fortune to go back.
It makes me really calm for some reason. The digital compression of the instruments really captures that point in time, thank you=)
I had an obsession with 80s 90s videos when I was younger. I remember spending hours watching old videos of people just doing stuff back then and how much simpler things were. People paid with cash, talked on payphones, don't need to state the obvious lack of cell phone staring. People were more personable back then. Seriously. Covid has fucked people's minds up and now a lot of people don't know how to interact with their piers worth a shit anymore.

It was definitely a better time. More relaxed, more family oriented. Landline phones where we could listen in on our parent's calls. Hot summer days at the pool, evenings spent playing NES. Some people had huge Gateways or HPs but everything was so slow that it was only fun for a while. Kids being kids and having fun, not worrying if they were the correct gender. *music plays
i wouldn’t be even a little upset if it was wii sports resort. childhood dream come true right there.
my mom was a librarian at my local elementary school during my early childhood, this is what plays in my mind when I rethink what those times were like back when I’d play flash games on the old desktop round table computers and run around with my friends after school hours. The architecture of the library, it’s color palette, and the late 90’s- early 2000’s atmosphere really takes me back. Good times great music.
thanks sam, this shit rocks
Same
I have been off work the last few days after being unable to serve due to a severe mental health crisis. But listening to this music deeply helps my troubles and gives me a glimmer of hope to get through another night. Not worry about so much of the future but rather on the present. It gives me a soothing nestolgia that things will be okay soon....thank you for slowing me down. God bless you
I can feel the young age of the internet and the 90s flowing through me!
It feels so warm and comforting.
this
You go through life knowing in the back of your you could just die tomorrow. But when you were a youngster in the 90s, what you didn't know then is that you didn't. You lived through the 90s and, at least, 20 years after that. So retroactively, that was a safe space. Nothing bad could happen to you. A whole decade where, in the end, everything really did turn out OK like all the sitcoms had you believe. Your future is uncertain, but even though you didn't know it at the time, that kid's future was. That's what you are feeling.
U CANT FEEL TEMPERATE WHEN LISTENING TO SONGS
note for self don't feel insecure about repeating notes
This sounds like the kind of music dolphins would listen to
If this music played in an elevator , id never leave
I feel like I'm in a used 1984 Chrysler Laser with the T-top off chilling on a mountain overlook over a sunset above LA in the '90s
this feels like, stumbling upon a computer in the backrooms
This reminds me of banks back in the 90s - no mobile banking and barely internet - lines were so long - also reminds me of JC Penney - my grandma walking on the flooring with her high heels and the smell of all that fabric and perfumes - miss it all very dearly. The Hell is this world we live in now?
懐かしい気分。
どれだけ懐かしく悲しい思いをすればいいのだ、、、
Time is crazy n beautiful honestly, no matter what, time gets old and you, appreciate it here, born 2001 listening to this in 2024

SOMEONE TELL ME WHY THIS POOL IS SO NOSTALGIC
that feeling when you're nostalgic for a time you never experienced
90's really hit differently now.
The end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s.
水の中…宇宙空間…神秘
