As a regular fishing visitor to the island, and an enthusiast of angling literature and Hebridean history, my thanks Alasdair for this excellent, amusing and enlightening talk. I'm still trying to track down an original copy of Bickerdyke's book, but the facsimile which I own makes fascinating reading. He seems to have been more empathic towards the islanders than some of his Victorian sporting predecessors.
