Rod Stewart: Part 2 TV Doc: Can't Stop Me Now, Subtitles, BBC4, 14/11/15

  • Part 2 with subtitles. From beatnik to mod, from folkie to disco tart, from glam rocker to, most recently, crooner of American standards, Rod Stewart has had a remarkable musical journey. Alan Yentob visits Rod at his homes in Beverly Hills and Essex and talks to his friends and family, including all eight children aged from two years old to 50. Featuring rare archival footage of Rod when he was barely out of his teens and living above his parents' north London sweetshop, lmagine examines an entertaining career across five musical decades. Part 1 was marked copyright so I deleted it. Part 3 was blocked by BBC Worldwide, who do a fantastic job. I removed excerpts from Maggie May and Handbags and Gladrags (Rod Stewart) owned by UMG and WMG, for copyright reasons. Thanks to the BBC, You Tube and all who allowed this great video to remain. It is NOT monetised.

    Here's something from Wiki about the so called beating the Sex Pistols to number one. "In March 2001, the BBC published an article that stated ‘"God Save the Queen" reached number one in the UK in 1977"

    No idea how he could just carry on and focus on nothing but a music career and not have a little girl on his mind that was abandoned by him and his girlfriend and just say give the baby away cause I'm too young to have a child.
    Nice guy, yeagh, but in reality he's been a pretty self concerned and self centred person all his life. Who can walk away from their own child like that. I can't stand to be away from my little one for any length of time.

    • @jimmoun
      @jimmoun 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      maybe it would have been worse had he stayed........ apparently he and his "abandoned baby daughter are in contact again and have been for years, they get along pretty well,. ....and of course, she wants for nothing.

      Actually, their relationship isn't very close.
      As someone who grew up with a Dad who wasn't around and knowing other kids like me, that would not be the case. It was his responsibility and duty to stick around and do his job his dick started. Even if he was always present and he and his kid spent quality time together every week for a few days it would have been fine, but he just fucked off and she never really knew him. Trying to make a relationship in later years doesn't quite work the same and I doubt even then he would spend much time.
      my little guy is with me all the time, half the time and more cause I go by and see him and take him for overnights over and above what was worked out and I can't wait to see him. And he is doing just fine, and in fact he is more attached to me than his Mom.
      Take it from someone who knows, it only doesn't turn out when the parent doesn't love their child deeply whether they spend time or not. They know it, they feel it. And no amount of money or material things can fill that void.
      And My boy Knows every single day how much I love him. I tell him every day.
      Sorry to bust the bubble of his greatest fans, I was one, but Mr Stewart is an egomaniac, like most in his line of work.

      In many ways someone of that age is still very much a child themselves. I am certain we have all a few things in life of which we might have some regrets about, especially with maturity and hindsight, although when he was leading that life it is just conceivable that he felt the child might have been better off with the adoptive parents. It is easy to judge others but without being in their shoes it is difficult to really know. Also, I expect most people who win in the talent lottery of life, especially at that age, may too may carry on regardless. Success based on talent is something most of us don't get to experience. We get mundane jobs for years which we often hate but have to endure. Who's to judge?
