    Great reminder, Sal. I made the mistake of leaving some coins on my counter in front of an individual on a home service call. I noticed that he couldn't stop observing them. There is something different about gold and silver that is different from observing fiat currency. After the service call was over, I checked my windows and this individual deliberately left one of my windows completely unlocked. In terms of the layout of my home, I concluded that it would have been the best place to strike from. Be careful, folks!

      night, was considered fair game. Shooting them did not even result in an investigation because such cases were considered open and shut.
      It's probably different now because things change over time. If so, then that's too bad but it's good that Montana is still holding onto tradition.

      Safe wouldn’t matter. Thieves are now breaking into cars to steal garage door openers and in groups they go in garages. A safe is the worst place to hide gold because when you see a safe, you think something’s valuable. Never have I heard of a criminal going up in an attic with old Christmas boxes. Even the bandits from home alone weren’t that stupid and criminals are wanting to get in and out, what does that mean? Why would they check attics. And then you have armed robberies. You’d have to have your gun at all times and even getting the newspaper if you still do, even watering plants because all a guy has to do is hold you at gunpoint while his partners enter your property, oh you grab at your hip? Shot when they see you reaching. Gold isn’t worth my life so the accomplices will come back asking you the code while holding you at gunpoint. Then you’re forced to basically give the code or death. Me personally, I wouldn’t die over gold, but what criminals will go into an attic full of old junk like Christmas decorations? None. Therefore, the attic is better than a safe. If a criminal sees an attic door along with rooms, which will they check first? Things with easy access that don’t take a long amount of time. Gold will 100% not be taken if it’s in a box that’s in an old box in the attic. It costs $1 to get a box from Walmart and $0 to make it look old to where people don’t even wanna bother looking in it. But it costs hundreds for a safe that you can bolt down that smart thieves can remove the bolts and use the group of 3-5 to take out. An 800 pound safe would require 5 people to be able to lift 160 pounds and 266 pounds of each person for 3 people to lift. But then again, who’s checking in the walls ? Who’s checking an attic. Plus if you don’t tell anyone about your gold, you have a 98% o chance of it not being discovered.

    The problem with alarm systems is sometimes police don't respond as one person commented, depending on where you live. Camera security systems store video in the NVR which can be take along with other valuables. If they are wearing a hoodie, you never get a look at their face. Unless you get a jewelry grade safe the sides and top are fairly thin and easily defeated with common battery operated tools. What I am saying, is an experienced thief will get around normal security measures. They will deter the ordinary druggy, but he might come back with more competent help. The best security as others have said is a zipped lip and being anonymous as much as possible.

    There are burglar alarms that utilize the loud voice of a barking guard dog. The proximity sensor initially detects the presence of a prowler on your property. Then the intimidating barking guard dog voice is electronically activated to alert people in the house as well as to deter the intruder from entering and risk a violent confrontation and painful injuries from vicious canine teeth bites.

    An engineering and material sciences background is helpful here. WiFi jammers are $100 and they neuter wireless camera systems. You should have a minimum of 4 hard-wired cameras backing up any wireless network. High-speed abrasive wheels in a cordless motor makes short work of any steel. Touch it to porcelain and it is instantly destroyed. Think cladding, with a non-hardening mastic cement; it turns into billowing, noxious smoke when hit with a high-speed cutter.

    Outside of loose lips sink ships, hide things in the construction because they will not have the time to destroy construction to look for things nor will they start going through nonliving spaces. If you do an attic crawl space, don't make it obvious if they just look there quickly, but don't do attics as you have to worry more about fire. Safes should not ever be seen except for a decoy safe that is not bolted down. It makes them get out quicker by grabbing the safe and going. They believe they have a quick score and it gets them out faster. Put stuff in it to ensure the subterfuge works. Hiding in plain sight is fine, but people advertise their products as hiding in plain sight. Be careful. DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR FREEZERS. That is the first place they look when they can't find things. There is also silver being sold as everyday items. Like with a mint that makes hammers and wrenches, they do steal tools, so be careful with that too. I could go on and on, but this is not a safe forum to get real in.

    I like the layered security concept with more than 1 or 2 security options. Electronic security is good, especially if it is monitored and the police called in the event of a break-in.
    Security video is also very good, especially if it is wi-fi based and records to the Internet and not just to a hard drive based device in the home itself. A backup video recording is
    good to have but not at the expense of a net-based recording. A noisy dog will often cause burglars to try another home. They want anonymity and they can't have that if a dog
    is barking loudly and incessantly. A safe is very good to have but please bolt it to the concrete floor and wall (if available). I once bolted a safe to the floor in a large cabinet in
    the garage. There was no concrete wall there but I would have bolted that safe to the wall as well if there had been a wall there. I used 4 grade 8 4" x 1/2" bolts with expanding
    concrete anchors and a hammer drill to make the 1/2" holes. I wiggled the drill a bit while drilling the holes to make the holes slightly larger than the bolts. Short of a backhoe,
    that safe wasn't going anywhere and there was no room in there for a machine that size. DO NOT depend on the weight of a safe to secure it. When my son wanted to install a
    large gun safe in his home, I came over to help. Before installing it, he went under the house to see what could be used to anchor the safe. While he was gone, I moved the safe
    from one room to the hallway closet area where it was to be installed. Even empty, that safe weighed over 400 lbs. I moved it myself fairly easily using a furniture dolly and some
    muscle. I'm 6'2" tall and weigh 225 lbs., so not a small man. But I was also 64 years old at that time. If an older man can move such a safe with only a furniture dolly, virtually any
    young punk can do the same. Also advise anyone installing a safe to put any cutting wheels they have for their grinder inside the safe so that criminals can't use your own tools
    against your property.

Someone used a WiFi jammer so the alarms aren’t working, and then they rummage through your place. They could be in and out before you know or before the cops get there

    Absolutely right SAL, that is precisely why some of us remain anonymous. One thing I’m conflicted about is that you mentioned not to have it at home. I have stored mine at bank vaults, but I have been told that that too is not safe if a bank were to fold or if a government confiscation were to happen, the banks will let the government look into our vaults! I’m heavily armed with a pew pew and 3+ knives in each room though for our general defense and security among other things.😂

You say you’re armed? Might as well lock them up too, because all a thief has to do is break into your car while you’re at the movies or a mall, garage door opener, address is right there in the car, then when they get in the house, you better have police because imagine getting killed by a thief that has access to your weapons because they found them.

  • @robertclark9
    @robertclark9 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    In 99 percent of these cases, the thieves are known to the victim. Often family and “friends”, that even know where it’s stored. In the movie “Fallen”, two detectives are investigating a homicide in the victims apartment. One says to the other he had no family or friends”. The other one said “then why is he dead”?

      I didn’t know you can find out who’s in masks. And a safe? People target in groups of 3-5. I can pick up 300 pounds worth of something by myself, so 5 people of my small size could be able to group lift a 1,500 pound safe. Along with that, WiFi jammers. You can’t get the video if someone uses that because then you’d need a memory card. Also thieves are breaking into cars and stealing garage door openers. It would take less than 20 minutes to get a safe under 1k pounds out, bolted to the floor wouldn’t do anything because an experienced criminal would know how to unbolt it. So let you be at the movies or Christmas shopping, they could be in an out. But an attic has a lesser chance because an attic would mean they have all the time in the world, finding a safe would basically make the group think. So you basically paid for something when something free is actually a better option.

      @Imhungry12321 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@CoinsAZ you near eliminate the risk by having it in an attic. You minimize the risk, I nearly eliminate it, that’s the difference between you and me. Almost like half the criminals know lots of people have safes in their houses. Companies even offer discounts on safes, a safe is like a mask, an attic is like being isolated in your home during a contagious disease. Nearly eliminates the risk. The easiest thing to hide something is plain sight, seeing and witnessing home robberies, they treat an attic like a fly and don’t worry about it. You can make plenty scenarios about people looking/ wanting the idea of a safe but you can’t make plenty of scenarios of a criminal looking at an attic door thinking “hmmmm maybe there’s just not old Christmas decorations up there and I have all the time in the world, clearly aren’t alarms or security to scare me into checking each room for valuables, I’ll just waste my precious time checking an attic when there’s likely nothing valuable there”

While even the bandits from home alone probably didn’t want to check an attic? Why? Who hide valuables in an attic? Or in the walls? No one. Old Christmas decorations or junk is what a lot of criminals think are in an attic so they won’t try. Cameras with WiFi could be useless if they have a WiFi jammer. Absolutely no sense in having a safe that somebody could pick up a walk off with. That’s ridiculous. If you put anything in a safe, bolt it to a wall in an area where somebody can’t get a good swing at the safe with a sledgehammer. The sledgehammer always wins, unless perhaps it’s a bank safe.
    Better yet, have the safe as a decoy. Put a couple silver coins in there, and that’s it. Hide the biggest portion of your loot somewhere else in your house where it’s extremely difficult to find. Burglars usually aren’t in your house for more than 15 minutes.

I've got a few short swords, a machete, and a EK Archery RX ADDER repeating Crossbow. That holds up to 8. (7.5) inch broad head bolts. At 130 lbs. And 3 (13) inch survival knifes. Good luck walking out without a few holes or some missing digits, or a limb or two. U ROCK Doc. 👍👀🖖👻🤘😎🎸🎶🎵
