Rick not going in the hole was actually the best option. If he did go in, it wouldn't have been to face his fear, just to see Diane again. Him choosing not to go into the hole is Rick's way of letting go, moving one step closer to a healthier Rick

Thats what im saying. Him taking that sigh and putting what his grandson did first and being proud was the better option.
Not to mention, the fact that he carries a photo of Morty in his wallet is proof that he does care
@@suicidalpanda It doesnt ruin shit of course the twist of rick being a manifestation of the hole is way better than the generic ass falling back in love with a fake idealised version of someone and then being unable to let go but ultimately doing so out of a selfless sacrifice showing the protagonist is able to let go or some stuff like that. That's disney fanservice shit. The same message is conveyed way better and in a much mature AND quicker way by having the real rick actually choose himself to not even go into the fantasy of the promised reunion with the woman who made him happy because he trusts morty and doesnt want to risk losing his current family instead of being forced to choose the fake happiness or the real world where he avenged her anyway. That's REAL character growth.

As soon as Morty said the name "Diane", he took it seriously. His whole stride stopped for that. Rick knew in that moment that he absolutely was not ready for the hole.
Rick having a picture of Morty in his wallet screams his irreplaceable more than him actually saying it out loud
We did see a small glimpse into Ricks mind. He cares a lot above Morty, though Morty doesn't know that because he didn't jump into the hole. Instead he avoided answering but answered it fully to the audience.
one of the best if not the best finales they've ever had, I'd say this season has been good, it's been rough, but it's been good
I feel like Morty's fear of relying on Rick was first brought up in Season 2, the Get Schwifty episode, where Morty talks to Bird Person and questions Morty if things would turn out better if Morty stops worrying so much and just puts his faith in Rick?
I've never truely fully watched Rick and Morty, but I did take the time to fully watch this, I think "the fear hole" might actually be one of the best things written in the show, like- bro the twist at the end, the hole made them (and us: the viewers) think that the whole thing was about Rick, when in truth, it was about Morty and his dependency on Rick, when more shocking, Rick wasn't even there to begin with!🤯
I rarely give 10/10 ratings for anything but this season hit, exactly the way I was hoping it would.
Honestly, Rick not going in the hole was a better outcome for the episode than Rick jumping in. It was obvious he wanted to jump on specifically to see Diane but changed his mind and instead put up a picture of Morty that we never knew he kept in his wallet a

Finally after rick's main story ended, the story is focusing more on morty.
Season 7 was awesome! And that twist at the end with Mr. Poopy! I hope this comes up again in Sesson 8!
Also that other twist where Rick didn't jump in the hole with Morty kinda reminds me of a reverse of that inception episode with the dream aliens and Rick where Rick thought Morty was with him the whole time but it was just another simulation!

The numbers episode was definitely weird but besides it and the first episode I think every single episode this season has been a straight winner. I don't really get what you're calling BS episodes besides those two they were all fantastic but to each their own I guess

Let’s go ending 2023 with the Rick and Morty finale, can’t wait for you to react to season 8.
My favorite episode is and will always be Total Rickall (season 2 episode 4), that episode introduced me to the series, and the plot was fantastic.
Also fun fact, this episode came out on December 17th, and during the premiere, adult swim showed a sneak peak of the new Rick and Morty anime coming to adult swim and max in 2024.

they won't be coming out of the hole two seasons from now because the character who said that wasn't "real". From a storywriting standpoint there's no place for that idea to latch onto because that version of rick was an illusion. And if it did happen, it would only be Morty coming out of the hole, because Rick never went in, meaning that all of the events up until that point would have been completely null and void. Again from a storywriting standpoint, it would be extremely sloppy and ill-advised to do that, and they know that and are too talented to fall into that trap.

More proof Rick cares about Morty, why else would he have a picture of him in his wallet. Plus at the beginning of the show if Morty asked if he was replaceable he would have said yes without hesitation but he chose to ask him to define it in a attempt to spare his feelings.

My only complaint with this episode is that most of it was pointless. Any kind of character development Rick had didn't happen. Otherwise it was a solid episode to a mostly bad season. I say this, 4, and 5 were the standouts.
